Feng Shui is the 4,000 year old Chinese art of placement and balance that is employed in your home and work space. Feng Shui also teaches us to place items in our environment that we honor and love. Every object that you place in your environment needs to be a clear, conscious decision to uplift your energy (Chi) and support your well-being.
An important consideration in Feng Shui is the artwork that you place on your walls. Art is a very important component of your environment. It is defined as any picture, poster, tapestry, figurine, water feature or sculpture that is placed in your home or office space. Artwork sets the tone of the space and reflects who you are and what you love and value in your life. Time, thought and consideration needs to be given to every piece of art that you welcome into your life.
The following are several Feng Shui tips on what art may be the most effective and inspiring for whatever area in your life that you are currently woking on and giving your attention to:
LOVE- If you are single and want to call in your forever soul mate, DO NOT surround yourself with artwork of single people. Most commonly, single women have pictures of single women and visa versa. INSTEAD, put up pictures of romantic, happy couples. You can also place 'pairs' of animals, i.i. dolphins or lovebirds in your bedroom. This will help you set the tone and intent of bring in a life partner or new boyfriend or girlfriend.
WEALTH- If more income is what you want to work on, buy artwork that represents a waelthy lifestyle to you. For example, if you love sailing, put up a picture of the ultimate sailboat or speed boat that you would like to own. Any type of water (lake, ocean, waterfall) is a great picture to display. In Feng Shui, water means wealth. Make sure the picture is inviting and serene. A raging waterfall or turbulent ocean is that last thing you want to place on your walls. Also, make aur the waterfall flows into your home and not towards a dorr. That would symbolize money flowing away from your life.
HEALTH- The Chinese feels that health is everything in life and I couldn't agree more. So, it is important to keep your mind, body and spirit in the best condition possible. In Feng Shui, it is encouraged to honor the entire body as a whole. Therefore, statues, paintings or posters that depict body parts seperatly ( head, hand, torso) are discouraged. It is optimal to have the entire body in the picture, not just a segment. Also, make sure the people in your artwork look vibrant and healthy. Sleeping people and deathlike, pale bodies and faces only deplete the Chi' (life force energy) in your life. Surrounding yourself with strong, happy, healthy people is best for your health and well-being.
In Feng Shui, every piece of art we bring into our lives will effect how we feel about ourselves. We want to enliven and uplift our Chi in order to be a happy, healthy, whole person. Be sure to surround yourself with optimistic imagery in your artwork. Most importantly, always live with what you love. This will keep your Chi vibrating at a high, pure level.
