As a massage therapist, I often recommend taking a Hot Epsom salt Bath after a massage because of several factors. One I have moved alot of metabolic waste as I manipulated the muscle tissues. Drinking water will help flush these toxins out, but you still may feel achey and sore for 24-48 hours after your massage.
Epsom salts taken as a bath promotes perspiration and draws acidic wastes - mainly uric acid - through the pores of the skin. This all helps to relieve pain. This bath also sedates the nervous system, reduces swelling, relaxes muscles, is a natural emollient, exfoliator, and much more.
How to prepare: Soak in warm water and 2 cups of Epsom Salt. Be sure to have a tall glass of water to drink while you soak for up to 15-20 minutes.
Foot Soak: Soothe aches, remove odors, and soften rough skin with a foot soak. Add 1/2 cup of Epsom Salt to a large pan of warm water. Soak feet for as long as it feels right. Rinse and dry.
Soak Sprains and Bruises: Epsom Salt will reduce the swelling of sprains and bruises. Add 2 cups Epsom Salt to a warm bath, and soak.
Splinter Remover: Soak in Epsom Salt, it will draw out the splinter.
A note of caution: Do not take an epsom salt bath if you have high blood pressure, diabetes or a heart or kidney condition.
