Working hard all week long to live a lifestyle that is balanced, healthy and enjoyable takes work; there’s no doubt about it. Somehow it seems like Monday-Thursday are the continuous week days that sit at the top of the pile, holding authority over your aspirations and goals. These are the days that you tend to adhere to your plans a little more efficiently until you find yourself at “TFIG.”

As you are thoroughly aware, Friday is our official kickoff to the weekend and typically you have the opportunity to attend many potential events from baby showers, birthday parties and evenings out and about with friends, family and the ones you love. However, it is utterly feasible that you completely negate any hard work and positive strides made during your week. Beware of the “free weekend” imposter pass. It has the potential to erase your diligent eating patterns; it seems to sneak up on you before you can even say your name and realize what has been happening since the weekend arrived on your door step. Below you will find some weekend tips to keep it together and roll into bed on Sunday evening with a smile on your face for your continued determination and focus.

~Be sure to fit in exercise prior to your event. It’ll do wonders for your willpower. ~Review your health and wellness aspirations before departing for the event. ~If you have the opportunity to absorb your vision board, do it. ~Wear a fitted outfit and you will be less tempted to overfill your tummy. ~If you decide to drink alcohol beware. All the toasting you do increases the chances that you will arrive at the buffet table with bells on ready to roll. Water up and have a plan. ~Survey the food selection prior to picking up a plate; be thoroughly aware what your choices are, where your trigger foods are lurking and then decide on your platter. ~Choose a small plate. Ask for a dessert plate and if anyone questions your need be sure to share with them why you are making the request. It’ll strengthen your passion to succeed.

Not allowing the weekend of happenings and joyful affairs to rain on your health and wellness parade is definitely within your power to control. It is up to you to focus your energy in a way that supports your goals. Only you can create your destiny. Stand tall, hold your ground and be proud of you!
