There are many benefits of feeling connected with the Divine. These benefits include--and are certainly not limited to--increased abundance, well-being, peace of mind, optimism, and/or faith. You do not need to “set time aside” in your life to connect with God, although it’s great if you can.

When you believe in yourself, anything is possible. It's nice if someone else believes in us, and for some that can sure help them to become more confident, but ultimately you have to believe in you for change to happen-because it's what you believe will happen in your life that will happen, not what everybody else thinks.

The French Algerian philosopher, Albert Camus, expounded the philosophy known as absurdism. According to absurdism, although life is meaningless human beings are faced with the dilemma of hankering for meaning in a meaningless world. Camus says that there are three ways of resolving this dilemma: 1) Commit suicide. (Camus rejects this as cowardly.) 2) Believe in a transcendental reality beyond the absurd. (Camus rejects this as philosophical suicide because it amounts to the destruction of reason, which is just as fatal as the suicide of the body.) 3)Accept the Absurd.
Assumptions are made too often and ordinarily will not get anyone too far while trying to get to the bottom of most issues that arise. For some, assuming answers, rather than allowing facts to be discovered, can come naturally to an individual. This person may have used this method for so long without ever fully comprehending the core source of why they assume or how others feel when the inclination is performed.

Sometimes the conflict appears subtle but at other times it is outright war. People have grown up in a sea of discord and have been socialized to expect it and accept it. In other words, fighting is "normal."
We recently received a phone call from one of our clients. She was frantic. She couldn't get it all done. There were so many deadlines. There was so much to produce, and there was so little time. We had a conversation with her and within 10 minutes, she gave up feeling overwhelmed, had gotten back to work and by the end of the day informed us that all of the things that she thought were impossible to get done in time for the deadlines had been completed impeccably and in fact, she had even accomplished more than she dreamt was possible.
December 1, 1974, I was 22 years old and about to give birth to my first child, a little girl already named Maegan. After many hours of hard labor and asking for pain relief I was given a spinal block for anesthesia at the very end of the birth process. The OB/GYN administered it himself instead of following protocol and paging the on call anesthesiologist. He gave it to me too high in the spine and it anesthetized my heart and lungs which shut them down. My then husband was asked to leave and he passed out right outside the labor room door.
It was a cold sunny day in New Jersey and the first thin layers of ice were forming on our pond. We were scheduled to go to Pilates that day, our private exercise class with a trainer, but we liked doing some cardio workout first. Usually, weather permitting, we would take a walk through town before our class. Even with the sun out the cold was not appealing, so we opted for a more rigorous half-hour of exercise on our treadmill and elliptical machines. Here is what happened:
In this world where technology has eclipsed our humanity, many of us are looking for a way to operate in our lives that fulfills our spiritual nature. People have tried different religions or disciplines with varying degrees of success or failure. They have taken motivational workshops to try to discover some meaning to apply to their lives and many have come away wondering, "Is this all there is?" This vague sense of emptiness or dissatisfaction, can permeate our lives, even when we accomplish the goals we set for ourselves.

Selflessness caters characteristics more profound within the human psyche than most others that can ever be described or expressed by an individual. One must completely engage their inner standers of compassion to aid another in moments of weakness or hopelessness. The merciful services rendered in absolute trust and self-sacrifice depicts the sheer intent for selflessness.

Are you proud of yourself that you no longer lose your temper, bite your finge ails, or have a messy desk? Perhaps you feel as if you have finally arrived since you no longer wait until the last minute to "do your homework". But have you ever thought that you were finished with a pesky old habit and then unexpectedly find that it is there all over again? You know: You thought you kicked a habit once and for all and suddenly, for no apparent reason, you are nibbling those nails, or procrastinating once again? Bummed when it happens? Don't worry – Think Peppermint!
Why understanding each others values can help resolve conflicts. Assuming that you have taken your time to identify your values, it's very important to become clear about the hierarchy they are in as well. Why is that? Because we can share values with the people we surround ourselves with, but have completely different ways of living them depending on what is most important to us. To show an example; Lets say that you and your new-found romantic partner shares these top values; Love, Health, Adventure, Fun and Wealth. Your hierarchy might look like this: 1. Wealth

Serenity, well-being, feeling OK being you, feeling good in your own skin, not having to second guess your choices, trusting that you will do the right thing, these are but a few of the things we have found while working with people that most folks are striving for. People say they want inner peace but are afraid that what they might have to change about themselves will threaten what they hold to be true. So even though they say they want inner peace, they are afraid to relax into the moment and discover what else is possible.
Did anyone ever say something to you that you found offensive? What did you do: walk away in a huff ... talk back to him or her ... "stand up" for yourself and then feel lousy later? Take the "high road" and feel crummy later? How about lying awake at night, rehearsing all of the better things you could have said ... smarter things you should have said ... or plotting the really good comebacks that you will lay on the offensive party next time you get the chance?
What you already "know" is keeping you from discovering what is possible. There is a story about a college professor who is interested in learning about Zen that demonstrates this idea:
If you're not relating with God at the level you'd like, or if you're just plain "stuck" when it comes to praying, below are some suggestions you may want to consider. If you wish, you can incorporate one of these suggestions into your current prayer practice, or you can use one or more of the suggestions to help you begin talking with God if you haven't already done so.nnHere are a few suggestions to help you talk with God and deepen your relationship.nn* Begin with gratitud
At age 14 I was a willowy little thing with long blonde hair and braces. Not yet old enough to drive, I was grown-up enough to ride the bus from our town of Gresham, Oregon to downtow Portland for my orthodontist appointments. I liked going to Portland - it made me feel worldly and mature. On the way home I frequently stopped at the street corner flower vendors for a bunch of bright mini carnations to bring back for a teacher or the school librarian – just a little gift to give something back to those who were investing in me.
Do you know how to quiet that voice in your head and stop its constant chatter. Are you aware that voice is not you, but your thoughts, some call it ego, masquerading as you. As humans, we seem to travel a wacky backwards path to learning life's lessons. Take, for instance, learning how to live in the present moment - the only moment there truly is. Most of us have to go backwards and forwards to learn how to get right back to where we are - the here and now. We try to live in the past, or we try to quickly get to the future. The million-dollar question is why do we do that?
Happiness is a very popular theme these days and we guess it always has been. From the time we were children, we have been taught that it is better to be happy. There must be a higher love/Without it life is wasted time.” Those are the opening words to one of my favorite Steve Winwood songs. What could a higher love mean in your life — in the life of your clients? Often, during a speaking engagement, I include a potent and important word that has people flinch — “Love.” They try to manage their flinching by adjusting their seats so that their neighbor or I won’t notice. But, however subtle the movement, there it is. I’m not sure wha

Below is an article investigating a driving force in people's lives, their agendas. There are agendas that people are aware of and then there are those of which they are unaware. It is the latter that causes the mischief that shows up in our daily lives. In this column, we are going to identify some of the typical types of agendas the two of us have seen during the course of working with people over the past 12 years. It has been our experience that when people see what they have been doing mechanically and don't judge what they see, they then have a choice to continue their actions or not.
What do you think when you see a stranger look at you, for only a moment, yet smile at you with a type of grace and almost gratitude? Does it bother you ? Do you turn around to make sure they are actually smiling at you or assume they have seen someone they know behind you? Or do you simply smile back with the same emotion they have given to you?
This month is the 10th anniversary of the tragedy of 9/11, 2001. Below is the transcript of an interaction we had with a participant at a Monday Night Alive! shortly after those devastating events. As we read it, we felt that that interaction is still appropriate and applicable to the lives of people today. So we are sharing this article with you to read with fresh eyes.
Here I will relate my first big spiritual awakening and experience of oneness. I was in college in Vermont, having a bad day. After classes and meetings with teachers, I went back to my dorm room and sat down to meditate. When I sat down, I just surrendered. Not that I knew what surrender was but looking back on it, that was what I did. I didn’t practice a meditation technique; I just accepted all of the insanity that had accumulated that day and gave up, not holding on to anything, not figuring anything out.
The truth of the matter is that I myself or Dherbs.Com has never healed anybody. This is the gospel truth! I have only healed myself and no one else. I don't have the power to heal anyone other than myself. No one can heal another person. No one! To do so would violate Divine law and order. Only God and the human body can heal. To say someone else or some product healed or cured you of a disease is to give your power away to something or someone outside of yourself. Always re
Before we begin to discuss this powerful technique to attain self realization, we need to understand what is keeping us from self realization. We have to realize what we are constantly doing that separates us more and more from our own experience of oneness.

Several years ago my husband and I went to Hawaii to visit our daughter who lived there with her husband and their little daughter. My son-in-law is in the Navy and they were stationed there. They loved Hawaii and even though they were to be transferred to Jacksonville, FL for three years, I knew they would want to return to Hawaii as soon as they could choose their next duty station. On the way home from Hawaii my husband and I discussed how we could support them in buying a home in Hawaii.

We were at an appointment at a local business and the owner, Carol, blurted out, "Do you lock your car while you are here?" We replied, "Yes, always." Carol then continued with what was so obviously on her mind.
Surround yourself with supportive energy and remove yourself from draining people! You do not need to get unfocused and confused by getting involved in other people's dramas and beliefs about life. People around you will most certainty be scared of you when you begin to radiate the powerful being that you are, and they will try to pull you down, but there is no need for you to let them. In fact, you cannot help them if you dip into the negativity with them.
Bob Pike, author of "The Fun Minute Manager" , explains that bosses need to lighten up and that they should strive to create an office culture that is fun and enjoyable. He adds that bringing fun into the workplace reduces employee turnover, increases creativity and innovation, makes employees more productive, and it’s good for the bottom line. A fun work environment is one in which regular activities are scheduled that are designed to uplift people’s spirits and remind them of their value to their boss and to the organization as a whole.

I am always fascinated by what people say about others. Inevitably, what people say about others says mountains about them. I remember one student of mine who loved to complain about his wife's communication ability. He loved to tell the class, "She's got an attitude. She never makes sense. She ...

One emotion and state of mind that most people feel is the most difficult to deal with is the sense of not having any clarity about anything. We feel powerless, clueless and frustrated by not knowing what we want, why things are as they are, what to do, which way to go and we can place ourselves in a very negative space by obsessing or feeling guilt over not knowing. Thinking that we should know, that everybody else seem to have a grand plan for their lives while we don't even know what to have for dinner.
Many of us do not feel our emotions fully, especially emotions we tend to think of as negative; for instance, anger, sadness, fear, hate, doubt, shame, jealousy, and resentment. Regardless of why we do not feel our emotions, the end result is the same. We:nn* Lose personal power and ...
Do you remember when you learned to walk? Of course not. But whether you remember it or not, you had a great teacher: gravity. Gravity is the greatest teacher. It is never angry. It is never frustrated with you when you fall off balance. It is implacable, impartial, relentless, and uncompromising. You cannot pacify gravity by being on good behavior. Gravity is never sentimental.

Recently, a fellow came to see us who considers himself an adult. According to the story of his life, he has survived his painful childhood. But his interpretation of the childhood which he survived comes from the distortions and misrepresentations of a child’s mind. Let’s be specific. “David” has spent many years seeing different therapists and psychiatrists, examining his childhood as a way of explaining his adult failings, depressions, and sense of insufficiency, inadequacy, and insecurity.
What if you are doing your life perfectly? What if the things that you think are failings on your part are not really failings at all? Has it ever occurred to you that as a child you perfectly absorbed information from your environment, learning wholeheartedly when your brain was not yet able to disce truth from fiction nor to apply reason and thought? Our friends Amy and Andy have a beautiful little boy, Alex. We were privileged to be at the hospital when he was born and have watched him on his journey from infancy to early childhood.
Rose's soul was crying out to God, "Is there a man in the world for me?" And the answer she received was a resounding "No!" "Ah, but there is one. Love him and lead him to Me. Then we will see if there is a man in the world for you." And so bega Rose's quest for her soul mate.
In his bestselling book, "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People", Stephen R. Covey lists the seven habits that people need to adopt in order to succeed. These seven habits are the following: • Habit 1: Be Proactive • Habit 2: Begin With the End in Mind • Habit 3: Put First Things First • Habit 4: Think Win/win • Habit 5: Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood • Habit 6: Synergize • Habit 7: Sharpen the Saw The first habit, which states that you should be proactive, lays the foundation for the other six habits.
You may have heard the word kundalini but never experienced or even knew what it was. Kundalini normally lies dormant in most people but for those trained, it often awakens with a vengeance. The word kundalini means coil in Sanskrit. It describes the coil of 3 circles in every individual. It is an energy source that cleanses the charkas and develops them into full-blooming lotus forms. The awakening of your energy source to cleanse these until it reaches the crown chakra located at the top of your head.
It was still cool at 6:30 in the morning as we strolled barefoot with Susan dow Costa Rica's Manuel Antonio beach. We were in the midst of one of our Costa Rican Self Discovery Adventures that we hold each winter. People come from all over the world to join us and use it as a time to get away from the normal routine of one's life and relax. Sometimes we are on a roll in our lives where everything feels like it's going really well and flowing effortlessly. And then we add something new - something that is out of the norm from our every day life. We stretch a little bit out of our comfort zone and expect things to continue flowing. And sometimes they do. But sometimes we come across obstacles where we didn't expect them to be. Sometimes we even come across road blocks that seem to be right in the way of reaching our dreams.
Are You Tired of Being Taken for Granted? “Sing like no one's listening, love like you've never been hurt, dance like nobody's watching, and live like its heaven on earth.”-Mark Twain It happens every single day and whether we like it or not, we cannot control it. Other people’s unconscious inaction. How many times have you gave your all to someone you dearly care about, simply to discover that they don’t have the slightest intention of acknowledging your thoughtful actions?

Tao Te Ching: Verse 76 A man is born gentle and weak. At his death he is hard and stiff. Green plants are tender and filled with sap. At their death they are withered and dry. Therefore the stiff and unbending is the way of death. The gentle and yielding is the way of life. Thus an army without flexibility never wins a battle. A tree that is unbending is easily broken. The hard and strong will fall. The soft and weak will overcome. What is Lao Tzu asking us to consider in Verse 76? It seems he is asking us to be flexible
Yesterday I treated myself to a couple of TED talks. For those who do not know what a TED talk is let me briefly explain. TED stands for Technology Entertainment and Design. It has expanded to other topics since its inception in 1984, and has had speakers from all over the world who are innovators in their field. A quick search on YouTube on TED Talks, and you are there.

Have you been experiencing that lately that people are always late to always late for meetings? That's the law of attraction in action; somehow you haven't been true to your own values. It's never about the other people really; it's about us being firm and clear about what we want and staying true to ourselves. And we are the ones who teach others how to treat us, it's we that need to set up some boundaries and let others know about them. We don't need to tell them about our preferences or anything, but we do need to act accordingly to what is true to us.
It's about self realization, and to come to the realization that before we can 'have' anything, we must feel it inside. Because everything is from and through you and me, we can't give what we don't realize we have. I say realize, because the world is create from within, with the power of our minds, and when the heart and mind is congruent, or in alignment; magic happens. If there is only mind and no heart, we can forget about true happiness. It's about awareness. Awareness about our thoughts and feelings, and awareness of the awareness behind them. Who is the thinker?
Self realization is the realization of the Self, or Atman. The Self can be related to the experience of impersonal being, or the sense that you are pure consciousness, or that you are silence itself or awareness itself. Self realization is also the freedom from the sense of being a personal “me.” You transcend your ego identity and realize that you always were and always will be consciousness itself.

Anger-although a normal emotion that can be a powerful signal that something is wrong--can be a very uncomfortable feeling. By developing skills that will enable you to express your needs and desires in a manner that displays respect for yourself and for others, you'll be managing your anger effectively. In addition, by lessening the intensity of your anger through holistic methods, you'll be able to calm yourself down so that you can be tranquil and relaxed when you communicate your feelings to others. This game changes your universe. It’s portable, simple to use in your daily life plus it’s empowering. Play it and you can liberate joy from within. It gets to the heart of problems you have with others so long standing issues can be cleared. “Perception is projection,” means that whatever you perceive to be outside yourself is ---on some level--- part of you. Jung summarised this when he said, “you marry your unconscious mind and then spend the rest of your life projecting out onto it”.
Ask Astrid: When does Fantasy become reality? Is it truly possible to live in a dream, to imagine all sorts of weird things and believe they are real? Or are we all just going cookoo?! Definition... A subliminal message by definition is, a signal or message designed to pass below the normal limits of ones perception. For example it might be inaudible to the conscious mind (but audible to the subconscious mind) or might be an image transmitted very briefly and unperceived on a conscious level yet perceived on a subconscious level. Subliminal messages are messages in the form of written and spoken words and images or pictures. Subliminal comes from the Latin word "sub" meaning under and "limen" which means threshold. Your mind is a valuable tool that most people don't use to its fullest. If everyone used it to the maximum capability, there would be no more war, illness or anger. We simply access a small portion. This is not true of every civilization or person. Some use means to increase their awareness and access the supe atural powers of their mind. It proves that we all are capable. Taoist of China had a background that acknowledged mysticism and control of the elements. Like many early civilizations, they practiced shamanism.
If you are really passionate about spiritual awakening then spiritual discipline is most important. For spiritual awakening to happen there must be that build up of energy and there must be that in-your-face awareness of yourself. You see, the moment your go for that beer, that glass of wine, that bag of junk food, that sexual release you escape your experience and you lose that build up of energy that was there inside you. The escape feels good. It feels like a relief, but then afterwards, that Shakti is gone and you are left feeling empty and depressed.
Guardian angels have long been watching over us. Since time began, and in every culture, angels have been with us in one form or another. Representations of the angelic realms tend to come to us at times of personal, spiritual awakening. Therefore, it comes as no surprise that records of angelic interventions are found in almost all the systems of religious belief from Christianity and Judaism to Islam. Both the Old and New Testaments of the Bible contain plenty of angel stor
This one word of one syllable, this little four-letter word causes so much trouble and prompts so many people to ask questions of its nature and its hold on us. Most questions about fear have to do with getting rid of it, overcoming it, fighting it, and last but not least, being free of it.
Are you living an authentic life? When you look at yourself in the mirror, do you know and like who you see? Is there anything that you aren't being truly honest about with yourself or others? Is the "you" that you represent to the world the "you" that you really are? I thought it was interesting the other day when a friend posted on Facebook that they sure hoped they could live up to their profile there. In one of his stand-up routines, Chris Rock talks about dating and how we tend to send our representative to make a great impression.
I was watching Oprah last night, and she had Nadya Suleman as a guest. She had octuplets a couple of years ago and, as you might imagine, was feeling extremely overwhelmed and worried about how she was going to continue to care for her family. In this show, Oprah talked about how our society is addicted to judging others. Nadya has been put through the wringer in the press and judged very harshly by the public. And while her situation is extreme - we can all relate to her in some way. We have all had days when we just felt like we couldn't do it anymore.
First of all, put yourself in a meditative state of mind. Meditation is, like Michael Beckwith puts it so wonderfully; "to pay undistractable attention to Reality" It's so true; and so we begin with that. Close your eyes. Get yourself into a vibration of unconditional love, get still, with the intention to listen deeply to whatever comes when asking the following questions. Put yourself in a relaxed state of mind; an attentive stillness. Pay attention to your breathing, and when (slowly) ask yourself these questions and listen deeply.
"If you practice being present in meditation, you will find even beyond the thinking that there is this reflexive urge to separate yourself from this moment. It is almost like two magnets that repel each other with all of their strength. This is the ego. You could even define the ego as the action of separation from this moment. Because if you are fully present in this moment, there is no ego. There is no sense of "me." There is still awareness but all inclusive awareness. There is nothing separate from it. You can experience this at any time.
I recently asked a Chabad rabbi if he believed in conscious creation - combining thought and feeling to manifest our dreams and desires - and if he found this principle within the teachings of Kabbalah. "Of course," he replied. "Despite all the conversations today about The Law of Attraction (like attracts like) and secret manifestation processes, Kabbalists have known these things for ages." Then he added, "But most of these other people teaching these principles leave out one really important aspect - the real secret." "The need for action?" I asked.
The first meditation tip is to not eat or drink anything besides water for at least an hour and a half prior to meditation. The reason for this is for one, the body will be busy digesting your food making it much harder for it to relax. Second, because meditation is awakening the subtle energy. (also known as Kundalini Shakti or Chi) And for this to happen, you want to keep your physical body as light and clear as possible.
Sit comfortably and take a few slow, deep breaths. Settle your awareness in your heart. Now ask yourself this difficult question: What is wrong with me? Although we spend much of our lives disguising and suppressing the answers to this question, this is your opportunity to access it. You carry negative self-judgments because youâve accepted the opinions of others as legitimate. This is the time to challenge their validity. To help begin the process, look at the following li

In my profession, I’m often asked what tarot cards are and how people “read” them. Simply put: tarot cards are a tool -- nothing more, nothing less. They happen to be a really good tool if you consistently use them the same way. These days you have “tarot” cards that are not “tarot” at all. In fact, even the classic tarot decks include added cards and pictures that came after card-reading ever began. So if you’re relying on magical cards to tell you the truth, forget it. Paper, print and pictures came long after divination was born.
I believe that there is something called fate, and then there is destiny. Fate is something that we decided before we were born. We decided to learn things in this particular lifetime that may not be to our physical being’s liking—perhaps having abusive parents or some sort of addiction. For you, now, from a human only perspective, you might feel victimized or unfortunate, whatever it might be, while your inner being, the Spirit that is the real you, chose the learning experiences to grow because of them and become more, to expand.
Lucid dreaming is one method of solving difficult problems you have during the waking hours. Since your mind isn't focusing on other tasks as you sleep, like sensory input, it allows it to be far more creative. If you've ever forgotten a name, a date or even something important you wanted to tell someone and simply decided to quit stressing and allow it to simply come to you, you'll understand how lucid dreaming works. You relax your thoughts and the solutions find you rather than the other way around. Scientists, artists and novelists often find important information in lucid dreams.
There are moments in each of our lives when we know small steps need to be taken in the hope to attain and maintain major, life changing outcomes and new abilities. The problem being, some are not sure what step needs to be taken to get actually get there.
A great number of self-improvement gurus speak of wealth. If you turn on the television, surf the internet, go to the book store and look at the best sellers list, a great number focus on financial well-being. There are those who speak of other aspects of self-improvement; however, the majority promote that which will fill the seats: monetary gain. Even the great Napoleon Hill, of Think and Grow Rich fame, spoke of financial wealth even though he invoked religious and spiritual themes.
Let's face it. New Year's Resolutions are bogus. Who invented these instruments of torture anyway? Was it some evil Cardinal in the Catholic Church who used the practice of writing down the faults we wish to change as a method of selling more indulgences to the peasants? Okay, now I'm making crazy talk. Of course there's nothing sinister about self-examination and setting up intentions to release unwanted baggage in our lives. But why do so many people feel cranky and depressed at the very thought of this tradition?
People were surprised when Kat stood up at one of our seminars and without preamble, enthusiastically announced, “I love airports!” It was a Monday evening in early spring and we had encouraged people to come up to the front of the room and talk about what was happening in their lives. Kat is a petite, dynamic woman in her late twenties, with shoulder length aubu hair. Standing on the balls of her feet and leaning toward the group, she grinned as she said, “Recently I flew back from the West Coast and I had a layover in Chicago where they’d had a sudden snow storm.
Early in 2001, while teaching the ancient wisdom teachings to my students, I explained to them that we were going to enter a period of time where in order to evolve as human beings, we were first going to go through a challenging and difficult time where it would seem as if all was lost and that the darkest nature of man would appear in many forms. I went on to explain that from the period of 2007-2014, we would see some of the worst of this lower level energy on display, as we were shifting from the last of a patriarchal age, into a new age of the divine feminine.
We all have stories that we tell about ourselves based on the way we perceive our lives. Some of those stories may be in which we make ourselves victims and some are one in which we allow ourselves to be inspiring to ourselves and others. Here’s an example: 1) I’m 50 years old and I’m young for my age. I got laid off my job and got the opportunity to relax, exercise, take a good hard look at my life and what I wanted and reinvent myself. The government sends me money (unemployment checks) while I’m doing this.
Paying attention to our intuition from the beginning can save us from a lot of heartache. I love this quote by Oprah Winfrey: "In little whispers... your intuition is telling you something. Did you not pay attention? The universe will speak to you a little louder - with a little tap on the shoulder. Then you get hit in the head by a "brick". Still not paying attention? A brick falls on you. Still not hearing it? Then you experience a full-blown earthquake".
The law of gratitude is much like the law of gravity in that we know it exists, we know to a certain degree what it is, we know that it is at work whether we are consciously aware of it or not. We don’t have to think about gravity to know that it keeps planets in alignment and us on the face of the Earth. We don’t have to think about it to know that it causes the ebb and flow of the oceans. With gratitude however the more we are conscious and are aware of it and express it, the more we are given for which to be grateful.
If you are seeking enlightenment, it is important to understand that there is a huge difference between the new age spiritual teachers that are popular today and the enlightened beings who have actually attained full enlightenment. In the past, the majority of enlightened beings came from the East, places like India, China, Korea and Japan. Historically, teachings on spiritual enlightenment probably started out in India. From there it branched into Hinduism, Buddhism and then traveled further east turning from Buddhism, to Zen.
I remember the first time I saw him. I had just turned 18 and was at my first, yes my first, boy girl party. He was tall dark and very handsome and he oozed confidence. I was shy and a bit of a wallflower, but he wandered over and asked me my name. From that day on we would be inseparable. My family approved, as he was charming and attractive and he said all of the right things. I remember my grandmother once saying how he seemed to not take his eyes off of me, a good thing I thought at the time.
In the Conclusion to 'Walden', Thoreau writes, "If a man loses pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music which he hears, however measured, or far away." Aquarians are eclectic and imaginative thinkers ~ sometimes erratic, sometimes brilliant and always stubborn. Yes, Aquarians are thinkers who know much about the world, but knowing "everything" often becomes an obstacle to their own happiness. As Einstein said, "Great spirits have often encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds."
The most important decision you ever make is whether you live in a friendly universe or a hostile universe, according to Einsteinâs great genius. So, either you see the world as a positive or a negative environment, you are right. After a lifetime of struggling with depression and a constant feeling that Iâm not supposed to be in this world, not long ago, I found myself facing a life-changing choice: would I be defeated by my pain and misfortune or would I completely chan
In 2005 I lost my partner in a tragic car accident about 4 miles from our home. We had just moved into our beautiful new home one week earlier. Though I have experienced many difficulties in my life, this was by far the most traumatic and unexpected event to occur. I began intensive research over the next year trying to gain some answers and ways connect with him. During this time I began seeing 11:11 everywhere, so much so that it wasn't just coincidence. It may feel to many of us that we can do little at this point in time to help create peace in the world. However, by just being conscious of our thoughts we might, indeed, be able to move ourselves and the rest of the world just a little bit closer to this goal. We can find peace if we only become conscious of where we place our attention.
Mindfulness meditation is really the essence of meditation and yoga. And if you practice this Zen technique given below not only in your sitting meditation but in your day-to-day life, it will help lead you into deep states of meditation and even self realization. Your natural experience of life will be one of unconditional peace and bliss. Mindfulness meditation means to allow everything to come and go while remaining resting in the present moment. So first, allow yourself to breathe. Allow the breath to move in and out as it wants without trying to control it in any way.
When one thinks of their motivation, they may think about what drives them to carry onward to maintain or complete an ultimate goal. Reaching inside yourself to actually find the motivation is not only the most crucial step, but can be complicated for some. If every challenge in life was easy, then they wouldn’t be called challenges. The “easy” button cannot be pushed or click a pair of red heels together either.
Dear Keith and Maura, I broke up with my love last August, but still now I have his feelings. I didn't know why he left me without even telling me. I stayed for some time but now am dying of his love. What do I do? Please help as soon as possible. Broken Hearted in Kenya Dear Broken Hearted, We can understand how you feel, because we've been there. When the one you love most does not return your feelings, it can seem like your world is coming to an end -- like life has no meaning.
I first learned about saying affirmations many years ago after reading Louise Hay's books. She is an expert on them, and they were a huge part of her recovery from cancer. They can be both powerful and life changing. If you haven't said affirmations before, it might feel a bit strange at first. Especially when what you are saying doesn't feel real yet. For example, say your affirmation is, "I live a calm, balanced life." You created this affirmation because this is what you want for yourself - this is how your ideal life looks.
Why should we write down our goals and dreams on paper? Here's 22 reasons why: 1. Thoughts get easily forgotten and lost in everyday life - We think lots of thoughts everyday; about 60 000 of them everyday! 2. By writing our goals down on paper, we are clarifying what is most important to us. 3. Writing down our goals and dreams eliminates distraction. 4. It helps us have a reference point of in what direction we want to go. 5. It becomes a personal road map to have our goals written down. 6. It helps us review our goals and progress every day.

The following is my Guides' message for today. The Original Wound At the very core there is a wound, a perceived wound from the original “sin,” our supposed “departure” from Source, from the moment we chose to leave the Divine Nest in search of our Self. We mistakenly perceive this as abandonment, as the Divine turning a cold back to us, because we have forgotten that it was our own choice, our will to leave and to pursue this very long, drawn out search for Truth, to Know
Do you have a vision board? A place where you put up pictures and words that best represent your dreams and goals that you would like to attract into your life? The idea behind the vision board is to get you THERE. To put yourself into your ideal life and actually FEEL what it's like to be there. Your mind truly doesn't know the difference between actuality and feeling. And the way the law of attraction works is to manifest everything you want in your life by feeling as though you already have it. This is where the vision board can be so helpful.
What is going on with smart women out there lately? I routinely answer blogs, questions, and see clients on many topics relating to low self esteem, and negative self images. Since my book; "Through the Door!": A Journey to the Self, came out, there has been quite an increase in this line of questioning.
There are so many chances one has to transform and change the various assortment of events that take place within the mind, from how it perceives the day to day functions to how it perceives oneself. These transformations feature an array of diverse inner layers and can be thought of as a start and finish or an opening and closure. What is filled in the middle is up to only the beholder of those thoughts and actions.
"In order to witness thoughts, you have to allow the thinking, you have to become completely passive. It is like leaving all ofrnthe doors wide open so the wind can flow through. You do not try and define the wind, understand the wind or analyze the wind. You do not get involved with the content of the mind at all. It just flows. If you can watch thoughts in this way, you will see that there is just a flow of thoughts. That what you call mind is just a flow of thoughts, a flow of energy. Moving by itself without any contraction or stress whatsoever.
The law of attraction has become THE buzzword in the last several years through the books and trainings of Esther and Jerry Hicks, Mike Dooley’s work, the movie “The Secret” and others. But it has been around a very long time. Charles Haanel wrote his book “The Master Key System” in 1912, and Wallace D. Wattles, wrote his book “The Science of Getting Rich” in 1910. And way before that, most spiritual texts, including the bible, speak of prayer and focusing on what it is you desire, believing that it will manifest.
For years I have considered the notion of living a balanced life as very important however in practice, it seemed elusive. I wasnât entirely certain what balanced meant. How far do I need to move the needle on the gauge in one area of my life to get things on course without another area coming off course in the process of diverting my attention? After having read Stephen Covey's "The 8th Habit - From Effectiveness to Greatness" a few years back, I was able to see things fro
Anger is an emotion that can be observed even in babies. For them, so much is new, and their developing command of of their own bodies challenges them and produces frustration that is manifested as anger. The interesting part is that, in the very young, manifestations of anger are natural. Almost right away, the infant observes the reaction that all of their actions have on those around them. They quickly learn which behaviour gets what kind of response from their parents.
If all existence is energy and energy is inherently vibrational, it follows that everything in existence is vibrating at one rate or another. In the case of human beings, we are informed about where or how we are vibrating through our emotions. When we have emotions that feel good, we are ... First, as I've stated before, you need to spend the time reflecting on your strengths: innate talents, abilities, gifts, and desires. After a long period of reflecting, writing and trial and error, you will find what you came here to this life to do.
Spirit speaks through your “Heart” – the highest, deepest part of your Heart where Soul connects – and you will find that your heart has a lot to say. No matter how many times you may have overridden it, ignored it or denied it, it will continue to speak in the same soft, loving, gentle voice it always has, and it will tell you all that you need to know. It will be there to guide you and to shine a light on your path, the path that brings you the greatest joy you will ever ex
How would it feel if you packed you and your life into a suitcase and attempted to live out of this confined space? How restricted would the energy flow be in there? This is what happens when you choose to identify with being an ego instead of a soul inca ate, you choose to live in the fear farm. All human actions are motivated at their deepest level by one of two emotions – fear or love. There are only two emotions – only two words in the language of the soul. Fear is the energy which contracts, closes down, draws in, runs, hides, hoards and harms.

Robert Lewis Stevenson wrote “The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde" in 1886. The central theme of the story is of two very different men who inhabit the same body. His characterization of the respectable Dr Jekyll, who turns into the ugly and deformed Mr Hyde has so griped the collective imagination that this story of duality is well known by virtually everyone. The story is about the ego and it’s shadow, that dark feared part of our self that follows us wherever we go and “can look even the more sinister the more we try to stand in the light.”
Anger is a healthy, normal emotion when you know how to express it appropriately. Anger management is about learning how to do this. Like Aristotle said, it’s about being angry with the right person, to the right degree, at the right time, for the right purpose, and in the right way. Below you’ll find eight tips to help you take the edge off when you get angry, so that you can deal with your anger appropriately and respond to the situation effectively. 1. Take a time out. If you can, remove yourself from the situation that is making you angry until you can calm down.
“Never let another shatter your dreams”. This is what we are told while, normally, very young perhaps as we grow into our older years as well. The concept for this statement always remains the same being that it is still 100% true! "Dreams? Oh, now I get it", I remember saying to myself several years back once I finally began having dreams of my own and to actually serve an overall purpose. As a child, I had no idea what this meant while a child and sure I was not alone on the subject. As I matured, I realized these words to be more meaningful than ever imagined.
How do you cope with a world filled with foreclosures, job losses, natural disasters, and social changes? A famous line from the movie “The Karate Kid” says it all: “Balance is key.” Here are ten ways to maintain your sense of balance in a chaotic world. 1) Breathe! When we are stressed we tend to hold our breath. Pay attention to your breathing. Take a moment now to first fill your belly with air and allow it to expand and then fill your chest. Exhale the air from your belly first and then from your chest. Take several more deeps breaths.
Have you ever pondered why we come here to Planet Earth? Where you come here from?
If you are looking to attain nonduality and oneness, you first have to come face to face with your experience of duality, your experience of conflict. If you are lucky enough in meditation, you will come to the point where you cannot take it anymore. You will come right up against your resistance to this moment and will feel that you have to get up, you have to distract yourself from this moment. Meditation will become too uncomfortable.
“The way we view life, our perspective, determines how we respond to life. And how we respond to life determines how we experience life” What if there was a way to change your experience of life? To see life not as it appears, but as the potential it promises. What if you could fully manifest the power that flows through you and within you? How might your life be different if you knew you were living in alignment with your soul’s mission?
"If you want to be free of anxiety then notice and feel this: life is happening in this moment. You are not doing this moment, you are not making this moment happen. It is here on its own. If you really notice your experience in this moment, existence is happening. And if you disagree, if you think you are creating yourself to exist in this moment, then stop existing. Go on. In trying to stop existing you only become more and more aware of this sensation of existing. And this sense of existing cannot be changed orrnmanipulated by your thinking. Existence isr
My Miraculous Healing Written by Marijke Verkerk april 2010 My personal healing will ever be the most convincing evidence of our subconscious powers. If you want to become enlightened, there are certain things that are pretty much necessary to follow in order for you to really move deep into the enlightened state. Regardless of your spiritual path or beliefs, if you follow these 5 steps to become enlightened, you will be well on your way. The first step to become enlightened is shaktipat. Also knows as Kundalini Shakti, Deeksha or Grace, shaktipat is the spiritual energy that awakens you to enlightenment.
Excerpt taken from Erica's forthcoming book Zesty Womanhood at 40 and Beyond: Second Act, New Role “The most fundamental principle of love is knowing who you really are, at the purest level of soul, beneath the encumbrances of human restrictions and limitations, in particular, not being allowed to indulge natural human emotions.” Before we can learn to love, we must understand what love is to us. What is this thing that connects us in the Universe?
What Is In Your Aura? Believe it or not, your Aura, also called your Electro-Magnetic Field and your Bio-Energy Field, has various bands of consciousness that provide information about you. Your Aura field gives out vibrations and frequencies that other individuals “pick-up”. If there is compatibility, a match is made, whether romantic or friendship, you are resonating with another person. If there is no resonance, the other individual could be perceived as an “enemy” or least someone that you don’t like!
A very important topic, presented in Q&A form: Have the category of souls known as nitya-baddha always been in the material hemisphere, hence the term "ete ally conditioned"? According to the philosophy of some Gaudiya Vaisnava groups this is the case. They say that the nitya-baddhas have never ever been in the spiritual world, thus the term "ete ally conditioned" and that the nitya-siddhas have never left Krishna's association.
It’s interesting to see how much confusion there is in life as we stare at what is right in front of us through the veil of the beliefs, concepts and stories we live by. We do not see the world as it is, we see it as we believe ourselves to be. The core beliefs which our life experiences reflect have been with us so long we don’t even realize they aren’t the truth, so even when we are looking right at it, the truth remains hidden from our awareness.
Ask Astrid - How can I shift out of a downward spiral? Do you pick up a cigarette when you're feeling uncomfortable and needing to "leave". Are you the kind that blows up, or goes running? And when you're spinning down, do you refuse to get out of bed? To take flight or refuge from going downwards is Natural! Don't beat yourself up for it. It's your way of saying, "Stop. I need time - to myself." But do it right. Go and do take time for yourself. Find that safe, healthy, comfortable place where you can recuperate.
Have you ever wanted to tap into your spiritual self and struggled to get there? This does not mean getting in touch with God or your higher power, this means getting in touch with the genuine you. The who you are, not the what you are. Once you try these 3 steps for tapping into your spirituality, you will see that the process is a very simple, yet effective one.
We’ve all had moments where nothing seems to be going our way. Your day just isn’t working out the way you had hoped it would. In fact, when you really start to think about it, you realize that it’s not just that your day or week or year that isn’t working out: your life isn’t working out. And in realizing this, you begin to spiral downward into the deepest despair. You are quickly entering a place where nothing ever works, no one is ever on your side, you are never good enough, no one understands you, things never fall into place, and disaster strikes at any given moment.

This statement…”Life is never what you think it is” is the perfect statement you can say when life doesn’t turn out to be what you thought it was going to be? Do you ever know what life is going to be? Yes and No!
There was a great wise man who lived in a tiny village in Tibet. He was constantly sought out for his wisdom by the villagers. He was very kind and patient. His neighbors had a very beautiful unmarried daughter. She was in love with the butcher's son but saw him in secret as she knew her parents wouldn't approve. One day her parents noticed that she was expecting a child. They flew into a rage as they saw this as a disgrace on their family. They demanded to know who the father was but she refused to tell them as she wanted to protect the boy she loved from her parent's wrath.
What self realization is will always remain a mystery because the mind cannot describe what is beyond the mind. But the teachings to learn how to attain self realization are quite simple and straight forward. Follow these steps and you will also enjoy deep states of meditation and may even attain self realization. First and foremost, if you want to attain self realization it is most important to sit with a fully enlightened meditation master or guru. If you sit with such a Guru, you should feel their presence, their Shakti. (spiritual energy)
Lucid dreaming may occur intentionally or quite by accident. Many often have a lucid dream by accident and realize they can control the destiny of their dreams. A lucid dream occurs when the dreamer realizes he's asleep and dreaming and takes control of the dream. It may be to solve a problem in waking life, control a problem within the dream or simply direct the dream to an enjoyable experience. Athletes, actors and dancers often practice their avocation during a lucid dream. Everyone has had a lucid dream at least once in a lifetime.
Back in the Middle Ages alchemists sought to transform base metal into gold. They searched for an elusive substance, the philosopher’s stone, which would bring about this conversion, known as alchemy. But to initiates of the ancient mystery schools, alchemy was primarily an allegory for the real work of spiritual and mental alchemy.
Past Lives - we have all had them - some more than others, yet the fact remains we all have some experience of lives before this one. All of us have at least some Karmic Debt that is still playing out in our lives today, sometimes it is also useful to understand what that debt is and why you seem to be repeating patterns. So before we start there are a few things I feel I must say to you.rnFirstly do not be disappointed if you find the life you lead previously is not someone
By changing your behavior the world changes too. Your inner growth can't be seen by others and while it may seem to others that you are just the same you have been for years, they can't see what has happened in your inner domain if they don't know you very well of course. Little by little when we become more aligned with our true self we begin to change the way we act in the world, we loose interest in things that once was important and we find more depth in our being. Our words starts to change, the inner ones first and then also what we say out loud.
It has been observed that suggestions, planted in the subconscious, become memories, and eventually tend to exte alize in the body. From this, it has been deduced that the sub-conscious mind is the builder of the body and is the creative factor in man. It has also been proven that certain types of thought produce certain kinds of results. This shows that the subjective mind takes our suggestions and tends to act upon them, no matter what the suggestion may be. While the Insti

Give yourself the liberty to take ownership of your natural gifts! What if what seems to be impossible can actually be very possible? Are you willing to find out just how creative you really are? Would you dare to imagine something bold, unique and unbelievable and then know that it can come true? Are you brave enough to risk the task
There's a quote I really like: "I've never began any important venture for which I felt adequate prepared" by Sheldon Kopp. The only thing that ever holds us back is fear, nothing else. And fear can be described as worry, anxiety, doubt and anxiety. It's all fear, and fear is always from the ego. The ego wants us to stay small and not to move outside the familiar, it likes it where it can keep you a bit agitated and fearful at all times to some extent and where you can stay inside 'the box' and not make much of yourself.
Know that only you have the power and great luxury to feel empowerment to change. To change the way we feel, see, hear, smell, taste the world’s overwhelming compassion is something to figure out how to embrace yourself. There are people wanting to change defined boundaries they have placed for themselves, but what in our mind can help the change we want become an influential reality?
~ sometimes erratic and sometimes brilliant. " Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocrities. The latter cannot understand it when a man does not thoughtlessly submit to hereditary prejudices, but honestly and courageously uses his intelligence and fulfills the duty to express the results of his thought in clear form." ~ Albert Einstein The name Albert Einstein has become synonymous with genius. The scientific definitions of our modern age ~ from the Bomb to space travel, electronics and quantum physics ~ all reflect his amazing radical thinking.
I have managed several employees over the years and I'm always surprised with the amount struggling with change and the fear to transform particular areas of their job description or to even grasp new information. The first week of one job in particular, I recall watching the staff to learn, specially, how they worked as a team and on their own. The same week, a few had come to me for advice. They asked with the assumptio I would merely give the answer and they could simply be on their way. As a manager, that was not how I functioned.
There are four spiritual principles I believe we are to understand, live and master during our life time(s) on Earth. They are unconditional love, gratitude, forgiveness and non-judgment. To me the most important, the most impactful, and perhaps the most difficult, is non-judgment. Now it could be argued that unconditional love, our innate state of being, is the most important. Unfortunately this isn’t the state in which most of us live. It is through the mastery of the other three, which arise from non-judgment, that we get back to unconditional love.
"For your enlightenment, we want to get you out of your mind, out of the controlled idea that you are an intelligent and together person and into what is here in this moment beyond such ideas. The mind is always trying to put things in order. But once the mind puts things in order, you are out of touch with what is here. Unconsciously, the mind has an image of how a perfect person should be and the mind tries to emulate that. Not on a conscious level, you are not intentionally doing it. But once you do it, then consciousness
"If you can get tornthe point in witnessing in meditation, where you realize that everything is moving by itself, then you drop out of any idea of yourself and into formless consciousness. The experience of separation is cancelled out and you rest in your natural state. It is here that everything comes right. It is in this that every cell of your being gets healed and transformed back into its natural state of vibrating bliss. It is intoxicating, all encompassing and completely gratifying. From the perspective of the mind, happiness is somethingr
This Valentine's Day, couples and individuals are looking to find and/or strengthen their love relationships. As award-winning authors and world-renowned relationship experts, Ariel & Shya Kane have discovered three simple, yet revolutionary tips for creating magical relationships, based on the idea that you don't need to "work on" your relationship in order to fix it.
"If you try and still the mind, it will be the mind trying to still the mind. Rather become aware of the mind. Become aware of the flow of thoughts. Not to define the thought or relate to the thought. But to impersonally be aware of the thought arising and dissapperearing without any attachment or aversion to it. In witnessing the thoughts, they will become more subtle. First the thoughts will become impersonal. You will experience visions and dreamlike states that have nothing to do with you or your personal life. At this stage of witnessing you are free
The universal law of attraction is not working for you as you'd perhaps like it to work and it could be for this reason: the laws of the universe, the law of attraction in particular as I'm writing about in this article is not to be approached with an attitude that we are going to "try it out for a couple of weeks to see if it works". How do you think of the law of attraction? What is your attitude towards it?
Forgiveness and letting go of the past is empowering and freeing. You do it for you and not to let others "of the hook". Give yourself the gift of forgiveness. How to forgive? When I was younger I used to say that I can forgive but I can't forget, and in a way that's good advice if it is understood correctly. I could easily leave people behind who had done me wrong, and by not forgetting what they did I usually didn't make the same mistakes twice, and by forgiving I could easily let them go from my life even if they had been very close to me. I learned and moved on.
Yoga Nidra is deep sleep. Many people mistakenly believe it's twilight sleep, that stage between awake and dreaming, but it's even deeper than that. It goes beyond the dreaming stage and into a state of conscious deep sleep. While that sounds like an oxymoron, it's not. It's the third of the four levels of consciousness where there are no images in the mind. Mental images live in the domain of a waking state, the first level or the dreaming state, the second level.
Vipassana translates as “Clear seeing.” Although there are many meditation techniques associated with Vipassana, the Vipassana technique you are about to learn is one that will allow you to enter the highest states of meditation and spiritual enlightenment. One of the main teachings of Buddhism is impermanence. Everything that arises also disappears. So this meditation technique is about observing this impermanence. Find yourself sitting comfortably preferably without back support, close your eyes and simply notice what is happening in this moment.
"That which you assume yourself to be is not actually a thing, but an action. It is the action holding on. In every moment, you are unconsciously holding on to an idea of who you are. And although this idea of who you are is constantly changing moment to moment, the action of holding on remains the same, giving you the feeling that there is a 'you' moving in time, changing and transforming, learning and growing. But if you become aware of this action of holding on and even for this moment let go of this action of holding, then you fall into this momentr
SEVEN SIMPLE STEPS TO A CREATIVE LIFE THE CREATIVE SAFETY NET Develop the right hemisphere of your brain to visualize and imagine. Think of your future, take positive action towards how you will stay solvent, meet challenges and opportunities in these demanding times. STEP ONE: THE CREATIVE BALANCEr
"Unde eath everything is silence; deep, profound, infinite silence. It is in everything yet remains as nothing. The spiritual path is very slippery because of this. Because the mind is always looking for that next bit of knowledge that might take it to silence, that next quote that temporarily makes you feel good until the next one comes along. And although there isrna 'feel good' experience in this, it does not really take you closer to your essence. Rather, it keeps on empowering the mind, strengthening the intellect. That is the beautiful thingr
"In meditation everything gets stripped down to its essence. All of these seemingly different things, the body, the mind thoughts, emotions, consciousness, outer objects, are revealed to be one thing. And it is not a thing, but rather, it is energy, fluid, moving, conscious energy. And with awareness you begin to recognize this flow of energy. You begin to taste the peace and the bliss that is a result of this flow. So another way to look at meditation or whatever spiritual process you practice is that you are fully awakeningr
"First, realize that someone or something is not making you feel this way. You are feeling this way out of a reaction to what is happening. Blaming only keeps you unconscious. Second, be honest and accept what you feel, this is most important. Don't try and create "positive emotions." This is just the ego trying to impose something it thinks should be here on top of what is really here. You have to really allow yourself to feel what is honestly here and accept it. Perhaps at first what you feel will go and you will findr
The path to spiritual awakening really does not have to be complicated. You simply, with an open mind find the practices that you experience a greater awakening into bliss and you practice them. You should try everything; from yoga breathing exercises, to mantra, to chanting to various methods of meditation and everything in between. And when you find practices that help awaken the divine bliss that is beyond all beliefs and ideas then you follow those practices. You give yourself whole heartedly to them.
Ask any adult human being alive today if they have heard of any special significance given to 2012, and almost without exception, they would say “Yes.” All one needs to do is to look around at the current world condition to see the significance of a changing world in 2012. Of course, these changes did not only occur starting in 2012, but have bee “brewing” and “set into motion” long before the arrival of 2012.
Theoretically, yes. The problem is that we don’t! I’m a Reiki Master. One day, my hand was badly burnt. I had guests over and it took all my smiles to try to forget the pain that was rushing through my sore hand whilst continuing to eat! I was furious at not being able to instantly heal. I was doubting my own ability, doubting the “art,” doubting God … the next day, I did a Reiki session on a woman who had such severe arthritis that she couldn’t move her fingers. Forty-five minutes later, the lady was playing piano again for the first time in years.
"Just stay positive" is what we hear as we grow from children into adults from teachers, parents and peers; however, why are some unable to grasp this concept, while others potentially take it for a great leap of faith?
The very word I have come to embrace the sound is the same so many various individuals miss out or take for granted, some of which deny this word when it comes along each day! It is the notion of endless possibilities to come and even conquer one‘s fears or doubts they may have once had. The term assists with the rise and perhaps the fall of many changes causing surmountable eruptions within a person of any age, gender, race, background or any common or unique denominator.
The ete al wisdom of life – as recorded in the ancient vedic literature – advises us to realize who we really are, and to identify with our real self. By silencing our chattering mind, we easily find out that our real self is pure awareness, pure, unbounded awareness, also known as pure consciousness. Having realized this, we automatically find out that we are neither our mind nor our body. We realize that our mind-body system is an instrument with which we can express ourselves in the world.
This post is a continuation of my previous article, Making Room for Your Dream, where I wrote about making room for your dream. (If you haven’t read it yet, I would definitely recommend reading it before reading on.) Now that we have each taken some time and visualized our dream, sat with it, felt it, and cleared some space for it – it’s time to take action. It’s time for each of us to begin living our dream – bringing it to life – and melding our actual life and our dream life into one.
It's said by some Atlanta astrologers that Margaret Mitchell was an astrologer before she was a writer...and the book that brought "Hollywood to Atlanta" and fame to it's author had a very surprising beginning.
"The mind is simply the action of identifying with thoughts. Thoughts arise and you take on the thoughts as your identity. You place all importance on them. The thought arises,rn'this is not the way it is supposed to be' and you claim ownership of that thought. You take that thought to be about you and that defines your world. That becomes your reality and you suffer the stress of it. Life itself is very pleasurable. There is unfathomable joy in life. The simple tasks of walking, sleeping, eating, working, playing all flood you with endorphinsr
What is multiple identity disorder? The non-clinical version is when you show up with a different personality or set of values depending on who you’re with. You can know for sure if this applies to you by asking yourself this, “would people describe me differently depending on who I asked?”
The Kundalini is an energetic pathway in the body that runs from the base of your spine up along your spine, up the back of your head and out the top of your head. There are many energetic pathways in the body but there are two main energy pathways. One moves up the center of the front of the body and the Kundalini, which runs up the center of the back of the body.
'Free will is the greatest gift of God to man,' says Maharishi Mahesh Yogi in his commentary on the Bhagavad Gita (Bh.G. 1.39). 'Man has freedom of action; thereby he can adopt any channel, good or bad, through which he wants the course of his life to flow' (Bh.G. 2.27). We know that freedom is very fulfilling, we all want more and more freedom. Freedom equates with happiness, independence and sovereignty. And indeed, man seems to be more free than any other life form.
So on my family's property there is this pine tree. It is called a Puzzle-bark Pine, although I don't think that is the official scientific name. The name derives from the way the bark forms on the trunk of the tree. Over time, as the pine tree grows, the bark begins to look like a puzzle. There are lines outlining chunks of bark, so the tree literally looks like a puzzle that has been carefully put together. This tree is majestic. It towers so high that I can't see the top w
When we look at people who have made a name for themselves and have accumulated an abundance of wealth, we should ask ourselves... "What are they doing differently that makes them so rich?" Some people might say that they were born with certain talents. This may be true, but that's really just one small piece of the puzzle. In fact, decades of research on achievement suggests that successful people reach their goals not simply because of who they are, but more often because of what they do.
All of us as human beings have been taught “from the cradle on” about how the real world operates, and we are “told” that this reality exists independent from our own ideas of it. Would it surprise you if you learned that after your own death one day this was not true? What if there was “more to the story?” Would it change things for you if you learned that the life you had, was the one you created for yourself out of the ideas in your head?
If you’ve listened to my radio shows, you know there’s one thing I am always repeating: Use your five senses! Your five senses are like tentacles that connect you with everything and everyone outside of you. They are channels of information flowing in and out, which you can easily hone into, process and use again to express yourself better.
Change is a complex idea that can cause some to quiver just from the word alone. Resistance reinforces the fear that goes hand and hand with change. "The fear of the unknown" is a phrase well known by most and how true it is. The newness of any given situation can be enough to either scare a person beyond belief or provide one with the courage to strive full speed ahead.
As the world around us goes faster and faster, we loose sight of the simple pleasures in motion. Our inner child, that playful, silly one gets lost in the midst of âlifeâ. At some point we feel we need to grow up â be adults and act mature. The inner child in all of us gets placed on a shelf somewhere and is seen, but often forgotten. nnOur inner child a part of all of us, the creative self, the playful self, the indulgent self. Something challenging has come up between you and someone close to you and you're not sure what the most life-giving and healing approach is to such a situation. Life can be so darn complicated, at least sometimes, right? Who hasn't had this arise in their experience? Few, if any, of us, I am sure. It is easy to get caught up in our story about the issue and our story about the people involved in the issue.
We all have so much to offer. We are all born with sacred gifts and special qualities that are meant to be shared with the world. When we are young, these gifts flow easily and pour out of us. We sing, we dance, we play - we share our talents with anyone and everyone who will listen. And even if they won't - we don't let that stop us. We are simply living our purpose and sharing our gifts.
The act of worry is not anything to be taken lightly and is considered a major influence that enables a series of negative outcomes to become a reality. People tend to become out of tune with relationships, jobs, family and most importantly, themselves. Although it is human nature to be conce ed at times the immense emotion boundaries of worry mostly lingers within and around key circumstances in which one has no control.
Krishna explains in the Bhagavad-gita how the knowledge of the Absolute Truth is understood through the system of disciplic succession. This means that if we want to understand this knowledge, we must take it as it has come down perfectly to us over the ages through an unbroken line of spiritual masters beginning with Krishna Himself. To most people this principle will seem archaic and old fashioned because we live in the modern age of scientific advancement. But it should noted in this connection that science is still not perfect.
We should turn within, then, as have all of those great souls who have blessed the world with their presence; we should turn within and FIND GOD. It should seem natural to turn to the Great Power back of everything; it should seem normal to believe in this Power; and we should have a sense of a Real Presence when we do turn toward the One and Only Power in the entire Universe. This method is by far the most effective. It gives a sense of power that nothing else can, and, in
If you want to attain deep peace and spiritual wellness, follow these 4 easy steps. The first step in spiritual wellness is to address what you put into your body. Whatever food you eat becomes a part of your experience. And so if you are eating a lot of junk food then your body will be busy trying to get rid of all of the poisons that are in that food, including sugar, chemicals and unhealthy fats. And this leads to a feeling of imbalance and sickness.
Yes, no, maybe so! People call me psychic. They believe that I can tell the future. Edgar Cayce, one of America’s greatest, foretold plenty, as did Nostradamus, although his complex prose can be interpreted in many ways for events that have since come to pass – or not. Sometimes even I am skeptical about psychic gifts. Not all who claim to be psychic are, and even among the gifted, some are better skilled at recognizing, understanding and communicating the energy patterns they see.
"Separation is not your natural state. You are not separate from everything and trying to get to oneness. You are doing separation. You are actively separating yourself from this moment. And I am not saying not to have definitions, not to call a chair a chair. All of this happens. This duality happens in nonduality. It is not one or the other, it the same. But because you latch on to the definitions you do not see the essence of what is here. It is not wrong to do this, but if you want to be free of stress, of anxiety and conflict, it is important
Have you ever felt the need to create something truly wonderful? You get a great idea and are so excited, motivated, and can't wait to start. And sometimes you do just that and the magic happens. And other times you sit for a bit too long on the idea before taking action. Your mind kicks in and starts to wonder if it's really a good idea to create at this moment in your life. You think about how busy your life is and wonder if you should be adding yet another thing to your long to-do list.r
Vast emotions are a derivative from the voice of song that enables reflection of memories or an ideal moment even yet to occur. The empowerment felt from our favorite songs are the same ways life should be felt and celebrated each day, while never being taken for anything less.
Sometimes we want something so badly, and we work so hard to get it. We struggle and sweat and pour our entire beings into it until it happens, it's reality, and it's part of our world. And sometimes it's completely worth it, and it's exactly what we hoped it would be. If it's a job we fought hard to get - we saw ourselves in this position, and now that we are here we see that it's even better than we hoped it would be. If it's a relationship that we yearned for - we met that special someone and are living in happily ever after every day.r
As I worked diligently on my business before launching it, I began thinking about what differentiated me from the myriad of other women out there who are fulfilling their deepest desires of bringing forth the power of the Divine feminine into the world. What would be my distinguishing characteristics to draw customers to me instead of to another? What would be my competitive edge to bring to me the abundance that I desire? Do I need a competitive edge? The answer that reverberated inside was no!
Fear can provide the springboard to discover the vastness of who you are. Then, fear acts as catalyst for needed changes to deepen into your true self. An in-depth understanding of fear and a simple, transformational process is outlined to harness this hidden power of fear. After experiencing a profound shift in an exercise from a “Living from Your Soul” retreat, Jim shared what happened and then exclaimed, "Thank God for fear!" Why would anyone say this? No one likes to feel fear or be afraid.
I find that meditating every day in the shower works best for me. You need five to 10 minutes to yourself, where you can consciously cleanse and clear your mind and body. Doing this at the same time every day makes for a great meditation routine. Meditating is about clearing your mind, relaxing your body and initiating contact with your higher self and other dimensions.
I work with many people of various ages, backgrounds, belief systems and cultures. The one prominent common denominator in those who are able to make a shift into wellness is an understanding of personal responsibility. Individuals who can embrace and recognize their behavioral responsibilities in life to themselves and those around them are a step ahead in the awareness that can facilitate healing.
Have you ever pushed yourself way beyond your comfort zone and taken yourself to a place you never thought you could go? Have you ever felt so strongly about a path you were meant to be on that you took a huge leap of faith knowing that it would all work out? Have you ever listened to your intuition and went with your gut instead of your mind? Have you ever gone against what you knew in order to experience what you felt you truly needed in your life? Have you ever pushed fear out of the driver's seat and replaced it with faith and hope?
Your self-images may not be something you think about them very much. In fact, most of you probably don't even realize that you have many self-images, each one taking a turn depending on the circumstances you are in. The way you see yourself, or the way you think about yourself affects the actions and choices you make everyday. We are talking about your belief system. It is the answer to the question; who are you? Unfortunately, the misunderstanding of this concept produces consequences that are life-changing; often not for the better. A Rose By Any Other Name
Have you ever had a moment where you wanted to change in some way, but you didn't because it seemed too crazy, too out of the box, too "not you"? The labels we give ourselves are really powerful.
Yesterday, a marketing guru asked me a question that left me speechless. I had retained Bob to review the copy on my Mystic Warrior website from a sales perspective. He asked about reader reactions. As we talked, I told him how some readers felt compelled, while in the midst of my book, to put it down and meditate. In several cases, they described tingling sensations on the crown of their head and of receiving “downloads of energy and information.” I told Bob they were “attuning with God” and how this is a step towards enlightenment.
Know thyself. These words were inscribed in the vestibule of the Temple of Apollo at Delphi. For centuries, petitioners seeking advice from the oracle at Delphi would view the inscription. Philosophers throughout the ages offered this same advice to their students. These words are as valuable today as they were almost three thousand years earlier. Part of knowing yourself is understanding your beliefs. The difficulty is that most beliefs are subconscious. They have been accepted without ever having been critically examined.
Teenage years are full of shocks and mood swings, and it is likely that much of this is a natural process, caused by the troubled learning curve of adolescence. Half way between childhood and adulthood, a teenager can feel like there is no where in the world where they can fit in.
Gratitude is the best attitude. ~Author Unknownr If you want to turn your life around, try thankfulness. It will change your life mightily. ~Gerald Good There's a recession going on for any of those who have found themselves living in America for the past several years. Heck, everyone knows there's a recession going on in several countries in the world.
Quote: âTo walk your path, you must walk it alone. It is the home you own and where you belong." We travel on this journey called life with high hopes of making good choices. We must be willing to change the course of our paths at any time to find our true lifeâs purpose. Do not take your life for granted. You were born for a reason. Follow your heart and there you will find the key to your destiny. No more blame games or lame excuses why we cannot accomplish our goals. N
I was making my routine jaunt around the park near where I live and was observing the lush foliage that surrounded me. It made me ponder something…do others perceive the trees as I see them? Yes, our eyes have basically the same components that produce our vision: the retina, cornea, lens, iris and pupil. These components allow us to depict the greens of the leaves, the browns of the bark, the colors of the flowers…but on a different level…on an emotional level, do we perceive things the same way?
What is spirituality? This is a koan in itself because spirituality is beyond the intellect. So anything that can be said in words about what is spirituality is going to miss it. Still, we can point to what is spirituality. And spirituality is this very moment. You do not need to leave this moment to find spirituality, because if you do this, you will miss it. To realize what is spirituality, notice what is here beyond your thinking. Do not allow thinking to define for you what is here in this moment, rather notice what is here beyond thinking.
The other day I bought an unusual piece of software: It runs positive affirmations on my computer, so they can influence me while I work. Sentences like “I am full of confidence” or “I love everyone I meet”. The kind that is supposed to help me so that I stop being negative. I liked the idea, but much to my surprise, it didn’t feel completely right. I just couldn’t understand why. After all, I was doing the right thing… I was, wasn’t I? I mean, I tried to ignore the not-so-positive thoughts I’m capable of, and I was reinforcing the good ones instead of. That’s good, isn’t it?
Have you ever wanted to be there – wherever that was? The only requirement for there is that it is far from here. There is a place where things just seem to work out. A place you have long dreamed of going to. A place where the puzzle pieces of your life somehow fit together. There is a place where faith rules over fear. A place where positivity and gratitude are far more powerful than negativity and anxiety. There is a place where everything is in abundance – love, money, time, self worth, laughter, joy. You always have more than enough.
In order to find out what your true calling is - what life path you are meant to be on, you can tune in to your inner voice. You can sit still, breathe, and listen to what your wisdom deep inside wants you to know. Another way to find this out is by gaining clarity through contrast. Have you ever done something that seemed so far away from what you knew deep inside you were meant to do? Many people feel this way about their jobs. They realize exactly what they want in a new job by recognizing what they don't want in their current job.r
Forgiveness is the most misunderstood and difficult “act” for so many people because forgiveness “creates” change and most would rather “suffer in quiet desperation” than find the courage to face the “unknown” and experience change.

There is something very empowering about realizing that we control our own life. When we recognize that our thoughts become our reality, we also recognize that we have the power to create the exact life that we want. This can be a wonderful feeling - and it can also be a scary feeling.
One reason why rituals have been connected and used by religions throughout history is because of their effectiveness at focusing power. Taking a predetermined set of steps and using the same instruments each time the ritual is performed streamlines the energy and allows the participants to fit into a groove. This groove acts like a channel for the energy to flow in, making the most of the time and effort put into the ritual. Each time the ritual is performed, it’s effects become stronger. It’s basically the same premise as practice.
Albert Einstein, Strictly Scientist or Simply Intelligent Intuitive? "Imagination is more important than knowledge." Is one quote that gives you some insight into the mind of Albert Einstein.
“In the dark silent womb of the earth, frost warms to water, micro-organisms stir, the rhythms of life awaken in the heart of the seed, after a a long sleeping death in the cold hard ground ,the flower-to-be comes alive in the bright green shoot with-in the shell. Above the ground no one can see the momentous rebirth taking place or hear the whisper of new life.” The Lunar Cycle Report, Phillip Levine M.A. The Faintest of Lights begins in Darkness
It feels so good to know that we are appreciated. It is a wonderful feeling to learn that our actions have inspired someone. And while we all are constantly inspired by others and admire the amazing work that our mentors are doing, how often do we stop and let them know how much they mean to us? How often do we thank them for making our world so much brighter with their actions, words, art, and love? How often do we tell them how much their inspiration has impacted our own lives in such a positive way?
Who defines you? What do you say when asked, “what do you do?” Do you ever feel like just a mom, just a daughter, a girlfriend, a husband? The wacky aunt, maybe? I ask you this because we have almost reached winter. Winter is typically the time of introspection for the year, but of course, this winter is even more special. We are a few weeks away from the most special solstice of our lifetimes. And by the way, I’m sure that all of you know we are not in danger of materializing or anything like that. We’ll wake up just fine on December 22nd.
"For every complex problem there is answer that is clear, simple and wrong." H.L. Mencken "Your mind will answer most questions if you learn to relax and wait for the answer." William S. Burroughs Questions and answers. We spend so much time caught up trying to find answers to questions. Every time a question comes up that requires an answer we put ourselves through a huge series of mental gymnastics.
What an incredible time of year! When I first started writing this article the trees were ablaze with vibrant reds, golds and oranges. Now they are mostly bare but still beautiful in silhouette against the tangerine and blue early morning sky.The air is crisp, clear and clean. There is an energy that flows through everything in preparation for the long winter slumber. There is a beauty that this time of year offers that is like no other as Mother Nature makes yet another seasonal transition. Allow this beauty into your heart, embrace it, feel it and most importantly enjoy it.
I’m not the one earning your salary and I’m not the one spending your money – you are! So start by asking yourself: Do I currently have the income I desire and if not, how can I change that? As you resolve that, pay more attention to what an how you spend and see if you can make a difference there too.
Have you noticed that some people struggle through life while others seem to effortlessly advance. Have you noticed or wondered why some have to work very hard for little; while others seem to achieve so much with seemingly little effort. I am not talking about people who lie or cheat or get things, but good people who seem happy and relaxed while achieving mush with no to little struggle on their part. We see it many times in great athletes. They soar through the air, hit a golf ball, or move beautifully with almost no effort, no forced struggle.
Do you ever wake up from a dream that felt so vivid, so real, and so powerful? Do you ever feel like it was trying to tell you something - a message from your soul? Have you ever experienced a dream that turned out to be a premonition? There are all kinds of dreams - some are merely a processing of the previous day's events - strewn together in a fun way that only our subconscious can do. And some are more meaningful - these are the ones that you can't seem to shake from your mind when you wake up. They are so vivid and keep coming back to you throughout the day.
Excerpt from the book 'The Visible & Invisible Worlds of God': The physical worlds, planetary systems and universes are connected through energetic and electro-magnetic lines and grids which overlap in such a way as to unite homogeneously. They all converge at one Source, the original Universal Creator-Source from which all Life springs. No world can be sustained outside these energetic fields or without the rhythmic breath and pulse of this Creator-Source.
Let's schedule an entire day where we pamper ourselves and do exactly what we want. Let's spend the day replenishing our energy and nourishing our soul. Let's declare it to our loved ones. Let's let them know ahead of time that this is our day. On this day, let's wake up when we want, eat what we want, and do exactly what we want. Let's get creative in what this means for us - let's talk about the specifics. Let's spend some time planning it out. Write down when you want this day to take place.r
"People want to be in their own fashion tribes, so they want to wear the same clothes to be connected to everyone else in that tribe. But they want to be different from other tribes." Christian Lacroix
Sometimes in life we have to make tough choices if we want to grow and live the life we know we are meant to live. We may have to give up a part of ourselves that we have grown comfortable with, even if we know that it isn't the self we want to bring on our journey.
Who do you allow into your inner circle? A few weeks ago, I wrote a post about our happiness levels being the average of how happy our top few friends were. This is so interesting to me, and it really brought home the fact that we are all so sensitive to the energy around us. (You can read more about this here.) Because we are like sponges and tend to take on other people's moods and emotions, I think it's a good idea to be careful about who we let into our inner circle.
Hypnosis has been around for at least as long as we humans have kept records. Hypnosis is a natural human ability. Every time we focus our attention we enter a kind of hypnotic trance. Our normal awareness involves us being aware of many things at the same time and our mind jumping around. So the defining characteristic of the hypnotic state is a single, or limited focus of attention.
This idea of “Why Don’t We Ask Questions” came as a result of conversations with several colleagues who write and speak on topics similar to mine. Most of us who write blogs are always looking for topics that are relevant to the audience for whom we write but also thought provoking and life changing. You have probably noticed that many blog writers ask somewhere in their blog for topics or questions they can be research, answer and present as a new post. However, what we find is that people are not willing, or at least most are not willing, to ask a question or suggest a topic.
"For the purpose of meditation, you can break it down to two states. The first state is identification with thinking. You believe you are the thinker of your thoughts and the subject of your thinking. You experience this moment through the interpretation of the mind. The second state is that which precedes the first. It is what is here behind the thinking. You feel yourself existing not as a person but as sensation. Resting as consciousness itself, resting as pure being. You can approach meditation by recognizing these two states.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with wanting to do your best. But what happens when wanting to do your best keeps you from living your best life?r
Life doesn’t control you. What you believe about it, does. – Alan Cohen Have you ever noticed how babies are fully engaged in whatever is happening around them? They’re like this fluid energy that is connected and interrelating with everything. They are experiencing life. This is what it means to be in your heart, fully engaged with how you feel, in oneness with all that is. They haven’t learnt to separate themselves from their experience by viewing life through the lens of a self-made belief structure. Experiences happen and pass through their awareness.
The inspiration for my blogging comes from many different sources, however the one I most frequently rely on is personal experiences. Recently I was told that my “happiness meter” was being adjusted upward. In other words, my most frequent state of being was being adjusted to reflect a much greater allowing and experiencing of joy in my life. It is from this enhanced level of joy that I would be more capable of creating and experiencing what I most desire in life. I have been sharing the concept of all humans having a default setting for quite some time, but a happiness meter, really?
The new age/self help industry is often about building yourself up. Making yourself more special more successful, more liked, more confident. And there is nothing wrong with this. This brings you to a certain level of happiness. But enlightenment is the opposite. Spiritual enlightenment is about allowing the facade to fall apart, to allow yourself to be exactly as you are and to surrender into that. When you allow the idea of who you think you are to crumble, when you stop trying to make yourself different than you are, then all that is left in this moment is consciousness.
Living from the presence of God within means to have come to the realization of Spirit and trust it, and rely on in more than you have previously relied on the world to take care of you, provide you with jobs, shelter and clothing. When you no longer think that you have to join the flock who think they are born and later die in and in between you should go to school, get a job, get married, have children, car, dog and a house, travel sometimes, get retired later, save money and hope for the best.
In spite of all the economic woes the world is dealing with right now, there is still the basic truth that we could all find justifiable joy within our own lives, if we so chose. There is much joy in life which can be considered justifiable. Yet, joy, in its very essence, has absolutely no need to be justified. Joy is an innate contentment, in spite of circumstance, happenings, or events that swirl around our lives on a daily basis.
"If you observe your experience in this moment, then you are not controlling this moment in any way, you are not involved with itrnin any way. From witnessing, there is the flow of energy that is happening, that is arising by itself, that is creating the movement of all phenomena in this moment. The thoughts arise in this flow of energy, the sensations arise and change in this flow of energy, it is all the flow of one energy, arising out of consciousness and dissolving back into consciousness. The energy takes the shape of certain thoughtsr
Okay guys, put down the beer can, shut off the TV and pay attention; THIS COULD SAVE YOUR LIFE! Your wife/girfriend has made some sort of comment that led you to believe that Valentine's day was no big deal. You took her at her word, because after all, you have an honest relationship, right? (CUE THE BUZZER) WRONG!!!!!
"In outward seeking and desiring you are always chasing what is seemingly ahead of this moment. You are always looking to be satisfied in the future. So the very experience of outward seeking will always be discontentment. It cannot be any other way because satisfaction is always just ahead of you, just in front of you. Like the man on the donkey cart holding the carrot just in front of donkey so it keeps walking, no matter how much the donkey walks the carrot is always just out of reach. So in desire, there is that constant resistance to being here;r
It is wonderful to surround yourself with loving friends and family who cheer you on and support you in everything you do. I feel blessed that I have a great support system. I have a wonderful husband who loves me and boosts me up no matter what I do. I have a loving mom who has always been there for me and allowed me to always be myself. And I also have supportive friends who love me and honor me. Their love means the world to me. And it's easy to sometimes rely on their support rather than look within and be my own cheerleader.
"You grow in awareness by becoming conscious of what is unconscious in mindfulness meditation. You have been meditating for years thinking your mind is still in meditation, and then suddenly you see you have been lost in your thinking the whole time without even knowing it. Because of our conditioning, the tendency is to feel down about yourself, to feel like this realization that you have been unconscious for so long means you have failed.
"Freed from the shell, the sprouting plant decides it's future by sinking it's moisture-seeking rootlets down into the earth. Spreading them out, it stakes out it's territory and wholeheartedly climbs toward the air and the sky, affirming, “Here I will Be.” The Lunar Cycles ~ Philip Levine At the New Moon a conception occurred ~ at the Crescent the new life quickened in the womb and IF we are successful in overcoming our self-doubt we commit to gathering information and resources as we plan for the action of the First Quarter phase ~ where we announce the upcoming birth to others.
EFT, or Emotional Freedom Technique, is a healing method or a healing tool that combines modern psychology with Chinese acupuncture. It is used to decrease, even eliminate, emotional stress and is also very successful for eliminating limited beliefs or fears that block us from moving into abundance and into the life we truly want to live. It is also used in some cases involving physical pains or discomforts.
First of all, obesity is a problem all over the world, including in France. I remember in high school eating doughnuts every day – fresh, still warm – my favorites were the ones with cream inside! Yum. So good! But I also walked two miles to school every day! I went dancing every Friday, played sports and participated in 60 km, midnight hikes every year. Fresh out of college, I ate pasta most nights and I was lucky if I could add some cheese to it. Fresh organic fruits and vegetables are ridiculously expensive in Paris. I preferred keeping my money for trips around Europe.
What if we were to tell you that there is one thing that has the ability to give you everything you have ever wanted? Not only that but what if we were to say that this âthingâ is very easy to access? Want to know what it is? Read on. All of lifeâs complexities tend to seem so major when we focus on them; such as what we havenât got, what we need more of and how we need to change. In reality, many of our worries arenât real, even though we create such a huge deal ab
One of my favorite times of the day is when I sit down to write my blog post. I have some breakfast and sit in front of my computer until a topic comes to me. And then I write. And sometimes it goes smoothly and effortlessly.
There is an experience called the Kundalini that occurs when you reach a higher level of spiritual discipline, although, sometimes it occurs spontaneously. It’s an awakening of the energy that lies at the base of the spine and means snake in Sanskrit. Those that experience this awakening find ...
Do you ever think about what were you like as a child? What did you like to do for fun? Did you like playing indoors or outdoors? Did you have a lot of friends or just a few close friends? What did you spend your time thinking about? What did you want to be when you were all grown up? Sometimes the responsibilities of being an adult can lead us away from our path - we take the safe, secure road, which isn't always our true calling.
Have you ever embarked on a wonderful new adventure that you were super excited about, and just when you really started to get into it with both feet in - fear stepped up and started listing all of the reasons why it's probably not a good idea for you to do this after all and tries to get you to see how much safer it would be for you to just step back into your comfort zone? When this happens, what if we took some time to listen to what fear has to say? It's there to protect you - it doesn't want you to get hurt or fail or be disappointed.
What you deserve and what you think you deserve sometimes have completely different answers. It all comes down to our thoughts, our beliefs about ourselves, and our self worth. To give an example - imagine you are looking for a life partner. All you have ever wanted in life is to find someone who loves you for you - who appreciates you - who cares about you - and who would give anything to be with you. You know you deserve this. And yet...the partners you actually end up with are afraid of commitment, treat you horribly, don't appreciate you, and don't care about you.
For those of you who aren’t yet familiar with what it means to hold onto other people’s energy, here’s a quick explanation: Empaths have a very thin aura, resulting in a tendency to absorb other people’s mental, emotional, physical and spiritual energies whenever they are exposed to it. For example, you may find yourself running a conversation in your head well after its taken place. This is mental energy you’ve taken in. Feeling upset in response to a friend’s upset is an example of taking in emotional energy.
There are more self-help tools available today than ever before. Often times you can become confused and overwhelmed by all the "help" that is so readily offered. One of the best tools I have found to help you stay positive, focused, and keep your manifesting vibration high is the use of effective questions. Effective questions are questions you ask yourself that are designed to engage the creative, proactive, curious part of your mind and being. Effective questions set your
Dear Keith and Maura, I just found your website and podcasts yesterday and they totally resonate with me. I am a very active youthful 55. I was widowed suddenly at 32 with 2 babies. My soulmate died and I was lost and devastated. I banged around for 10 years raising my boys, working and trying to find a similar loving relationship as I had. I met losers, liars, cheaters, alcoholics, and abusers.
You’ve probably come across stories of children relating past-life events or memories to stunned adults. Some have been documented and are quite amazing. No doubt we have had past lives – states of consciousness in other states of being or form.
Before taking some much needed time off for the Labor Day holiday, we submitted our last blog post (Would You Rather Be Right Or Happy?) and, as usual, we were almost immediately provided with an opportunity to practice what we preach. The other day, while running an errand, we decided to stop ...
Finding Forgiveness for Your Sake “To forgive is to give forth. It releases you from the past.” - “Positively Positive” on Twitterr Forgiveness comes in many forms but the most important aspect to remember is that it's for the one who was offended or victimized. The offender or perpetrator may never even hear or know that he or she has been forgiven, therefore, it has to be for the one who was harmed.r
"In meditation, one of the greatest things you can dornis become aware of how thought identification happens. Become aware of the process of thoughts arising and the action ofrnbeing attached to identifying with those thoughts. There is a feeling of contraction behind it, a feeling of stress. A feeling of constantly holding on to something that is flying all over the place. And if you can recognize that attachmentrnthen you can begin to let go of it. You can begin tornrest in non attachment where thoughts are never even given the power to fully becomer
The approximate “age” of a soul is oftentimes indicated by the very nature of the questions asked in the life. For example, when one asks of themselves “What is the purpose of my life, and why am I here? “ Well, rest assured we are considering an older soul here, rather than a younger one. The purpose of this article is to challenge its readers to expand their physical and non-physical minds beyond currently held ideas.
Since childhood I have had the memory (or "a vision of the future", if that's easier to understand) of people living in relatively small intentional communities. I say small relative to the large cities which have become increasingly the normal way of life in the past few hundred years. We might be looking at anything from a few hundred people through to perhaps 50,000 people.
Energy healing and its Holistic approach have been around since mankind has been on this earth. Different modalities have been used whether it was a physical approach or mental. The mental approach had emerged during the tribal period of mankind’s evolution. History has shown that all groups of people have had a shaman/woman or medicine man/ woman in all their civilizations. Although the name or title may have been different from people to people their function has been the same, healing.r
I was playing Pictionary the other night with my husband and picked the word, incubate. I drew test tubes, a beaker, and a thermometer to show the heat. While weren't able to guess it before the time ran out, it did get us thinking about the other meanings of the word. The meaning that stuck with me and is still here days later is, to develop, grow, take form. I love thinking about this definition in terms of a plan, goal, or idea. There is something very satisfying to me about sitting on it for awhile rather than immediately acting on it.
Ask any human being if they could have more in their life, and they would most often answer “yes.” The real question then becomes, what does “more” mean? To many, it means having more money, and more freedom with their time. In short, most everyone desires to have a life of more possibility in terms of “success.” The ways in which that time, money, and energy would be spent reflect the “true passions” of the individuals living that life.
I woke up this morning thinking about the many unfinished projects I needed to do, emails I wanted to send, and the seemingly endless pile of papers that needed to be filed. Not always the best way to wake up. I immediately felt tired and overwhelmed. But then I remembered a wonderful cd that I listened to several years ago that talked about how we store energy in our bodies. It was called Energy Anatomy by Caroline Myss.
The word Chakra stems from the word Cakra, which is a Sanskrit word meaning wheel. The seven main Chakras, according to Hindu traditions, are energy fields that are aligned with the spine, from the bottom or base of the spine to the top of the head. Each chakra is associated with a certain color ...
A member of the Self Improvement Zone asked me the other day: "How is it that we can know what is good for us, yet we don'tseem to be able to make a practice out of anything?I go from one author, book, concept, idea to another, thinkingone day I will find the answer, and I will no longer have tolook. I have enough books to open a bookstore. Is there any one thing you can recommend? Or are we mostly alldoing the same thing?? Searching... with no one right answer."
Heart Value In Relationship Since we are all interconnected through our many types of relationships, this is an article that can be beneficial to anyone. As we come to realize that its necessary to value all our relationships as an integral means to our Spiritual Growth, then they offer us an amazing space to shed light on the many intricate aspects of our lives. They do so by providing us with opportunities, interactions, conflict and choices. In our relationships we have mu
Thoughts I remember I used to attract into my life all sorts of things when I was younger, but I had no idea that it was by the law of attraction, I did think about the power of thought, and I had an inner knowing already as a child that we are as vast as the universe itself. I just didn’t know that the laws of the universe could be used deliberately. For example I remember that I could think of needing new shoes and the next day someone gave me new shoes. I thought, “That’s strange, I just thought of shoes the other day and now I’m given them.”
I really think that self care is the key component to a happy life, and so I thought it would be fun to see what everyone's definition of self care was. We are all so unique and we all live varied lives. And this means that our definitions will all be different. If you are a new mom, self care might mean taking a nap while your baby sleeps. If you are a busy mom with older children, self care might mean practicing deep breathing while waiting in the car pool lane. If you are a business owner, self care might mean delegating tasks so that you can ease your own workload.
This body is the church, it is the temple, it is the sanctuary, the mosque, the hallelujah, the salaam, the Hare Krishna, the great ‘I am’ resides in this body, and therefore I submit to the holiness that resides within it. Who but the arrogant blasphemes the great I am that resides in this holy church, this holy body? Who but the ignorant tries to enter its gates without the cleanliness of the most high? Neither can a man be with this greatness without experiencing its greatness indeed.
Have you ever received a compliment and gotten flustered because you weren't sure how to respond? Your mind starts whirling with questions: Did you deserve such a nice compliment? Would you seem too full of yourself if you agreed? Should you simply look away and say a quick thank you and then change the subject?r
"If you close your eyes and stop thinking even for a second you will discover all that is here is impersonal attention. So a good meditation technique is to keep your focus on this impersonal attention. Which is really saying turn your attention back upon itself until you are clear enough about attention to simply rest as impersonal attention. If thoughts come, you simply keep your focus on this impersonal attention that is the back drop to all thinking. You never allow your attention to latch on to the thoughts and leave this moment,r
This is a really important (and sometimes really hard) question to answer. In an ideal world, we are living for ourselves and only doing things that make us feel great and are on our authentic path. But...it doesn't always work this way. It's normal to want to please others. It's normal to want to be liked. But ask yourself at what expense are you willing to sacrifice your own wants and desires to fit in. Think of how you live and the decisions you have made and continue to make. Are you making them based on what you think people will want or expect you to do?
This seemingly innocuous question from our Jou aling Further Within book can really bring up all sorts of outdated beliefs and issues of self worth if you dig deep enough. I think most of us believe that we are worth the necessities of life – food, shelter, love, etc. But if we go beyond this, our self doubt tends to kick in, and we start wondering what we are truly worth after all. A great example of feeling worth it is with regard to self care.r
Opinions of others or self; Which matters more to you ? Self or Wealth; Which is more precious ? He who is attached to things will suffer much. He who holds on will experience heavy losses. A contented person is never disappointed. He who knows when to stop will stay forever safe. In this verse of the Tao Tee Ching, the 2,500 year old book of oriental wisdom you are being asked to consider how you look at life. Are you reacting to the outer things of life like wealth, fame or what people think of you ? Or are we satisfied with h
An important side effect of yoga training is the development of psychic abilities. The term development is appropriate, as everyone has these abilities. Every culture has had healers, shamans and mystics. Some people seem to be born with this ability but most honed the skill through training with an elder. The cultures vary but the results of that training do not. Psychic powers are available to everyone. Just like playing the piano, some people tend to have a gift for it, show amazing abilities at an early age and are savants in music. Others follow the natural course of piano lessons.
What Contract Have You Made With Yourself? We all go through our lives signing many contracts of agreement; yet I wonder if youâve considered putting your signature on the most important one of all? That is, of course the One With Yourself! This is the soul agreement that you make in order to live up to your own evolving expectations, desires, commitments and standards. We start out as children with our own Soul Contracts; however, oftentimes as children grow into adulthood
Are you so worried about stage fright that you refrain from speaking in public? Is your desire to do public speaking shackled by the idea that you have to overcome your fears first? Consider this. Sir Laurence Olivier, one of the great thespians of his time had terrible stage fright before his performances, yet he had a long and highly distinguished and successful career.
Life is busy - that's just the way it is. We all have so many things to do - so much to keep track of on a daily basis. Many of us tend to be overscheduled, overworked, and overexhausted. We're just trying to make it all work - make sure we keep up with everything - make sure things don't unravel. In a perfect world, there would be a 25th hour every day just so we could rest, take care of ourselves, rejuvenate, relax, and unwind. But that's not obviously not going to happen.
"Your involvement with thinking takes you out of this moment. A thought arises, you grab hold of itrnand you are involved with that thought, you have no experience of this present moment. So if you surrender every thought that arises back into this moment then you will begin tornfeel this moment directly. You will feel the subtle sensations, of existing in this moment. You will begin to fall back into what is here unconditionally, what is here prior to all thought. Blessings, Kip"
Your imagination is your preview of life's coming attractions. - Einstein This is one of my favorite quotes because it's so true. We all have active imaginations, and we are all thinking a million thoughts each day - many of which we aren't even aware of. Have you ever had someone ask you what you were thinking and realized that it was hard to put it into words because either 1.) you were thinking many different things at the same time or 2) you are so used to being on auto pilot that you had absolutely no idea.
While it's great to spend most of our time in the present moment and truly be mindful of what's happening right now, it's also fun to have something to look forward to - something on the horizon that we are excited about - something we can think about and dream about and make plans to realize. Spend some time today thinking about what is on your horizon. Do you have a new project that you are excited to start? Do you have a much-needed vacation coming up? Do you have personal goals that you are about to reach?
Imagine for a moment that Earth is a schoolroom and that we are all pupils in it. And imagine that before you were born, your soul mapped out what your journey on Earth would look like. You mapped out what you would like to learn during your time here. You chose what your purpose here would be. I believe that we each have a unique purpose. We all have the ability to inspire others with our unique gifts and individual experiences. Some are amazing teachers who were born to inspire and lead through their actions.
Ask Astrid: How Does Energy Work Yesterday, I had on Steven D Kelley as a guest to the first of a new season of Guests on the Brilliant Essence radio. He comes from an engineering background. Like my Dad, in fact!r
Yes, I took liberty with the word wise and wrote why’s, however you will see that the wise always seek the why. We all know the scenario when a child, perhaps our own, asks why after why after why until we get to the point of just saying, because I said so or because that is just the way it is. It can be annoying for sure, however it does reveal a few aspects of our Self that if given the proper attention could serve us well.
A franchise is often described as a business in a box. Meaning that all a franchisee needs to be successful within a given industry is provided by the franchisor in the form of systems, tools and support. Admittedly, not every franchisee or franchisor is successful but the concept is a sound one that works well when structured and administered properly. The key to success for the franchisee lies in accepting and implementing the systems while applying their own personal brand or personality.
Do near death experiences awaken the mind? Some people witness those in the waiting room, viewing from above the room they almost die in and seeing people from their past that went before them. Others have near death experiences that involve light and a loving beautiful feeling surrounding them. Some near death experiences are not so pleasant. They include demons, horrible visions and a painful experience. Everyone that has a near death experience, however, has one thing in common. It changes his or her life. Several of the near death experiences actually cured the victims.
Living a life without self-confidence or good self-esteem is one common way that others allow fear to “rule the show” in their lives. Fear is a concept, which indeed means many different things to many different people. However, most often the individual gives little thought (if any) to whether or not fear may be at work distorting perceptions from within the psychological and emotional being.
How important is religion or spirituality in a changing world? No matter whether we are talking about job, career, schooling, family, loved ones, friends, spouse, or what-have-you, how important is religion or spirituality in one’s life? Try it this way. Can you imagine being at the end of your own very long life on your deathbed; are you ready to walk your path alone to the other side? Do you have any “unfinished business or regrets?” Perhaps the answer to this may help put the opening question into a more clear perspective.
"You do not need to get rid of resistance. You do not need to get rid of negativity, or insecurity. You do not need to get rid of thinking or anything at all. The simple act of observing what is here, of consciously accepting and watching your experience in this moment is all that is needed. Just by observing your experience in this moment you transcend it. You transcend the duality of good and bad, right and wrong and enter into the essence of this moment that has no opposite. You enter into peace that has no opposite, silence that has no opposite,r
I recently attended a business conference for a company with which I have been affiliated for just over a year. During the conference I was called onto the stage with several other folks to be recognized for the success we had created and enjoyed during the course of the year. The founder of the company in making a few comments about the group on stage said he would like to hear some inspiring thoughts from a few of us for the benefit of all in attendance.
