It is easy to realize the enlightened state. It is just a matter of focus. Try this now:
Close your eyes and notice your experience of what is here beyond thought. You are not to define it, describe it or use thoughts at all.
If it helps, stop all thinking for a second and notice your experience. Simply feel what is here. Experience the sensation of what is here. The sensation of existing in this moment.
You may refer to it as the sensation of your entire body. And if it helps, you can use this as a reference. But in this case, do not name it, just feel it. The sensation of existing in this moment.
Don't think about it, just try it.
Close your eyes and do this now.
If you did this very simple exercise, then you just experienced yourself beyond the mind and body. You just realized the enlightened state.
When you closed your eyes, did you notice that your experience of existing did not have any boundaries? That it was not solid?
You experienced yourself as energy, conscious energy, the pure state of peace and freedom completely transcendent of who you think you are.
But what happens is you very quickly come back to identifying with your thoughts and so the enlightened state you just realized seems unreal. The moment you stopped the exercise, you stopped experiencing what is here and started experiencing your mind's interpretation of what is here.
So close your eyes again and experience what is here beyond thought. Experience the sensation of existing in this moment.
You see, it is easy to realize the enlightened state for short periods of time. And the more you practice, the more comfortable it will be to experience yourself beyond the mind and body and the peace and bliss that goes with it.
And if you experienced yourself beyond the mind and body, then you no longer can play the victim. You can no longer pretend that you are this person, stuck in situations that cause you suffering. You can no longer pretend you are a prisoner of a mind and body.
Because although the mind and body may be part of your experience, you just proved that you can exist completely free from the mind and all of its sufferings.
You can and do exist in an enlightened state of formless conscious peace.
Whether you choose to live in the mind is a different story.
That is a choice you can make, and if you are conscious you made that choice, then that is also blissful.
But to keep pretending that you are a victim of suffering is pointless. You can be free of it in any moment. It is your choice.
To make it even easier to realize the enlightened state, check out the link below. It is a remarkable tool that makes it very easy to experience yourself completely free of the body and mind.

How Could This Be About Me?
Dear Keith and Maura, I just found your website and podcasts yesterday and they totally resonate with me. I am a very active youthful 55. I was widowed suddenly at 32 with 2 babies. My soulmate died and I was lost and devastated. I banged around for 10 years raising my boys, working and trying to find a similar loving relationship as I had. I met losers, liars, cheaters, alcoholics, and abusers.
