I believe its safe to say that very few of us have had any formal instruction in sexual intercourse. Let's face it, when it comes to the subject of sex, the majority of people appear to be unpardonably ignorant. If you think about it, most of what we have learned about sex comes to us from extremely dubious sources. Parents, teachers, religious leaders, pornography, the street, the marketplace, movies, and unknowing family, friends, and lovers have all contributed to several erroneous assumptions regarding sexual behavior.

Do you realize that in the most comprehensive sexual survey since the 1948 Kinsey report researchers reported that more than 40% of the women and 30% of the men surveyed had no interest in sex, could not orgasm, or suffered some other sexual dysfunction. The list of problems included physical pain during intercourse, lack of sexual desire, premature climax, inability to become sexually aroused or to complete sexual acts, and performance anxiety, No wonder Masters and Johnson called the American bedroom scene "a national disaster area."

Men in particular have been burdened with several misguided beliefs. Perhaps the most destructive myth is that male ejaculation is the ultimate expression of male sexual power and virility. Nothing could be further from the truth. You see, unlike women, when men ejaculate they lose vital energy. The truth is that a man develops sexual potency, penile strength, a heightened orgasmic response, ecstatic pleasure, and an entryway into the world of spirit through sex by withholding his ejaculation.

Another problem for men is that far too many of them still do not understand the distinction between ejaculation and orgasm. This is unfortunate, but understandable, since from our earliest explorations, men have observed over and over that ejaculation and orgasm always happen together. What we haven't been told is that they are two distinct physical processes and that it is very important to learn how to separate them out from each other.

It is vital that both men and women understand the distinction between them. Male ejaculation is a very local genital release. A release is a negative phenomenon ---- you simply lose energy. Orgasm is a totally different animal. Orgasm engulfs the entire body, mind, and spirit. By refraining from genital release, men can learn to substitute orgasm(s) for ejaculation. Once this skill is mastered, the habitual male sexual routine of ejaculating with every orgasm will be seen for what it is ---- sheer lunacy.
