A motivational speaker could be anybody! A graduate of a university with several MBAs, a world traveler, a celebrity or a navy seal. What truly makes a motivational speaker a motivational speaker is their willingness and ability to motivate and help others.
So what do these people do when they are in front of 800 people with a microphone and a projector? They inspire through rich stories of success, failure and triumph. They use a proven methodology that is successful in shedding a more positive light on the situation at hand. By doing this they uplift the spirits of each audience member.
The best motivational speakers lecture, coupled with audience interaction, the use of video and PowerPoint. They engage, carry themselves well and talk to the group but reach each individual in one way or another.
When an employee or colleague becomes bored, can’t carry on or wants to give up. A pep talk can help boost moral of the individuals who really need it. When a group of individuals becomes enthused and encouraged, the entire team or group can increase productivity and happiness. Keeping yourself motivated after such a great inspirational presentation can be easier.
Finally, they leave the audience with something like a list of tasks, goals, a competition or a physical book/CD. Leaving something for the audience to remember your presentation is key to helping keep the audiences mind fresh and on track toward their goal.
Leaving the seminar, the audience should feel good about life and about themselves. They should have a new, more positive outlook on at least one aspect of work, life or a specific activity.
Hiring a motivational speaker is a big decision. Do you want to spend thousands of dollars on a speaker who will motivate your team? How do you choose the right person for your engagement? Some great motivational speakers are Donald Trump, Richard Branson and Doug Dvorak
Do some great research on the Internet and make some calls to those individual speakers. Ask them if they wouldn’t mind speaking with you about their programs and offerings and your upcoming event. Get some information sent over and sift through what you like and what you don’t like. Finally when you have a list of 2 or 3 speakers, make that final call to determine which one really fits the bill.
This should help any event coordinator or manager to make any event a success. Don’t worry; be happy! Keep on Keeping on! ☺
