What is the secret to success? There are so many people talking about how to become successful, but there is a problem. They are telling you how to become successful based on what they believe success means. For you to be truly successful, you must first define what success means to you.
So how do you define success? The easiest way is to first consider the basic domains of life and then write down specifically next to each domain what success means to you in each domain.
Here are some of the domains to consider.
Relationships Intimate
Relationships Family
Relationships Other
Finances
Career
Health
Passions/Hobbies
What you need to do now is you get a piece of paper. Once you do that, I want you to rank the domains in order of importance to you by writing them out from most important to least important.
Then, next to your new list, give yourself a score out of 100 for how successful you believe you are overall in each domain.
After that, choose as many domains as you think are important to focus on in your life right now. You may choose all of them, or perhaps only your most important 3 or 4. Once you have chosen the amount of domains you wish to focus on, you can now create an average score.
Do this by adding up the total number of domains and associated scores you wish to focus on and then divide that score by the number of domains you have chosen,
Example Top four Domains are Health, Finances, Relationships Intimate, Career. Scores for each are Health 60, Finances, 30, Relationships Intimate 55, Career 75. The total of these scores is 220. 220 divided by for gives a total average score of 55.
In this case, there is quite a bit of work to do if the person wants to live a life of Fulfilling Happiness.
The next thing to do is set a challenge in each domain over the next week that would show that you are working on improving your level of success in that domain.
So it may look like this.
Example: Health This weeks goal: Do one extra exercise session this Wednesday straight after work.
Finances This weeks goal: Set up an appointment with a financial planner by calling the bank as soon as it opens on Tuesday.
Relationships Intimate This weeks goal: Surprise my partner with a gift by taking them out somewhere new this Saturday night.
Career - This weeks goal: Make 3 extra sales calls per day.
Then at the end of the week, you can score yourself in comparison to how you were before. Obviously, if you completed all your goals in a particular category, then logically speaking, you would have to score yourself higher then your average over that week. If you then continue to make goals and reach them each week, your average would have to increase further over time and you would without doubt start to become more successful in a clear, obvious and measurable way.
There you have it, enjoy your future success.
