Balance
Written by Jean Adrienne
The Universe wants everything to be always in balance, and it strives to ensure that this is the case. Homeostasis is the property of a system that regulates its internal environment and tends to maintain a stable, constant condition. Our bodies operate in this way, as a microcosm of universal order.
There is a theory that all action follows the rule of balance as well. If you drill down deep enough, you will find that there is a counter-balance to everything that occurs. When you are able to find these energetic pairs, you have the ability to neutralize all negativity, release all fear and remove doubt from your world. Any time something happens in your life, whether you perceive it to be positive or negative, the exact opposite happens at exactly the same time. For example, someone says something to hurt your feelings. At the same moment someone somewhere is saying something good about you. All you have to do is dig deep enough and you will find that balancing occurrence. Once you acknowledge that it happened, you neutralize the charge on the hurt and release the wound. It’s just that easy. The difficulty comes in remembering to dig down and find the balancing action.
Let’s look at balance in a different way. Remember the axiom “when one door closes, another one opens”? This is yet another example of balance within universal order. Florence Scovil Shinn, in her book The Game of Life and How To Play It, taught that there is no such thing as loss. She was striving to share her thoughts on balance. So often, though, we get caught up in our disappointment and forget to look past the surface appearance. We forget that the Universe isn’t going to allow imbalance to occur, and we slip unwittingly into that place of fear, victim mentality. “Woe is me”, we lament, not realizing that a gift lies just around the corner if we will only stop whining and look for it!
There is a flip side to working with balance. When we use force instead of power, we throw things totally OUT of balance. This happens automatically when we allow our ego-mind to drive our actions. When we step out of surrender and think we know what is best (and usually we do this when we think we know what is best for someone else), we start trying to hammer square pegs into round holes and they just won’t fit. This out of balance energy is what limits our ability to receive all the bounty that is ours by Divine right.
Balance is one of the main keys in consistent conscious creation. Working with Universal Laws, rather than going against the flow, is the only way that makes sense. As children we sang, “Row, row, row your boat gently down the stream. Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily, life is but a dream.” Hold on to this song and let it guide your manifestations!

What is the importance of Living Guru?
Questioner: If we surrender to the great souls that lived thousands of years ago, can that be considered surrender? Can we make any progress through such surrender or do we need to surrender to a living great man? Dadashri: You can progress even through Paroksha (indirectly- one not currently living). However if you find such a living (Pratyaksh) person, then your liberation will be instant. The indirect approach will give you the benefit of progress but there is no liberatio
