The actions you are taking or have failed to take, the emotions you have felt or are feeling and the attitude you have projected or will project to the world, in this moment, are directing the meaning and fulfilment you feel, moulding how you future will unfold and dictating the level of happiness you are experiencing or will experience. Do you not think that something this important should be invested as wisely as possible? How are you spending or investing your every NOW?
Are you spending every one focused on the past, wondering what could or should have been, gazing into the future looking at things, which may never be or are you focused on enjoying and living in the moment, enjoying and utilising each one optimally? Whatever choice you make, requires you to decide to invest your limited resource, namely your time in the opportunity you have chosen, rather than in any other. Invest every now as wisely as possible, for once they have come, they are gone forever.
The Passage of Timer
Our current linear view of time means that it travels only in one direction. So until we can devise a tool to alter this reality, it is safe to assume that my mother, who is getting close to eighty, will never see her fifties again and that they day you spent yesterday is gone forever, other than as a memory in your mind’s eye. The bird of time is most certainly on the wing. I recently bumped into a friend, who I have not seen for over ten years. I remember his young son Stevie, as this little blonde boy, who had only recently started school, smiling from ear to ear; always happy to be alive, frolicking in the swimming pool with arm bands on to help him to swim.
I was astounded to see a much older man looking at me, telling me that Stevie, the little boy I remembered, was now finished school, on his way to spend a year traveling around Europe. It feels like only yesterday that I would visit Graham and Gill, watching Stevie and his brother Gareth frolic in the pool. Where has an entire decade gone?
After walking away from my conversation with Gill and Graham, I saw a poster on the wall. It read,
“There are two days in every week that you should keep free from worry, two days which should be kept free from fear and apprehension. One of those days is yesterday, with its mistakes and cares, its faults and blunders, its aches and pains. The other is tomorrow, with its possible adversities, its burdens, its large promises and possible poor performance. That leaves only one day, namely TODAY. Anyone can fight the battles of just one day, it is only when you add the burdens of the other two days, namely yesterday and tomorrow, that we feel overwhelmed”.
Live in the Momentr
Learn the art of living in the moment and love every passing second. Worrying about yesterday, feeling remorse and bitte
ess for something which has happened, does not serve anyone. Learn everything there is to learn from yesterday and then leave it behind forever. It is also not wise to focus on the future with dread about what tomorrow may bring, look to the future and explore the wonder it presents. Use this promise of what is possible to inspire you to use every moment as wisely as possible to invite that meaning and fulfilment into your experience. Live each moment as best as you can, live, love laugh and enjoy every second of every day. Each moment is gone forever, live each one as though it is your last, for one day that will become true.
