One of the most stressful things we do is move from one home to another. Using feng shui principles, moving can be far more comfortable and flow smoothly. n nBefore you start, pack your memories. Go to the center of each room and gather all the good memories of that room and place them in your heart. When you get to the new home, the first thing you will “unpack” is these memories.n nYou will feel more comfortable if you are not constantly aware of being on the move. Decide on a Moving Room, ideally one with a door you can close. You can use a guest bedroom: completely dismantle it and use this space to stack the boxes as you fill them. If that’s not an option, use your garage. n nStart filling boxes with those items you can live without, at least temporarily. n nMark the boxes on the top and on one side. It helps if you’re very consistent about this. Label the box with the name of the room where the contents are going to be placed. Where those items were in your soon to be former home is irrelevant. n nIn the last week, when you’re packing up everything, decide what essentials, in each room, make your home feel cozy. These will be packed last and opened first. Mark those boxes, “OPEN FIRST.” Your “Kitchen Open First” Box may have your favorite mugs, coffee or tea paraphernalia, your oatmeal pot, and whatever else you miss when you’re on vacation.n nTo keep the disheveled look in your new home at a minimum: Place the OPEN FIRST boxes in the appropriate rooms, and place the rest of that room’s boxes either in its closet or a designated space in the garage or extra bedroom. n nThen, you can unpack at a comfortable pace for you. You can feel settled from Day One because the boxes are stacked out of sight rather than all over the place. Enjoy a serene transition as you use these feng shui principles.
