What’s Your New Year’s Resolution?...Resolving to "Being" Instead of Just "Doing"

You know that most of us try to make New Year’s resolutions at the start of a new year. We vow to make changes by doing things differently and then we set our goals of how we plan on accomplishing them. But perhaps we did it with a bit of resistance, questioning whether we would follow through with them or whether we could actually manifest our desired outcome. It may be that some of those things you want to change are not necessarily things you are really excited about pursuing (you might know it’s good for you but you really don’t want or are not ready emotionally to make the change) or you fear that you will fail to succeed….like quitting smoking or losing weight or making a certain amount of money or whatever. And then if things don’t seem to be working out, you have emotionally and energetically set yourself up for continued failures…and then what? You might simply give up because the effort is too stressful and doesn’t seem to be creating the results you had hoped for.
Well, you need to understand that MANIFESTING should feel GOOD. It shouldn’t tear you apart inside, where you become completely drained of the desire or hope that you had in the beginning of your journey.

So I offer you this…a new type of resolution. Before making changes to what we are going to DO, let’s first look at making changes on how we are going to BE. Make sure any resolution you make feels GOOD to you, emotionally and within your body…that it’s something you really want to do and feel you can accomplish. If you feel you can’t accomplish it, discard it. When you do make a resolution, select an action step that you know you can follow through on. Minimize the emotional stress that you may be imposing on yourself because your action (or DOING) doesn’t align with your core essence (or BEING).

One of my resolutions is to give myself permission for being new to launching a business in which I offer my books, my Reiki instruction and my life coaching, and to not feel that I need to know everything and do everything now. When I venture out into the market, I see how many people there are doing the same thing I am and I begin to think that I won’t be successful because I feel I’m so far behind. I mean, who will want the services of a novice when there are so many with so much more experience than me?

HOWEVER, with a new perspective and growing viewpoint about true abundance (see my Musings posting on Real abundance on December 26, 2010), I am able to see that there’s enough for everyone in this world and that I will draw clients and customers who will resonate energetically with me…who will feel a connection with me and not necessarily someone else.

So what I resolve to do is this...anytime I begin to feel the anxiety of my fear, I will take a moment through a brief meditation (if even for a few deep focused breaths) to remind myself that I’m new, that there is plenty for everyone and I will attract the perfect clients to me. And of course, I will reward myself for every forward-moving step. AND, I won’t be afraid to reach out to those with more expertise than me and ask for guidance along the way.

One other suggestion that helps this process even further by increasing the chances that you will follow through is to establish a support system, asking a friend or family member or colleague or coach to “monitor” your progress by simply and gently asking how you are doing on your journey to manifesting that which you wish to accomplish. If you feel you are being held accountable, you will likely be a bit more adamant about succeeding. Of course, real success comes from within, from your own inner drive; however, it is always good to be supported. We don’t live in a vacuum, you know! Most of us like to receive the support and goodwill of others just as we wish to act in kind.
And you know what happens when you are DOING from that place of BEING? When you’re able to carry through your actions because they’re with an inner purpose, you begin to develop a self-trust that evolves into a powerful loving relationship with yourself. When love flows within, so will it flow without...so BEING becomes an easy state of DOING.

Now I ask you to resolve that which you wish to manifest...

1. State your resolutio
FIRST in how you want to BE. Feel it in your body. How does it feel? Remember, if the resolution doesn’t feel good inside, DON’T do it.
2. Once you feel good about it and you feel strongly you can manifest it, then identify the step(s) that you know you can follow through with.
3. If/when you feel some discomfort due to any fears that may surface trying to deter you from reaching your desired goal, use breathing or visualization or meditation or some other method that can bring you back to your center. Know that you are on purpose and that you are manifesting something that you deeply desire.
4. Reward yourself along the way in whatever way you wish. This can be a simple pat on the back or an inner smile just knowing that you are following your path, or it can be a monetary treat or whatever way you desire to compensate yourself for a job well done.
5. Ask for support from family, a friend, coach, colleague, or whomever you can rely on to be there for you.
6. Feel the confidence and self love that builds inside of you as you move closer and closer to that which you seek.

You are living purposefully…you are living the life you desire.

Self-love is very essential in boosting our self-esteem. A person having self-love is contented with his own presence, whereas a person who does not have self-love always wanders to get love from other people or things. He is always restless. Grave danger in uprooting a Guru Do not accept a known guru as guru, and if you do, then do not turn your back on him. Use a pot if you do not like him. The pot will not have any problems. How can one understand all this? Questioner: At the time we make someone our guru, he appears to be very good, he

Questioner: If we surrender to the great souls that lived thousands of years ago, can that be considered surrender? Can we make any progress through such surrender or do we need to surrender to a living great man? Dadashri: You can progress even through Paroksha (indirectly- one not currently living). However if you find such a living (Pratyaksh) person, then your liberation will be instant. The indirect approach will give you the benefit of progress but there is no liberatio
