Written by Susan Stype
Try a new approach to romance by using some aromatic sensual oils that possess both anti-depressant and aphrodisiacal properties.
Aromatherapy can add ambiance to any setting, but more importantly, FUN to any relationship while lightening the mood. This allows you to embrace the love that you give, as well as receive. Your creative spirit is only limited by your own imagination.
Here’s a quick list of some essential oils with known aphrodisiac and uplifting properties: Jasmine, Rose, Cardamon, Clary Sage, Ylang Ylang, Geranium, Vetiver, Neroli, Nutmeg, Sandalwood, Patchouli, Rosewood , Cinnamon, Ginger and more. While many of these oils are are also expensive perfume materials, they are used frequently in aromatherapy.
Jasmine – Sensuality
The sweet, flowery, rich and exotic scent of Jasmine has been used since ancient times and known to be an aphrodisiac. In a recent study, men preferred the alluring scent of Jasmine over Lavender for calming the mind and releasing tension. It is an essence rather than essential oil, as it is solvent extracted. Did you know it takes more than 2,000 pounds of Jasmine flowers to produce a little less than 2 pounds of jasmine absolute? A very sensual and romantic warming oil for massage and excellent for dry and sensitive skin. Only a small amount is needed in your blends. Some aromatherapy uses are for: easing depression, nervous tension, a drop on the temple will clear a headache in minutes. Very soothing to the skin and can increase skin elasticity. Avoid during breastfeeding (can inhibit lactation).
Rose - Desire
This is a warm and immensely rich fragrance. One of the oldest and best known of all essential oils. Rose has long been known as an aphrodisiac, and the Romans used to scatter rose-petals on the marriage bed. Used in all types of perfumes to lend beauty and depth to the aroma. A drop or two in a massage, facial, or bath oil creates a luxurious, soothing experience. The oil is also used in skin creams, powders, and lotions. Rose is a soothing and calming oil.
For Chocoholics…
Some suggestions for adding the FUN into your creations would be for example Cocoa (Chocolate) Absolute! Add to make a special blend like Chocolate/Orange, Chocolate/Mint, Chocolate/Rose whether for a massage oil or foot oil, or bath body scrubs. Frosting a cake or cupcakes for someone special? Add a few drops of Cocoa Absolute for a heavenly butter cream frosting.
Just like LOVE – the possibilities are endless!
