Some Big Advantages Female Sales Professionals Possess
Before I begin this article, I do want to make it clear that the sales strengths which I am discussing which female sales professionals typically have are not a hard and fast rule and does not, in any way, apply to every female in the sales world. However, throughout the years of owning a sales recruitment agency and consistently interviewing all different types of women sales professionals and account managers in nearly every industry (and every level as well), I have found some great advantages that saleswomen possess in any industry. I am a very strong believe
of the sales benefits and revenue increases which arise from hiring a female. Again, each case is different, but I will elaborate into the subject a little further.
Some of the Strengths I Have Seen Women Have:
1. Many times, women are more in tune with the needs of the customer's emotions - this is one of the primary reasons why I have women in the office. Since sales has transformed into a relationship building process, from what I have seen and from what psychologists have observed, women are more equipped to build these relationships in a more effective manner.
"Women managers tend to have more of a desire to build than a desire to win."
This quote is according to the studies of Debra Burrell, who is a well-known psychological social worker at the Mars-Venus Institute in New York.
Additionally, women put are extremely good at deciphering the emotions of the people whom they are selling to. Women, more so than men, enjoy and put a heavy importance on forming long-lasting relationships. This is the same for both business and personal. Therefore, women tend to make much better account managers and their clients see them as more accessible and pleasant to deal with.
Susan Bradley, a Raymond James & Associates rep in West Palm Beach, Fla., was recently quoted saying the following:
"Whether it's reality or not, firms now believe that women are better at the planning and relationship side of the business."
When it comes to my business, I always rely on the women at my office to decipher the state of my relationship with a client or candidate, translate emails which I cannot tell the tone of and manage the clients because, from my experience just like Susan Bradley's, women are more in-tune to the feelings of others. Another strength I see in women is that they have more patience as they are confident in their business relationships. The women in my office can better predict when and if a client is going to move forward with our organization.
