I will be meeting up with three old school friends in a few weeks time - and I have been having some "flashbacks" to the past - one of which I thought it would be useful to write about.

I can have a habit of wasting time and procrastinating - and not always doing things in the most efficient way. And yet, I know that when I was really little, I used to be very organised - and took pride in it! Suddenly I had a memory of a time when I was with one of these friends - we were about 12 years old. Someone, an adult, maybe a teacher, complimented both of us on being organised and efficient. For some reason, I felt disappointed because I equated being organised with being in some way "boring" or not "cool" or whatever it is 12 year old girls think! And I think at that point that I (unconsciously) decided to move away from that space of being organised. (Strangely, or maybe not so strangely, as I write this, the name of one of my very organised, productive friends comes up as being online at the moment - reminding that it is possible to be both organised and fun!)

When this memory came up earlier on this year, I immediately did some self healing. Using Emotional Freedom Technique, I went back to that memory, and deliberately "undid" the connectio
I had made at that time between being organised and being cool! Isn't it amazing that for the intervening decades I had been finding it hard to be really productive, and to get as much done as I knew I was capable of?

And yet I see this all the time in my clients and my friends. We come to conclusions about the world based on something that happens to us as a child, and we then carry that (false ) conclusion around with us for the rest of our lives! And of course often, we have no idea that this is what is happening!

I'll give a couple more examples. If people are brought up with fearful parents, they are likely to conclude the world is an unsafe place. If everything seemed a struggle as we were growing up, we can therefore think that life is always inherently hard. It's very common when people have addictions to things that they have had an experience which has led them to falsely equate the substance of choice (food, cigarettes, alcohol) with a feeling of freedom. If someone is limited in the food they are given by a parent or other authority figure who wants them to lose weight, the child, whilst most likely be outwardly compliant, will be plotting revenge for the future - getting their own back on the adult by eating what they like!

Unfortunately, this behaviour can continue for years - without us realising why it is that we are constantly reaching for another cigarette, why life is always so hard, or why we feel unsafe, no matter what our circumstances are.

These strands can often be a strong part of a recovery from a condition like Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. It may be that receiving energy healing, we start to have memories of things that have really affected us in the past. And energy healing or Emotional Freedom Technique can then be used to release the energy behind the false view of the world that we have constructed. Or it may be that we know we always feel unsafe, or are always expecting ourselves to be perfect (or whatever other pattern it is) - but we don't know why. Again, energy healing and Emotional Freedom Technique can be used to explore these patterns in a very safe, gentle way - releasing the energy behind them, sometimes without even needing to know why it came to be there in the first place!

And as we release these behaviours from the past, we become more energised, and in touch with our true life force.
