“Life is either a daring adventure or nothing”…Helen Keller. “Truth or Dare”… Madonna.
Two completely flip sides of the coin of perspectives by two women from completely different ends of the spectrum of time and space. But, maybe not! Both women dared to be themselves in the changing evolution of their lives and their causes they effected.
Helen Keller certainly overcame insurmountable odds, changing the perspective of what so-called handicap individuals could do or not do. She certainly surpassed the challenged of being deaf and blind, not just “talking” about her situation but “seeing” through her disadvantages and belief systems of the time. She put herself “out there” bravely and deliberately without fear of being ridiculed. Whether she was or not, was not the issue, she dared her Self to share her struggles and victories. She was and still is a paradigm shifter for the ages. She contributed to life and to the lives of others. She is a “sign” of what can be accomplished from the worse case scenario to continuing achievements as she helped others “hear” and “see” in new ways. She dared! She evolved as she helped others evolve a new consciousness about the handicapped!
Madonna, a young teenage girl with a vision and a drive to succeed and reinvented herself as she evolved physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. She was both adored and criticized, even banned at various times of her life, but she persevered, doing it her way. Whether you agreed with her or not, she too has courage to live her life. She was fearless. Perhaps at times it seemed as though she was so far out of the box for mainstream, yet today Madonna is closer to mainstream as a wife, mother, and children’s author than anyone would have expected from her earlier days as a seemingly rebel.
It may seem strange to have these two women in the same article. But not really so strange sisters of daring! Both were rebels of their times. Both proving to be paradigm shifters of their times! Both daring to be different in their ages and times and choosing to live their lives “out of the box” instead of the accepted norm.
Whichever path you choose for your Self, dare to be your Self. Dare to get out of the box. Look at life from all perspectives. Helen did. Trust your ‘gut feeling”. See a bigger vision for your Self. Madonna did. So can you.
Don’t let others stop you from achieving your dream. It is definitely not the destination, as you can learn from the lives of these two very different women, it is the journey and how you choose to experience the journey as you move through the stages of your life.
Enjoy the process. Make each moment count, because each moment of your life belongs to you! n

Dear Keith and Maura, Do you think it means anything if a guy you like at work happens to give you his cell phone number out of the blue, or if you ask that guy – joking around – if he can give you a ride home from work and he has a big grin on his face? I work at a grocery store ...

Would You Rather Be Right Or Happy?

How Could This Be About Me?
Dear Keith and Maura, I just found your website and podcasts yesterday and they totally resonate with me. I am a very active youthful 55. I was widowed suddenly at 32 with 2 babies. My soulmate died and I was lost and devastated. I banged around for 10 years raising my boys, working and trying to find a similar loving relationship as I had. I met losers, liars, cheaters, alcoholics, and abusers.
