Seasonal Order; like it or not our summer months are beginning to wind down and the appearance of the fall festivities are beginning to line the shelves of the grocery stores; they are starting to show up on the local calendar of events and before we know it once again the cooler temperatures will find their way into our world. Like all good things, summer too must retreat into her world to rejuvenate for her next endeavor.
As we bid Ms. Summer a fruitful bon voyage it seems appropriate that as our summertime fun becomes a fond memory we use the impending closure of such a beautiful time of year to invite an organizing opportunity into our lives. Instead of pining for a season to return again soon why not utilize this transitional occasion to create what is an opportune time to revisit our closets, drawers, baskets and bins that house our warm weather garb? Why not set aside a small period of time to sort out, arrange and downsize your warm weather belongings and put them in their rightful place? By initiating a small number of actions you can begin to feel the relief that accompanies a woman who is prepared, centered and focused.
- Sunscreen: it doesn’t last forever. Check all your sun protection products and ditch the aged products.
- Sunglasses: discard, clean, mend or replace weathered glasses. You need this item throughout all the seasons to protect your eyes.
- Beach towels: replace the thread bitten towels with a few new ones and use the old ones for cleaning rags, animal towels or donate them to the needy cause.
- Beach chairs: they take a beating when exposed to the sun, sand and surf. Throw away broken chairs. Donate weathered items to a charity of your choice.
- Cooler check: if yours is damaged, yucky or has seen better days. Make the right choice, dispose of it in its rightful manner or donate it to a charity of your choice.
- Water bottles: time to replace any reusable ones that you have been utilizing.
Being ahead of the game in the department of order, tidiness and decluttering unwanted, unneeded items from your home you free up space to focus on your dreams and aspirations for today and in the future. Think about how a child feels on the first day of school when they are required to cart a book bag full of supplies to their classroom; a feeling of total relief is bestowed upon them when the items are removed. They are once again free to gallivant and focus on other jobs at hand. The same holds true for you. Ditch the distress and breathe easier.
