***BE THE HERO IN YOUR OWN STORY

Many times I see people who are stressed out, unhappy, overwhelmed, angry and afraid. And these are the “spiritual” people. I have to ask myself “What isn’t working?” Then I see people who are happy, self-aware, and enjoying their life. I have to ask myself, “What is working?” The interesting thing is, from outward appearances, there is no rhyme or reason really as to who is happy and who isn’t. Lack of money is blamed for many ills; however, I have met a number of people who have no money and are full of life and love without stress. So money obviously is not the key.

What's Your Favorite Inspirational Quote?

Life is amazing, isn't it? Whatever stage you're at - teenager or retiree, in work or out of work, single or married, parent or grand-parent - life is sure to throw you the odd curve-ball or two, to test you out a little. And when life turns sour (or sweet!) then it's always great to be able to ...

***The Most Tragic Addiction

In my experience and observation the most tragic and insidious of all addictions is the addiction to suffering. The clinical definition of addiction is “compulsive repetition of a known behavior with adverse consequences.” In other words addiction is repeatedly engaging in actions that knowingly cause adverse results. There are two persistent issues connected with addictions, (1) what is causing the addiction and (2) how do we stop it?

***PAIN AND ALTE ATIVE MEDICINE

My name is James Gray Robinson, and I am a spiritual/energy/faith healer. Earlier in my life, I was a trial atto ey in North Carolina, from a family filed with lawyers and medical doctors. My twin brother is the medical director of the Guilford County (NC) Health Department. My background and training would normally dismiss energy or spiritual healing as stuff of wishful thinking or downright quackery. I have discovered that alte ative medical techniques are effective and complementary to medical science. This article examines how and why alte ative medicine works.

***SENTIMENTALITY

I have learned that there are many sources of misery and suffering in this world. It seems that every belief system has its pet theory. Buddhists believe that desire causes all suffering. Other religions claim separation from God (sin) causes suffering. Others believe that rejection of what is happening at any given moment causes suffering. Yet still others claim that fear causes suffering. I offer the case of sentimentality as a major cause of suffering.

***A CRISIS OF CONSCIOUSNESS

I read recently that a very famous spiritual writer was calling on all “light workers” to pray for healing for the world and for an end to the world’s problems and strife so that love and happiness could rule supreme. This misunderstanding is at the core of the issues challenging our reality at the moment. Not coincidentally, the world stock markets are plunging (again) and financial uncertainty is again at our doorstep. Financial doom and gloom are causing suffering all over the planet.

***HAPPINESS VS. DENIAL

A student asked me a very good question the other day, and I had to think awhile before I responded. It is a question that many people never ask themselves and as a result miss an opportunity to apply some very important teachings. The question was “how do I know whether I am happy or just in denial?” When we talk about denial, we are talking about a defense mechanism that our minds use to ignore pain. We suppress unpleasant subjects and bury traumatic memories in order to function. Many times this suppression can lead to anger that is in turn suppressed, and a vicious cycle forms.

Personal Development Explained

Personal development is a broad term. As such, it needs to be defined more clearly than simply being explained by end results. Personal development (or self development) is the process of improving ones self. The most common definitions of personal development imply: improving self awareness or self knowledge, finding your identity, discovering your passion, improving your potential, enhancing the quality of your life, realizing your dreams, or fulfilling your aspirations. ***Are You Really Successful? 8 “Wise” Ways to Tell

Charging into adulthood was all I had dreamed about for 18 years. Daydreams of independence and a successful career were the thoughts in my youth. I pursued education and employment opportunities with such fervor that I was sure I would learn it all to have it all. Knowledge of people, places and things was most important to succeed in life. I set off to one of the best colleges to learn the right things and meet the right people. Two years of unfulfilling experiences found me transferring home to attend school.

***THE MOST POWERFUL FORCE IN THE WORLD

I used to think that the most powerful energy in the world is love. There were many reasons for this, as love changes everything. Love is the creative aspect to creation, it is the energy that flows through us all, it is life. The love of the creative energy of the universe created us, sustains us, renews us. After experiencing true happiness, I now believe that there is a stronger force, the force of happiness.

***Over Thinking

Many of us are affected by a terrible affliction, a disease that causes suffering and misery in billions of people. The most amazing symptom of this disease is that most people don’t even know that they have it. Other symptoms include headaches, stress, restlessness, heartburn, ulcers and other digestive issues, loss of sleep, shortness of breath, memory loss, low self-esteem, substance abuse, and absent-mindedness. It is a condition loosely described as “obsessive thinking.” This is not to be confused with obsessive compulsive disorder, although I believe the two are linked.

***FOCUSING ON THE JOU EY

I suffer, primarily because I am constantly comparing myself to others. I make irrational and unjustified conclusions and assumptions about how I am doing by observing other people. I may be doing my best, but I will not feel satisfied or fulfilled if I observe other people further down the path or having more “success.” Conversely, I may not be doing my best but I will feel relieved or smug if I observe that I am ahead of others or more successful than others engaged in similar activities. I suffer because I was trained to think this way by an educational system that thought that way.

Setting SMART Goals -- My Smart Goal Example

Are your goals SMART goals? I mean to say are your goals Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant and Time-based? If not, then you may not get very far in what you set out to do today, this week or this month. SMART goals are the 'what?', 'why?' and 'when?' of goal setting. That is, what do you want to achieve? Why do you want to achieve it? And when do you want to achieve it by? And if you don't put your goals in such a framework you really are likely to forget your goals (eventually) and replace them, instead, with a new set of goals.

***RAISING VIBRATORY RATES

Many spiritual teachers and new age gurus talk about raising our vibratory rates. What they are really talking about is changing the way that we relate to the world, each other and our minds. Most spiritual beliefs include the proposition that we have a soul, or spirit, that is separate from our minds and thoughts. It is commonly referred to as the “higher self”, or an awareness of the perceived and the perceiver. When we can observe our minds thinking, our personalities working, our bodies doing, we can stop being held captive to these aspects of ourselves and begin to become aware.

Granted we are far away from universal peace and cooperation, but happiness is readily available anytime we want it. Love is pouring into all of us in amounts hard to perceive much less feel.

***GETTING OUT OF MY HEAD AND INTO MY HEART

I am troubled by all of the empowerment literature that discusses how we disempower ourselves by thinking disempowering thoughts. An entrepreneur’s focus is on developing standardized processes and structures, a business blueprint as it were, to enable the business to be equally effectively whether he runs it himself,

It is not a physical action, to “let go” of someone doesn’t mean to physically leave or to throw them out of the house. What “letting go” means is detachment and opening your heart.

LOVE AND WORK: THE PLEASURES OF OUR LIVES

Long ago I read a book that featured one of Dr. Sigmund Freud’s most famous theories. Freud said that man has two basic needs: love and work. As a young woman, I had already figured out the universal need for love, but the idea thatrn‘work’ was equally as important was a big ‘aha’. And so it was for me that my work became a meaningful part of my life. Today, it’s even better that my work involves helping others to find meaningful work, too. What is Fear of Success and Why Does it Limit Your Growth?

One of the strangest fears is the so-called fear of success. Fear of failure is understandable - it 'hurts' to fail, to have your limitations revealed - but to actually fear that you'll get what you've been working for all your life... Well, it just sounds daft, doesn't it? Well no, actually. Fear of success is very real and very serious, and quite often the worst thing about this fear is that it goes unnoticed. And that's because the person 'suffering' from it seems to be happy and seems to be successful, but they could have so much more!

Dispelling the Genetic Myth

Giving Advice: Come again when you can't stay so long!

A friend was buying cigarettes and a stranger said, “The surgeon general said smoking can be hazardous to your health.” My friend responded, “Did they also tell you that #$!@ing with me can be hazardous to your health?” The stranger opted to move to another line. rn rnWhen my friend told me about this encounter I laughed and then asked “why the heated response since you don’t smoke?” and she said, “because it wasn’t any of their business!” Now I don’t kn

Setting Personal Goals -- The Why and The How To

Setting goals is important, for all of us. If we didn't set goals - formerly via using SMART goals, or informally via something as simple as a to-do list - then we simply wouldn't get anything done in our day. Or our week. Or our year. I guess setting goals at work is controlled via your boss (or your customers), but in setting personal goals *you* have to be the boss (or you have to be your customer, so to speak). So what's the best way to set personal goals, then? Well, I think that personal goal setting requires that you set big goals and break them down into smaller ones.

***EMOTIONAL MATURITY

If we continue to live on this planet, we have to get older. There are various physiological changes that we experience as we go through the process of aging. Ignoring the legends of immortal beings that walk the planet, we all grow older physically. Genetics, supplements, a positive attitude, plenty of water, exercise and healthy diets can help us look young as long as possible, but the best we can expect is a cause of death that reads: “died of advanced age.” I remember the slogans, “live fast, die young.” Now that I am almost 60, I look forward to life after 100 years of age.

Absolutey Psychic Network - Astrology Reading Sample Part1

Traditional astrologers "make predictions." Often they are correct. But right or wrong, "predictions" turn you into a marionette, with the planets holding your strings. And in my opinion, that is not a very inspiring description of the way the cosmos works, nor a very accurate one. You are vastly more powerful than that. You can, to a great extent, shape your own life. That at least is my belief. The future isn't crystallized. It's a wavering, quivering web of possibil

LOCAL SPACE Astrology – Relocational Astrology part 3

I soon developed the trigonometry needed to answer these questions -- quite a prodigious undertaking for me and thus began a real "magical mystery tour" through my life history. You Can't Push The River

I’ve never tried to pull a caterpillar out of its cocoon, hoping to catch an early glimpse of the butterfly. I don’t recall ever ripping open the closed bud of a spring flower, desperate to experience its full bloom glory. I do, however, sometimes eat raw cookie dough before I bake the cookie. But if I always did that, I would never experience the sweet succulent warmth of crispy melting chocolate-flavored heaven swarming my taste-buds and rocking my entire being with org

***Activate Your Intuition: Creating Sacred Space to Unleash Your Inner Wisdom

It can be said that wisdom is a combination of knowledge, experience, and understanding of life as you know it. Within this wisdom you can access striations of compassion, patience, appreciation, and grace. You naturally feel compassion if a friend’s pet dies if you have experienced that sadness, too. You have tolerance for an elderly man who shuffles across the intersection; though he may keep you from making that all important left-hand turn, as perhaps you have had shuff
