Justifiable Joy
Written by Lene StJohn
In spite of all the economic woes the world is dealing with right now, there is still the basic truth that we could all find justifiable joy within our own lives, if we so chose.
There is much joy in life which can be considered justifiable. Yet, joy, in its very essence, has absolutely no need to be justified. Joy is an innate contentment, in spite of circumstance, happenings, or events that swirl around our lives on a daily basis.
So many people confuse happiness with joy. They think that they will be “happy” when this person does that, or this job comes through, or when they get married, or whatever it may be. So many people don’t realize that happiness is conditional and temporary, because once the newness of the event or position wears off, the happiness dims as well.
Joy stays with us through all events because, deep down, we realize that our attitude and our perspective is what lasts through all kinds of situations. If we don’t ever see that person do whatever it is we wanted them to do, or we don’t get that job, or we don’t get married, etc., when we seek to continue in the way of joy, we find that life becomes much more peaceful and much easier to accept. Joy is to events what unconditional love is to people – it sees the good in all things and accepts what is, not what we think could be or should be. Please remember “Life Lesson #1278 – “don’t ever should all over yourself or anyone else!”
The most amazing truth of all is that, in all honesty, nothing has any meaning at all, except what we give it - because, in reality, most of everything in life is subjective. Every person, event, circumstance, etc. has a different meaning to whoever views it, lives it, or ponders it. A perfect example is when two people see a car accident and each has to give their story to the police about what they saw. By the time both sides are told, it may sound as if there were two different accidents viewed at the same time. That’s the effect of subjectivity.
So, after all this is said, the ultimate bottom line is that we truly can and could find joy in everyday that we live. Each person, on their own journey, within their own perspective, has the choice to experience lasting joy or temporary happiness. One is calm, steady, and peaceful. The other is fleeting, turbulent, and totally the opposite of Who We Really Are and What We Were Meant to Express and Experience while we finish this path back to our original beginning.
