Do you struggle with speaking the truth in love in your relationships? If you answered yes, this biblical truth and tip will help you by showing you how not to take personalities personal.

Taking the person's response personal will hinder you in speaking your truth. Instead, DETACH! DETACH! DETACH! The person has the right to his/her own response. It does not invalidate your truth for them to disagree or be upset! Let the person be upset and own the responsibility for it. It is the other person's opinion or feeling. Don't let it make you fearful or upset. Don't let it make you question or invalidate yourself. Don't believe it just because someone says it.

Matthew 10:26 -27 says, "So do not be afraid of them. There is nothing concealed that will not be disclosed, or hidden that will not be made known. What I tell you in the dark, speak in the daylight; what is whispered in your ear, proclaim from the roofs" (NIV). You have the right and responsibility to speak your own truth and to say what you need to say without fear and without restraint.

Each of us has a personality that affects how we perceive things and how we respond to people. An angry person gets angry and reacts. A sensitive person gets hurt. A defensive person gets insulted and defensive. A manipulative person tries to control and manipulate. A fearful person feels afraid. A blaming person blames you. An irresponsible person avoids responsibility. An abusive person twists your words, denies your reality, and punishes you for your positions. A non-verbal and quiet person won't have much to say.

These reactions aren't caused by you; they are a part of the person's personality. Detach from the person's response by not taking personalities personal and speak your truth in love.
