We Can Be Replaced

Why is it we find time to do the things we want to do but we can’t make time for the things we should do? Why is it when we know there are things that need to be done, we do everything but those particular things? We put off doing what we know we should do. We make excuses why we can’t be at a certain place or help with certain things.
It seems we give into things which please us rather than doing things that will help others. It seems we think about our own needs before others. We may not do it intentionally, but we do it irregardless. We aren’t necessarily disappointing others when we don’t make time for them. Life goes on whether we are there or not. We can be replaced.
Acts 13:22 “But God removed Saul and replaced him with David, a man about whom God said, ‘I have found David son of Jesse, a man after my own heart. He will do everything I want him to do.’”
It is us who are missing out on the experience. We are missing out on what we can learn. We are missing out on what we can share. When we choose to stay home or to do something else other than what God intended for us to do, we are missing out on His direction and blessing for us and others.
Although we do have special talents and skills from God, if we don’t use them other people will come along and do what He asks them to do. If we don’t follow through and make time for the things we don’t really feel like doing, other people will take our place. Do we really want to disappoint God?
If we don’t take time for our family and friends, they will replace us. When we decide to do other things besides spend time with them, they will go and find someone else who is willing to spend time with them. They aren’t going to wait on us when they have a need. That is why it is so important we take time with them so we direct them toward God rather than they get sent in another direction.
We shouldn’t think so highly of ourselves that we can’t be replaced. We take pride and be responsible for the work God has given us to do. We should be available and ready to do whatever the task is. There are things we don’t really want to do or we don’t feel like we are capable of doing; however, God is there for us and will help us do them. That shouldn’t be our excuse.
God has a plan for us to make a difference. How sad it would be for God to say we are going to be replaced because we refuse to obey Him in everything we do. We should fear God and know He can make that decision. We should seek out God’s heart and want to do His will. We are not irreplaceable. We are God’s children but if we continue to do things our way and try to fill our own needs, we can be replaced.
1 Samuel 13:14 “But now your dynasty must end, for the Lord has sought out a man after his own heart. The Lord has already chosen him to be the king over his people, for you have not obeyed the Lord’s command.”
