Candace Thoth is an author consultant, board member of Femfessionals Honolulu, Hawaii State Coordinator of the Love Foundation, and founder of Return to Aloha. She enjoys writing inspirational, spiritual, and philosophical material. Candace has also written scholarly articles, including a peer-reviewed article on HIV self-disclosure in adolescents and she co-authored an encyclopedia entry about cultural transmission.
Candace’s early experiences of trauma and of being enrolled in a desegregation program throughout her primary and secondary education influenced her decision to pursue her studies in psychology. During her psychological training, Candace realized that the most essential components of healing are self-love, acceptance, and authenticity. In an effort to practice what she preached, she chose to withdraw from her doctoral program in clinical psychology in order to pursue her true passion of alte ative and spiritual healing.
Upon moving to Hawaii in 2013, Candace continued to work with underserved populations as a crisis therapist while simultaneously founding Return to Aloha, an online space designed to spread Aloha and promote well-being. Through her work, Candace reminds us that inner-peace is always accessible through mindfulness, self-care, and wellness programs.
