Are you a teenager who has the need and desire to acquire useful hobbies and skills you can use to live a better life? Are you the parent of a teenager who does not play a musical instrument or take any musical classes? I can tell you that a musical education is an invaluable tool and asset to possess; however, it is especially necessary for teenagers to learn how to play at least one musical instrument and engage in an education that includes music. You will learn numerous ways teenagers benefit from possessing a musical education.

Acquiring your own musical instrument and starting the process of learning to play an instrument is priceless and can bring pride and pleasant lifetime memories. On my sixth birthday, I received a set of pretty blue drums. I loved it and played it for some time. Several years later, I picked up the desire to learn how to play the piano; consequently, I took weekly piano lessons and our family bought a piano. I am still playing that piano.

Teenagers benefit from including music in their high school curriculum. High schools often require students to take some fine arts classes. Piano Lab, a course I took as a freshman, sophomore and junior, qualifies as a fine arts class. Secondly, taking a music class provides you a grand opportunity to earn an excellent grade, especially if you follow your music teacher’s advice and instructions thoroughly and practice singing or playing your instrument enough. I always earned an A or a B in my piano classes.

Incorporating music into the educational curriculum is important for teenagers to gain support. If you are a teenager who plays an instrument or sings, you will undoubtedly pick up encouragement and reinforcement from your friends and family.

As a teenager taking a music class, you will benefit from occasionally performing a public recital to meet your class requirements. Your family and friends will come together, see you in person and be entertained. Also, you will learn how to deal with audience pressure and avoid experiencing stage fright. Remind yourself how good you are and realize the audience members are people who support you and want you to succeed. If you make a mistake while singing or playing your instrument, brush it off and keep going.

Teenagers must include music in their education for mental benefits. Learning a musical skill can develop your cognitive skills and make you feel better emotionally; furthermore, listening to music can help heal brain injuries.

Teenagers should have a musical education to gain a shot at earning good money. If you can sing or play a musical instrument at a very high level, you will acquire a highly marketable skill and hopefully earn a lot of money.

You have learned the benefits teens can experience from having a musical education.
