Why do over 50% of all people on a diet fail? There are many explanations that can be given to this. You might think to yourself, “I don’t have the time to work out properly,” or “I can’t possibly do it by myself but who has the money to waste on a weight loss program that probably won’t work?” or even “ I really tried but it was just too hard.” These are all responses we’ve heard before but they don’t really get to the nitty gritty of the REAL reason as to why the pounds aren’t peeling off.
What’s the real reason for the large number of weight loss failures? It’s so simple we usually fail to realize it......lack of motivation. Picture this scenario, you’ve just purchased the hot new weight loss program on the market that all the movie stars are swearing by. You think to yourself, “They’re no better than me. If they can do it why not me?” You’re really pumped and ready to go. Before you even open the package, you’re already imaging yourself on the beach showing off that new toned body. Hurriedly, you tear open the package to get started.
The first couple of weeks go by without a hitch. You’ve lost a few pounds and although your anxious to see the weight really start rolling off, you're pretty content with your start. After all it’s just two weeks. Then that day comes (as is common in all weight loss jou
eys) when you step on the scale and notice no change in weight. The next day comes with the same results as does the day after that. This is what’s commonly referred to as a plateau. Most people experience this when losing weight; however, there are many ways to overcome it and go on with your weight loss. However, instead of seeking a solution you panic and begin to doubt yourself. That’s usually the time when the “excuses” start. You think to yourself, “Who was I fooling. There’s no way I can lose all this weight. I’m not like those movies stars.” or “The program was probably just a phony anyway. Those people are actors. They probably had liposuction or something.” or the old tried and true, “It’s just too hard. I can’t do it.” Sound familiar?
Well, the first thing you need to know is that if you think you can’t do something and you say so you’re ABSOLUTELY right. You will NEVER be able to do that thing. Not because you’re not capable of it but simply because you BELIEVE you’re not capable of it. What you think about yourself and what you believe to be true about yourself becomes you’re reality. By stating all of those negative things about weight loss, you ruin your weight loss chances and even if you have the best weight loss program in the world, you will still never reach your goals because of your negative attitude; hence, the importance of great motivation.
Great motivation brings about a positive attitude and a positive attitude brings about positive results; in other words, weight loss success! Instead of giving up when you reach a plateau, you will leave no stone untu
ed in finding the solution to help you reach your weight loss success. You will succeed because you BELIEVE without a shadow of a doubt that you will succeed. So put on your walking shoes and stay motivated! Make it a daily habit to listen to motivational tapes and read motivational quotes, books, etc. Remember, “whatever your mind can conceive, you can achieve.” Here’s to your weight loss success!

Dear Keith and Maura, Do you think it means anything if a guy you like at work happens to give you his cell phone number out of the blue, or if you ask that guy – joking around – if he can give you a ride home from work and he has a big grin on his face? I work at a grocery store ...

How Could This Be About Me?
Dear Keith and Maura, I just found your website and podcasts yesterday and they totally resonate with me. I am a very active youthful 55. I was widowed suddenly at 32 with 2 babies. My soulmate died and I was lost and devastated. I banged around for 10 years raising my boys, working and trying to find a similar loving relationship as I had. I met losers, liars, cheaters, alcoholics, and abusers.
