Yoga and Magnetic Therapy
By Peter Rose FSI
Our modern world is full of stresses that did not exist for previous generations. This statement could have been written in any period, from the industrial revolution (about1800 ) onwards. That does not make it any the less true. The sheer frustration of being an individual trying to deal with global corporate bodies, to government bureaucrats who have assumed control over our every day living, without our consent; through to computers that are so clever and so dumb at the same time. In a life where everything moves so fast yet nothing ever seems to get done, we all have stresses our grandparents never knew. I would like to suggest that we all turn to two of the oldest forms of self help, Yoga and Magnetism.
Yoga asanas (exercises-postures) mostly come from Hatha Yoga which is more conce
ed with the physical aspects of human life. Raja Yoga is more conce
ed with meditation and the asanas are held for longer during which a meditative state of mind is reached. Personally I prefer to separate my mediation from a sequence of dynamic yoga; where I do not try to hold any pose just to flow from one asana to another. I find it preferable, for myself, to meditate, and then do my dynamic yoga then some straight forward physical exercises such as press ups and sit ups. Since I am officially a retired senior citize
I have the time to grant myself half hour every morning to complete my routine.
All of us experience pain, discomfort and reduced good quality of health, from time to time and this is where Magnetic Therapy comes in. Yoga asanas are nearly all developed to stretch one or more of the meridians (pathways of internal energy) as used in Acupuncture, acupressure and Shiatsu; magnetic therapy can also use these pathways of energy. Placing small adhesive spot magnets on acupuncture points acts like a slow release acupuncture. Magnetic Therapy can also provide improved flow of blood, nutrients etc to a damaged site and, of equal importance, the removal of discarded cells. This improved blood flow can be achieved by use of support wraps that have magnetic strips implanted in them. These wraps have the added advantage of giving physical exterior support while boosting the inner workings of the body.
Yoga helps us keep the meridians open and our internal energy, life force, free flowing while Magnetic therapy assists when we need more than maintenance. Use both and at least the physical pains of modern life will be reduced.
I am not suggesting miracle cures here, Yoga is more preventative and Magnetic therapy is good at speeding things up but neither will cure cancer when it has taken root in the body. If you break a leg then you need physical repair, magnets can speed up this repair but no amount of time spent in a shoulder stand is going to let you play football within a week of the fracture.
Most of the aches and pains that cause us physical grief, in day to day life, come from less dramatic events than fractures or cancer. We turn our body when tense and over stretch a ligament; we physically rush about when mentally angry or confused and this leads to digestive problems. We run to catch a bus or try to run up stairs because we are late and we jar our knees and ankles. These are the areas where yoga could prevent damage and Magnetic Therapy can speed up recovery.
Our backs are the most common area of pain, we slump in front of a television since we are too tired to do anything else, this posture pushes too much load on to the lower back and weights it in a direction it is not designed to take. We sit in our cars and get mentally stressed by delays, the mental stress gets relayed through the body tensing up the muscular structure in the upper back and we have a head ache. If you do the simple exercise of cat and dog, forward drop and the cobra every morning you will have less chance of suffering back ache. If you do get back ache then use a magnetic support belt to speed up your recovery. Any good book shop will have several books on yoga that show the postured mentioned. Choose a simple one with photographs; do not think you have to achieve the perfection of a practitioner with 30 years experience and practice of yoga. Go to classes but remember it is not a competitive sport. Get you magnetic support belt from a reliable, long established mail order supplier.
What ever you do try relax into it, life is too stressful to add a compulsion to achieve a certain posture within a limited time span. Be happy.

***Surviving Radiation the Wise Woman Way
We are adapted to survive mild exposures to radiation. After all, the sun is a kind of controlled nuclear bomb and it releases a lot of radiation. Of course, this radiation, and man-made radiation, can also cause cancer and a host of short- and long-term health problems.

7 Benefits of Eating Raw Foods
"Raw Foods" is a popular phrase these days that is often misunderstood, yet represents a powerful, grass roots health movement. Some people shun the idea, not knowing what it means. Others embrace the idea, not knowing what it means. And that's no wonder, since there are many different interpretations of what it means to be on a raw food diet. Personally, I advocate a plant-based raw food diet. In other words, I suggest eating green leafy vegetables, sea vegetables, other vegetables, nuts, seeds, sprouted seeds, and fruit.
