Stop telling yourself that you can’t. That was then. This is now.

Stop telling yourself that you aren’t. That was then. This is now.

Stop telling yourself that you haven’t. That was then. This is now.

Stop claiming that you don’t. That was then. This is now.

It does not matter how long that has been your story. It makes no difference how deep you are into it. Just because it’s all you have ever known does not mean you can’t learn something new today. It does not mean you can’t do something different in this moment. I don’t care if everyone else expects you to, right now. You can make a decision to stop right here. You can choose to make a different decision about who you are and how you want to show up in your life. You can decide right here to change direction. You can become your most powerful purposeful self in this very instant. Change happens the instant you decide to let it. Every good thing begins with a simple choice.

The choice is yours to make.

Today is a new day and this moment is what you decide to make it.

Yes the past is what it is. The past informs you but it does not have to define you. It does not have to limit your future. It doesn’t matter how chaotic, how disappointing, how tired, how terrible, how shameful, how unsettled, how embarrassing, how angry, how unhappy, how painful, how boring, how scary, how undeserving, how hopeless, how long, how stressful, how unsuccessful, how clueless, how lost, how dirty, how low, how sad, how broke, how unfocused, how unhealthy, how destructive, how unworthy, how torn, how dry, how mean, or how absolutely forgettable it has been. That was then. This is now.

You have the power to change in this moment. You have everything you need in this moment to begin writing a new story. What will you write? Where do you want to be? How do you want to feel? What would you like to be able to say about yourself?

Start saying it now. Speak it into existence. What does it look like? Imagine yourself being exactly where you would like to be. How would you feel if it was happening? How can you begin feeling it now? What would you do differently if it was going on in this very moment?

Live today as if the pen is in your hand and you are writing the ending you always wanted. You may not feel confident holding this pen because you have never allowed yourself to hold such an important thing in your own hands.

That’s perfectly okay if you have been uncomfortable in your own purpose and power.

That was then. This is now.

As a seasoned Diversity and Inclusion practitioner for a Fortune 100 company, who has lived & traveled in several countries and continually engages in the marketplace with Diversity related issues, I see good inclusionary practices by many… on the surface. The end results however, indicate that all too often noble objectives fall short of leveraging the inherent contributions of most leaving a quiet brooding behind, or sub par productivity gains. Government and Business entities both espouse Diversity and Inclusion policies to foster goodwill and equal representation.
