If you are looking for ways to add more positive energy to your life, perhaps you've been spending a lot of time reading self-help books and looking for ways to change your life. Although there is certainly a lot of merit and benefit in most self-improvement techniques, you might be overlooking one of the easiest ways to add positive energy to your life - color. You can actually use some of the basic feng shui principles of color to effortlessly add a positive influence to your life. Plus, by simply making a few changes to the colors you use in your home and surroundings, you can expose the rest of your family members to more positive energy, without them even realizing it. If you are ready to improve the quality of your life through the use of color, here are a few easy tips you can follow.
Matching Colors to the Use of the Room
If you'd like to add more positive energy and harmony to your surroundings, it's important to understand that every color has a certain energy and influence. However, not all colors are equally useful in every room of your home. For example, although serene colors such as blue and green can promote relaxation and a harmonious atmosphere in the bathroom or bedroom, these colors don't have the kind of high energy you might desire for your office, kitchen or active family room. On the other hand, if you use large quantities of a high energy color such as red in the bedroom, it will likely interfere with your ability to sleep and relax. When you mismatch colors energy levels and desired room energy levels, the end result can be quite jarring and unharmonious.
Choosing Colors to Promote Positive Energy
Once you've given some thought as to the kind of energy that would work best in each room of your home, you'll be better prepared to use feng shui color principles to choose your home's color schemes and decorating plans. For example, for rooms where the atmosphere is one of activity and focus, yellow or orange could be a good choice. Yellow and orange are both good for areas where an overall sense of encouragement and positive thinking is desired. These shades can work well in family-centered areas such as the kitchen. Or, try adding touches of yellow and orange to your office, since these colors add a positive energy that can promote inspiration and creativity. If you have a hobby or craft room, you might discover that using a cheerful yellow color on the walls will make you feel more creative and artistic.
If you want to give a more personal and perhaps even romantic look and feel to a room, colors such as deep fuchsia or a beautiful pink could be the perfect choice. These shades work well in the bedroom, especially if you want to encourage love and romance.
If you'd like to promote a feeling of rest, relaxation and serenity in the bathroom, try using colors from nature such as light green, sky blue or sand. These colors have a lower level of energy, which makes them the perfect choice for areas where you'd like to create a more relaxing atmosphere. These colors can also work well for guest bedrooms, since they can help your guests feel relaxed even though they are in unfamiliar surroundings.
