Sun the Creator of the Universe

The Sun is the main energy centre of the universe. It is the main reason for lives on Earth and the huge developments that have taken place in the world. It is figure of mythological, mystical and scientific importance with a long history. The Sun and the Moon are the oldest of all mythological symbols.

The creation of this huge energy centre is very complicated and needed lot of researches before the scientists could came into any conclusion. The formation and evolution of the solar system have begun five billions year ago. The Sun is at the centre and around it eight planets namely Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune revolve around in their won respective orbits. However, the universe is bound together by the force of the Sun. From ancient times, people knew that nothing would have been possible on Earth without the presence of Sun. Since that time, Sun has been worshipped as God. The Egyptian worshipped it as Ra, where it was Helios is Greece, Utu in Sumer and Marduk in Babylon. In India the famous Konark temple in Puri holds the most important evidence for worshipping Sun. It holds huge importance in ancient and modern astrology.

Astrologically it is seen as ‘The Spirit.’ It is treated as the basic force and the cause of well being in the life of every individual. It represents leadership, nobility, vitality and creativity in mankind. It illuminates, stabilizes, motivates and improves the positive actions in human life. Its position in the horoscope, the house in which it falls, and its aspects to the other planets; bear huge importance in an individual’s life. From ancient time onwards people employed various methods to utilize the energy of the Sun for performing several functions in their lives. Before the discovery the electricity and fossil fuel people used to utilize solar energy in many household purposes. The first example of solar hot water system can be traced long back.

In the 18th century a popular scientist of that time discovered that the boiling temperature of water could be achieved a glass covered box. First system was made by putting a black water tank inside the box to heat water. However, in 1909 Califo
ian William Bailey separated this water tank from the solar collector. It was done to keep the water warm during the night. This is the main prototype for many modern day solar water heaters. Just like this, when people thought of renewable source of energy, solar energy was the first the thing to strike in their minds. In 1950’s three American scientists built a transistor using silicon. It can be said as the first example of an effective solar PV cell.

Thus, be it building temples dedicating it, manipulating the astrological of it on human life or using its huge source of energy for different functions; all are forms of worshipping the strength and power of Sun. In controls the whole human race and have bound everything on this universe together. If Sun was not there, nothing would have been possible in this whole universe.
