The Personal and Our Higher Self

The Personal Self is who we believe ourselves to be. It’s called our personality. In this personal self, is our physical image, as well as, our hopes, and dreams. Much of this personal self is geared to success in the material world. It sees success from a material desire to achieve. And it lives its life with the knowledge of right and wrong. The personal self, also has the freedom to choose. This self can accept a moral code, or reject one. It can lie to itself, or it can live seeking a higher truth. And the best example of the difference between the personal self, and that of our Higher Self can be seen in this next quote.
“Be not a man of success, instead, be a man of value”.
Most people who seek success in our country, believe it to be financial. Success buys you the lifestyle you have always dreamed of. It brings with it, power and the kind of freedom that allows one to live, relatively carefree. The search for success also can provide the path to Self-discovery. For it is the choices we make, that make us who we are.
For me, everyday was a matter of learning who I was. Learning that self-sacrifice, can teach us more of whom we are;than all the years it took, to accept and love yourself. This indeed, is part of the journey of self-discovery.
Your journey may make you seek material success, and in the long run find it wasn’t what you truly wanted. Or, you can reject an outward journey for Higher Ground. And in doing so, find what true success really means? For although money can buy you a lifestyle, it can’t give you your sense, of the ete
al. It can satisfy a temporary hunger, but it can’t fulfill it. It can help you feel important by worldly standards, but it can't give you, your ete
al worth.
So we can choose what's temporal in monetary gain. Or, we can choose what is lasting and lives forever. Our Higher Self gives us value. It gives us our Self Worth. And from that starting point, it can lead us to form the kind of character that succeeds in heaven.
So let us choose wisely. Let’s begin by developing the kind of character that is worthy of our success. Let us choose to become a man of value, and let that be our heaven and earthly goal. Let us make that, our highest degree of success. For it is in how we think that we are. And it is in what we value, that we become.

How Could This Be About Me?
Dear Keith and Maura, I just found your website and podcasts yesterday and they totally resonate with me. I am a very active youthful 55. I was widowed suddenly at 32 with 2 babies. My soulmate died and I was lost and devastated. I banged around for 10 years raising my boys, working and trying to find a similar loving relationship as I had. I met losers, liars, cheaters, alcoholics, and abusers.
