The Long Version:

Cynthia Shelby-Lane, MD is a doctor, comedienne and talk show host who believes “laughter is good medicine”. As the creator of CASL (Cynthia A Shelby-Lane) PRODUCTIONS, INC., Dr. Shelby-Lane is outrageous, unstoppable and unreasonable when it comes to promoting her desire to combine laughter and medicine. She is a producer, director, performer and a perpetual "wanna be". Launching her vision into media medicine, Dr. Shelby-Lane has been seen and heard on local, state and national television and radio talk shows, educating Americans on a variety of medical issues. She was one of eight national radio and television spokespersons for the Medic Alert Foundation. Her radio talk show, “Dr. Shelby-Lane & The Medicine Show”, syndicated on Libertyworks Radio Network and was considered "MEDICAL SCHOOL FOR AMERICANS". She and her co-hosts emphasized the fact that laughter is therapeutic and healing. Her guests included the “ageless” Dick Clark; academy award winning actor, James Coburn; weight loss Guru, Dr. Robert Atkins and Les Brown, the motivator. She also appeared in infomercials with actor/ singer, Frankie Avalon.

Realizing the popularity of the theme, “Laughter is the Best Medicine"’, Dr. Shelby-Lane created her own comedy troupe, GIRLFRIEND VILLAGE & CO. which presented over 30 successful performances. Since the inception of her group, she has toured the Country with her "Humor in Medicine Symposium". She has presented her COMEDY REVUE as the following shows: "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Stirrups", “Healthy, Wealthy, and Streetwise”, “The LAUGH ATTACK”, and “Girlfriend Village and Company Improv and Stand-up Show”. She has been the keynote and guest speaker, discussing topics such as domestic violence, sexual harassment, violence in America, HIV awareness, physician well-being, and “Staying Young: Ageless Medicine; Ageless Living”, all to the tune of humor. She is currently working hard to stomp out heart disease with messages about prevention by using humor. Her show, “Laugh Attack: Stopping the # 1 Killer- Heart Disease”, is a clean comedy act, starring local comedians and improv segments. Some of Dr. Shelby-Lane's other guests include Jularene Kinte-Clause, Sasha Maria-Cabana, MD, PhD, BS., Teena Turner, and Dr. Brother from the HOOD. Is Laughter Really Good Medicine? I’m a physician. Actually a doctor by day and a comedienne by night. Therefore, I actually believe that “Laughter is the Best Medicine“, for the right situation. In the past two days, I have seen death of a friend, new life “a baby girl and niece”, and now dying…in my family. We have found something to cheer about in all three situations. Humor has been our coping mechanism, and it has kept us from falling apart.

What the Heck is Earthing? As a doctor, I rarely go Earthing. Or fishing or running. I just don’t get out often enough to have that kind of fun. I do get close to meditating, especially after a rough day in the hood. And, I’m usually dancing between patients in one practice, or laughing with others in another, who just need extra time to x”plain” their situation. As a physician who practices anti-aging and functional medicine, I have devoted my career to helping people live longer and create healthier lives. I have a passion for healthy living, so wellness and staying young has been my mantra. But, in January of 2011, I experienced the sudden loss of two friends in their fifties, and a personal family tragedy that made me take a hard look at life. Sudden death wakes you up. As hard as I was working to keep people healthy and young, those closest to me were in trouble, and dying.

The awesome foursome is not a group of ninja turtles who save the day. They are four nutritional supplements that are essential to increasing the survival rate of heart patients. These are magnesium, coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10), L-ca itine, and D-ribose. If you ever heard Dr. Stephen Sinatra speak, cardiologist, speaker and author, you would know that you can help supply more energy to your heart with these four basic nutritionals than with most drugs.
