***The Last Tomorrow

What would you do differently today if you knew you were going to die tomorrow? Would you make sure your family and friends knew you loved them? Would you forgive and forget a past transgression that time has made insignificant? Would you call an old friend you haven't seen or talked to for far too long? Would you spend some quality time with your children or parents and share, without judgment, the true essence of your hearts? Would you laugh more and revel in the joy of feeling happy? Would you allow yourself to see life without the qualifiers of stress and worry? Would you give yourself permission and enough freedom to play with the heart of a child? Would you take a walk and find comfort and inspiration in the natural world that tugs at your soul? Would you make it a point to see the sunset so you may admire the canvas of God one last time?

It is easy to perceive time as an endless resource, but a last tomorrow for each of us is inevitable and impending. The only variable is time; it is just a matter of when. It may not be an immediate tomorrow, but surely as today will fast become yesterday, you will find yourself at the door of your last tomorrow soon enough. So, whatever promises you have made to yourself, whatever intentions your heart feels are important, whatever hugs that lie unfulfilled in your arms, whatever words that need to be shared, whatever seeds of goodwill that have yet to be planted; let not the rapid passing of time prevent you from bringing these types of life-affirming actions and interactions to fruition and sharing them with your intended recipients. And do these things not just for others, but for yourself, your heart and your legacy.

There are 350,000 opinions (books) on “leadership” on Amazon. Corporate America can’t seem to draw a consensus on what leadership is so it’s really no big surprise that Corporate America can’t figure out what soft-skills are and why they are important either. You know, for being such a dominating force in the world of business, we really don’t have a clue about the stuff that REALLY makes business run.

He asked for a further clarification of my assertion that an employer's responsibility to improve its employees ends once they become competent at the job. The ...
