There is an old expression that rings true so often. “I could complicate the Lord’s Prayer”. Not withstanding that the Lord’s Prayer is a complicated document, I think we all know the intended thought behind complicating it.
Often wonder how nice it would be to walk the journey of life with the IQ of a house plant?
Most people we meet on the journey are bright people, intelligent, people with the ability to complicate things. Accepting simple truths is not easy. I certainly include myself in this group, bright with an ability to complicate.
Through a power much greater than me, I came to learn that the progress in life recovery in made through simplicity. “What?’ I asked a mentor one day “is god’s will for me?” “Simple”, he answered, “god’s will is what happens”. I can influence outcomes, but gods will is what happens. Today I accept that simple truth.
The program of life recovery is simple. Unfortunately, we who seek are often complicated people. I love to seek simple truths.
Yesterday, the blower on our furnace started to act up. It was making a heck of a noise. At 9 last night the noise went away, the blower shut down. The simple truth is that as a result, it is cold in here.
Yes, I asked for help. I called on a power greater than me, the furnace repair man. He informed me he would be here this morning, and I have faith he will. With temperatures outside below freezing, I need the furnace working to enjoy serenity completely. It is a simple truth. He will help if he is sought!
May we apply it to our lives.
Do the things that will keep us sane and for the most part, life stays in balance. Get into our minds, complicate things and obsess, try to artificially medicate our feelings (nun them), not take action and reach out for help, corners of our life become insane. It really is simple.
I hope the furnace fellow gets here soon. I’m not feeling all that well, and would really like some warmth! The good thing, I have done some simple things like dress properly! We continue to invite others to join us at www.creativeliferecovery.com. Making it simple is part of what we try to do for complicated people!
