Starting out originally as a motivational coach, I found that most of my clients wanted to make more money in their spare time, start a business or balance their home business with their family. Since I already had two home businesses as a freelance writer and a tutor, I was able to help them out quite a lot using my own experience.
Fast forward a year, a lot of books, conversations, webinars, practical experience, experiments and some deadends, and I've learned quite a lot about not only working from home, but succeeding at running a home business while raising a family.

Marketing Your Home Business on a Forum
Some work from home businesses swear by Google Adwords, not me, I generally swear at it. Google Adwords can be great, if you know exactly how to use it and have the budget for it, but if you don’t know the exact words to use and you don’t have a marketing budget of at least several hundred dollars, it is risky. I spent several hundred dollars on it when I was first starting and did not get a single customer. For this reaso I prefer using forum marketing for more targeted and cheaper advertising.
