Do you ever wonder why you achieve some of the goals you set, but not all of them? I did. And when I finally discovered the answer, I made a BIG change in the way I approached Goal Setting. I have a tendency to be a pretty analytical type of guy, and thus approach things in a linear, straight-line sort of way. So it makes total sense that my old approach to Goal Setting would go something like this... First, I'd decide what I want. Then, I'd create a plan that I believed would get me what I wanted. Finally, I'd work the plan until I either got what I wanted or gave up from lack of progress or results. Ugh! Just describing that old approach gives me a bad feeling. Don't get me wrong. That approach helped me to accomplish some amazing things in my life. It does work, but not every time, and it has some really BIG limitations. Let me explain. When you create a plan that you believe is going to get you from "point A" to "point B" you've got a bit of a problem. Your plan is going to be limited by your own mind. No matter how much planning you do, or how much input you get from others, in the end whatever you come up with is constrained by what you think is the "right" way to get there. Even worse, if you can't figure out how to get from point A to point B, you'll most likely give up on the goal without taking any action at all! The good news is there is another way. This "way" requires you to do a few things very differently. It relies on something we all have access to, but very few choose to develop and use. What is this alte ative way? You simply focus on "what you want" while letting go of your need to figure out "how" you're going to make it happen. Alright, I'm guessing at this point you're thinking I've lost my mind. In fact you might be saying something like, "If I don't figure out how I'm going to make something happen, how in the world is it ever going to happen?" In all honesty I can see why you might think this, but stay with me for a moment and you'll see where I'm going. There's one additional thing you must do that's VERY important. You also need to take Inspired Action. What is Inspired Action? Inspired Action is any action you take based on your intuition. It includes things like making phone calls, writing letters, and visiting certain people or places. Whenever you get an intuitive nudge, you take action, letting go of fear, doubt, worry and any other negative emotion that you might be experiencing. Since implementing this approach I've been much happier and far less stressed about "making things happen" in my life. It's a very powerful approach, and I encourage you to begin putting it to the test in your own life beginning today!
