I have been in “sales & marketing” in one form all of my adult life. And in the last 20 years, I have bought, started, or sold ten different businesses. I have been a professional photographer, a publisher of educational material, calendars and greeting cards, the owner of a framing shop & art gallery, a professional tour guide, an independent distributor of health products, a speaker, a trainer, a translator, and a teacher. I guess you could say that entrepreneurship is as vital to me as the blood in my veins.

I have also written two published books; my first one became a Canadian bestseller in 1992. The first printing of my second book—A First Serving of Milk & Cookies for Success—was released in September 2004 and is almost sold out. As well, I have contributed a chapter in the bestselling book 101 Great Ways To Improve Your Life (Volume 2).

With the help of Laurel, my wife and business partner in The BizzBoosters, I have generated millions of dollars of business, and I’m very enthusiastic about sharing our insights with all who want to boost their business.

Everything I've just said about me so far relates to one of the hats I wear... I wear a second one too. That hat is labeled "personal development". My favorite experts in that field are: Stephen R. Covey, Dr. Robert Anthony, Jack Canfield and Mark Victor Hansen.

My very favorite self-growth mentors are: Robert J. Ringer, Zig Ziglar, the late Jim Rohn, Brian Tracy, W Mitchell, and of course, Les Brownwho wrote a wonderful foreword for my two most recent books. If entrepreneurship is like the blood in my veins, then certainly self-development is like the air in my lungs; I can't live without it.

On a Personal Note, I live in a beautiful, spacious townhouse in a very green area of Ottawa—the capital of Canada—near the Ottawa River and Britannia Beach where I like to walk or bike to and watch the sun set over the water. I love biking; it’s my favorite mode of exercise and pastime.

My other pastimes include reading, movies, music, walking, visiting museums & art galleries, attending plays and concerts, cooking (especially on the BBQ), wine (studying, and savoring), and traveling, particularly on a cruise ship. Over the years, I have toured almost all of North America, and I’ve lived in three provinces and the Yukon Territory (for 13 years).

I do not have children of my own, but I have lots of nieces, nephews, siblings and parents I love to visit and spend quality time with every chance I get.

One of my favorite activities is creating new words: business words like Connectworking, Communicaetiquette, BizzTool, BizzBuilder & BizzBlocker. And adjectives like awesomsational, splendelightful, amazincredible, outstandynamite and wonderFUNtastic. My favorite made-up word is Successerenity—attaining it is Laurel’s and my ultimate goal in life. We define it this way:

"It’s the peace of mind experienced by people who are comfortable with the choices they’ve made, and who are contentedly enjoying success, with success defined as making their life what they want it to be, their better life for THEM, the design they give it, the dreams they accomplish."

That’s precisely what Laurel and I are experiencing at the moment. And because it feels so right, we try our very best to help as many people as we can experience it too.

The point was well made in the first part of this article, that there is NO security in this life, that “playing it safe” is not the best strategy to live life to the fullest. The best strategy, in my opinion, is to… Be Bold and DARE … “Don’t persist in the routine and the predictable simply because you’re too scared to try anything else. Don’t take care ... TAKE RISKS. We cannot progress unless we take some sort of risk.” Michael McKinley “There is nothing valuable that does not have inherent risk.

I want you to visualize a big 747 plane—big jumbo jet with whatever colors and emblems you want. As big and complex as a 747 is, the success of its operation relies in great part on a few small things. Things like tires for example—at least small in relation to the size and cost of the whole plane.

Truth be told, it’s really hard to build a successful home based business these days. For one thing, you have a ton of competition. Good competition from all the other legitimate home business opportunities. And competition, in a way, from all the bottom-feeders of the world who pretend to be businesspeople when they’re only snake-oil merchants peddling gifting programs and similar schemes. There are hundreds of marketing gurus out there who can show you dozens of technical ways to increase your traffic, and improve your conversion and closing ratios.

First things first! If you’re playing baseball (or any ball game that involves three bases and a home plate), what is the first thing on your mind as you come to the plate? Yeah, yeah… hitting the next pitch over the fence and winning the game with one swing of your bat. Of course. But that doesn’t happen often. Back to reality. The first thing you want to do is get to first base. That’s a good start. You can’t bat a run in and you can’t score one yourself if you’re sent back to the bench with your head hanging low and your bat dragging behind.

Regardless of the methods or strategies you’re using to market on the Internet, it’s a tough go out there. Wouldn’t you agree? But let’s not talk about the problems associated with Internet marketing.

ThINK it... Here are three very important points I made in my book Milk & Cookies For Success: 1-The most valuable piece of real estate in the world (also the tiniest) is the small space between your two ears—that small plot that houses your brain (your mind) which defines who you are as a human being. 2-YOU (and only you) own that piece of property—it is ALL YOURS to develop as YOU want! 3-The mind is only as strong as its weakest think (like a chain is only as strong as its weakest link).

It just amazes me how often I observe Internet marketers go through 95% of what they ought to go through to successfully promote their products, services or business opportunity online, and then fall short of the mark because of the 5% they omit to do. Unfortunately, that 5% is a killer. It’s like you and your family getting ready to take a once-in-a-lifetime month-long vacation somewhere exotic.

Because I run a profitable and legitimate home based business myself, I have a pretty good idea of what a glorious day would look like for you. First, you wake up to find out you’ve had an abundance of traffic to your web site. From those hundreds of leads, dozens have indicated that they would like to know more about your products, and about your home based business opportunity.

The truth about networking is that (according to an article in Profit Magazine) “…most people suck at it.” What follows are business networking tips (i.e. for people who network in person at networking groups events), but you can apply those as well to social networking (for people who spend a lot of time on networking sites). The purpose of these tips is to help you reduce your chances of “sucking at networking”. That is one simple, easy way to beat your competition.

Failure Stinks! Failure is D.R.A.M.A. – Dreadful, Ruinous, Awful, Mean, Atrocious. Failure should be avoided at all costs! That’s a MYTH that needs to be busted. Contrary to what most people think …FAILURE IS NOT AN “F” WORD! In my book A First Serving of Milk & Cookies For Success, I devote eight pages – nearly 3,000 words – to this topic. Why?

“Born an original” is one of the topics I’m more passionate about. That’s because I’m afraid people don’t really appreciate that fact. They “know it” at the intellectual level, but they don’t “get it” at the gut level.
