People typically tend to think of hypnosis as some kind of circus act. This cannot help though since there is so much hype regarding its use. But did you know that it can be a viable and natural way for managing pain? This is very much apparent in monks practicing a form of hypnosis coupled in their religious beliefs enabling them to perform rituals that involves so much pain that it can be considered as simply impossible for any normal person to do.
Indeed the use of hypnosis for conquering pain isn’t new. Ancient cultures had been able to use it to settle their minds and achieve a sense of focus that enables them to put aside any sensations of pain or discomfort. This is certainly true regardless if the hypnotism was self induced or initiated by somebody else. Through this level of hypnosis, it is believed that it’s entirely possible to shut down our bodies’ sensations of pain. A lot of people are sure to frown on the idea thinking that it’s all an exaggeration but let me share a scientific explanation that is bound to make you see it in a different light.
It is a known medical fact that the sensation we call pain does not happen in the area of a specific injury or wound but rather in our brains. The ones responsible for triggering pain are the brain’s pain receptors. It is actually a part of our body’s defense mechanism compelling us to withdraw immediately to avoid further damage which will certainly be the case when we let’s say, accidentally handle a hot cooking pot. This would explain why pain killers actually work and is able to ease any pain in our body due to the fact that they specifically target the brain’s pain receptor itself.
As a viable alte
ative to anaesthetics or other artificial means to reduce pain, hypnosis is now gaining considerable acceptance worldwide. It can be a good means for conditions such as migraines and arthritis as well as a good supplement for the painful side effects of treating cancer. Its drug free and natural characteristics also make it ideal to use for many women to ease the pains of giving birth.
