Cheating can bring about a flow of negative consequences within a relationship, including heartache, mistrust, separation, suffering and pain. The individual who cheats may find themselves grappling with a range of negative effects stemming from their betrayal. This may encompass not only the burden of guilt and shame but also the repercussions they face from others as the news of their cheating becomes public.
The cheater is burdened with an overwhelming shame in society, and the fallout extends to even their family and friends, which in turn could give rise to a big guilt within. Additionally, there is often a heightened sense of anxiety about potential karmic consequences associated with cheating. Unfortunately, the true impact of cheating is often realized only after severe damage has been inflicted upon the relationship.
Cheating can cause a person to suffer painful miseries and prevent them from ever being truly happy. For instance, if a married or committed person cheats on their partner, they will create a negative bond between them that could lead to bitter acts and painful divorces. This can also involve their children and other family members. Additionally, cheating can result in karmic debts that will persist for many lifetimes. It can also hurt the individual's family and immediate surroundings, bringing about shame and a lack of trust in future relationships.
It is disheartening that cheaters often come to understand the gravity of their actions when it is too late. At that point, restoring and repairing the damaged relationship becomes a formidable challenge as they have lost the trust not only of the person affected but also of those related to the person who was cheated. While cheating might offer a fleeting sense of satisfaction, it is accompanied by a lingering sense of guilt and shame that can prove to be a significant obstacle for the cheater attempting to mend the relationship.
But if you sincerely feel guilty for cheating on someone and for putting the relationship at risk, then try asking for forgiveness (Pratikraman). We all know that by hurting anyone, one can never be happy, this is what the law of nature advocates. Any pain caused to other living beings will have to be repaid and that too with interest.
However, with true repentance in our hearts, we can confess our mistakes and ask for forgiveness from them, along with a sincere vow to not repeat the mistake ever again. We can do this in our mind itself, internally, without uttering a single word to the other person to whom we have caused hurt through our thoughts, our words, or our deeds.
Pratikraman helps clear the karmas associated with our act of hurting others. So, ask for forgiveness heartily and get rid of the pain inflicted on the person who was cheated and all the other parties involved. Everything gets cleared with pratikraman; all conflicts, pain, and suffering get reversed and inner peace prevails. It also pacifies the people conce
ed as the negative feelings they have for us start to lessen. It is a remedy to solve our mistakes successfully.
You also have to be aware that even if the relationship does not get repaired, things do not go back to how they were before, we shall continue to ask for forgiveness because doing pratikraman heartily will free us from the karmic bondage and the pain caused to the person(s) conce
ed.
