Did you see that? You missed it, didn’t you? Right there, while you were complaining about how terrible your life is right now, it happened. Love showed up.

You don’t even believe me. Seriously, in that exact same moment you were droning on and on about what they did to you and how unfair it was, it flashed in your face. Wow! I’m really sorry to hear that you missed it. It was beautiful, so pure, and inspiring. I can’t believe you let it get away. That’s really a shame. Well, I guess I understand that you were preoccupied feeling sad and low. I get it. Working yourself up into full blown frustration and guilt takes concentration and effort. It takes so much energy to be upset and angry I can’t really expect you to focus on both gratitude and powerlessness at the same time.

In fact it’s impossible to feel both. You made a choice to be fearful and resentful. It’s not as if you actually saw the love right in front of your face and decided to feel despair instead. Yes, I know you feel like you deserved that moment to rant. Heck, if she did to me what she did to you, I can’t say I wouldn’t make that same choice.

Anyway, the fact remains that while you were basking in that hatred and unworthiness, you missed the joy and appreciation offering itself to you. Now that I think about it, it seemed so random. I know if you had been expecting passion and happiness, you would’ve been ready and on the look out for the love right in front of your face. Yes, of course you would. I mean who wouldn’t welcome optimism and contentment into their life with open arms? Instead that overwhelm, doubt and disappointment rudely showed up without warning. Who could blame you for being caught off guard? I mean, maybe if love sends you a text or something next time just to give you a heads up that it is on the way…

So what if you could be prepared for the next time love shows up right in front of your face? What? Don’t you expect it will happen again? You don’t?! Yeah, I guess if you don’t, you’re probably right not to look for it.

Okay, but what if you decided to just check. I mean just for today. You know, in the event that it’s possible for love to be right in front of your face sometime today. In the off chance that appreciation, joy, and happiness are planning to surprise you again today – like right in this moment. When you are tempted by the grief, jealousy, discouragement, depression, worry, fear, or boredom, understand that all of that negativity is just a distraction. Think of the pessimism as a smoke screen that shows up to make you miss the love right in front of your face. So the overwhelm is actually a signal. It’s a surefire sign. If this was poker, it would be life’s tell. When you are faced with negativity, there is love right in front of your face. How cool it that? Now you don’t have to be fooled by the banana in the tailpipe okey-doke. Expect to see love right in front of your face every moment. Look for it everywhere. Listen all the time. It’s right there sitting just past the distractions. There is an immeasurable and unconditional amount of love right there in front of your face. Can you see it now?
