As economic conditions become more challenging, everyone is doing financial assessments. Whether you’re evaluating your financial portfolio or figuring out how much to spend on groceries this week, everyone has a stake in the money game. For some of us, these current economic conditions are no surprise, because the financial fabric has been unraveling at the ends for several years. However, for those who were caught-off-guard, it’s important to locate yourself financially as well as those around you in order to get through this challenging time.

Where is my Piece of the Pie?

There are four types of players in the money game and everyone, including you, will fall into at least one of these categories: WINNERS – WORKERS – WITHDRAWERS – WEALTHYnWINNERS: Winners think their windfall will come by chance or happenstance. They gamble and/or play the lottery dreaming of their chance of a lifetime. Although the chances of their “hitting it big” is not likely to happen in their lifetime, this does not deter them from trying…excessively.

WORKERS: While everyone must work, the people who fall in this category believe they will get their slice of the pie by working for others. They are career-driven and are sometimes classified as workaholics.

WITHDRAWERS: Withdrawers are the takers in life and probably the most dangerous the four. While some withdrawers will physically take what they feel they have a right to, most withdrawers take by deceit and manipulation. They have always got a sob story and act like leeches to the unsuspecting.
Before I discuss the fourth type, do you notice what these three have in common? Their financial strategy comes from an exte
al source. They lack the internal fortitude to believe that financial success will come from within, and this is what separates them from the last group of people…The Wealthy.

WEALTHY: Wealthy is a way of thinking. It’s a rich thought life.
3 John 1:2-- Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth. The soul is comprised of your mind, will and emotions, and before you’ll see wealth manifested in the natural, it will first be exhibited in your thought life. How you THINK about money will be evident in what you SAY about money.

What you SAY about money will influence your ACTIONS with money.
How you ACT with money determines your financial HABITS.
And your financial HABITS will play a vital part in your wealth or lack thereof.

But there is good news! Regardless of where you are, you can use the Word of God to change how you think about money. Start by meditating on the scriptures below for the next 30 days and you’ll be on the road to wealthy thinking.

  • We don’t think about wealth as the world does: Romans 12:2n • Wealth is for covenant building: Det 8:18n • Learn to master money while serving God: Matt 6:24n
