Gladys is affectionately known as the self-care genie. She gives care-giving women the gift of permission to take care of themselves while taking care of everyone else's needs.

In addition to coaching individuals, groups, facilitating workshops, writing and speaking, Gladys maintains a thriving marriage and family therapy practice. She has over 15 years of combined experience guiding her clients to reach goals, set new sights and live authentically, joyfully and confidently. With integrity, compassion, gentle guidance, insightful wisdom and passionate encouragement, she has led countless women to thinking about self-care in innovative and empowering ways.

She is the author of numerous self-care articles and conducts workshops and group coaching on such topics as boundary setting, empowerment, confidence building, relationships, self-control, stress management, gratitude, life balance and communications. Gladys helps care-giving women slow down, jump off the hamster wheel and take time for self-care.

Specialized training and treading through the rough waters of taking time for self-care has equipped Gladys with the skills, determination and compelling desire to share her expertise with other women who find themselves mired in overwhelm, over commitment, overwork and overdoing.

Gladys holds a master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Cambridge College, Cambridge, MA, and certification as a personal life coach from Coach Training Alliance. She is also a Clinical Member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapists and a member of the Connecticut chapter of AAMFT.

My passion is helping to empower care-giving women to take time for self-care so that they live richer, more authentic and fulfilled lives. I mix a blend of life experience, training, coaching and counseling skills to guide women into empowering ways of taking time for self-care.

Who are you really? I'm not asking what you are but rather WHO is that person deep inside of you…the one who shows up whether you want her to or not. You are not just teachers, lawyers, social workers, managers, administrators, etc. These are labels that society uses to identify the work we do. The woman in the mirror who stares back at you each morning is not all there is to who you are. You must look much deeper than the face you see in the mirror to see who you really are and love the woman in the mirror.

With the crisp mornings and even cooler evenings here in New England, it seems we are fast approaching the end of another year. The leaves have changed colors. The sky has taken on its winter hue. The frenzy of the holidays are fast approaching with just a few more weeks until the beginning of a new year! Where did the time go? If you're anything like me, you wonder how summer could have come and gone so quickly. Speaking of how quickly things change…how much have you accomplished in the way of making the changes you started out with at the beginning of the year?

If you are not familiar with the term vision board, let me explain what it is. A vision board is simply a collage of images, quotes and affirmations of your goals and dreams pasted on poster board giving you a visual for what you want to attract into your life. One of my dreams is to be interviewed on the Oprah show!!! So, ideally, I would collect pictures of guests on Oprah's show and insert my picture instead, creating a visible reality for my dream. In other words, I have a visual reminder to focus on and can experience the feeling of my dream.

I often hear women say, "there's just not enough hours in the day", "where did the time go", "it seems the more I do, the less I get done" and my favorite, "I just need more time to get everything done". Have you ever found yourself saying any of these things? Are you spinning your wheels and going nowhere fast? If so, you are not alone.. Most women place time high on the priority list of what they want. The reality is we all have the same 1440 minutes or 24 hours in a day. It's more about how we use the time we have versus the amount of time available.

There is so much in life we have little or no control over. You can't control the weather or the sun rising or setting but the good news is there are many other things that you absolutely CAN control. Here are some of them: Letting Go of Expectations Let go of the notion that you can change another person, their actions or non-actions. Your moral compass may not be the same as someone else's. When you let go of the expectations you have of others, you can have more control of your own life.

The first book I read by Erma Bombeck was "If Life is a Bowl of Cherries, What Am I Doing in the Pits". I was hooked after that. And when her poem, If I Had My Life to Live Over came along, I was even more inspired by a woman who could write such a profound poem after being diagnosed with cancer. Ms. Bombeck's poem encourages us to live each day in the moment, take nothing for granted and enjoy the abundance we have been given. Ms.
