"It Starts With Ourselves"
Since I was a very young child, I was given the gift of deep compassion for other people’s pain. For some reason it was almost as if I could jump into other people’s bodies and see through their eyes and hear through their ears. I knew how they felt and it would literally break my heart.r

"Erase and Replace"
Has your mind ever been filled with doubts, fears, shame, guilt, and self deprecation. Imagine your mind is like your home. Are there cobwebs? Is there dust? Is the furniture old and tattered? Throw it out! But have a plan. If you just throw out the couch of “I can’t”, and the bed of “I should”, and the mirror of “ self hatred”, you need to replace it with your true desires. If you erase your need to replace, otherwise your mind will be empty and vacant. Here are a few examples of how to erase and replace:

"Getting In Through The Cracks"
Looking, being, and acting perfect is not always what it is cracked up to be. It can occasionally be stemmed from perfectionism and shame based thinking, It is through the cracks that God can enter. "Come To Your Senses"
Usually when we hear the phrase “come to your senses”, we often think of using our mind and thoughts more correctly. Instead of using just the mind, how about dropping into the senses of the smells, colors, sounds, and feelings of this moment. By being fully present, it of course starts with the mind, but don’t stop there. Let your mind drip down into this “now” and into the six senses fully. Let every cell radiate consciousness of the pure deliciousness of this moment, right here, right now.

The Great Resistance to Healing
As I have stated many times, healing begins and occurs when a change in the pattern of a person’s life changes. This is a major shift in attitude, when the entire person decides to start anew. The person feels a shift, an epiphany and from that moment on, things are different. Working one on one with a person, this shift occurs easily and quickly and it occurs on the 2nd to 4th session.r

Finding Inner Peace
How to achieve inner peace. • Be aware, accept and love each part of yourself. • Know that each part has a positive intent, no matter how negative you think the part is. • Each part (that is troubling you) is an identity of a young child trying to survive a trauma and is stuck in that memory. When the part feels that you love and accept it, and it feels safe, then the part can detach from the memory and the part then unites with you and matures. The conflict, separation and fragmentation disappears.

Celebrating Life Vs Avoiding Death
When one first gets a diagnosis of cancer, they enter a state of shock, for cancer literally means dying for most of us. More people die of heart disease than cancer but cancer has much more fear attached to it, thanks to the plethora of misinformation around. To many, cancer means a death sentence. So if you get shocked by a diagnosis of cancer, it means that you automatically presumed that you were going to die. Now we are all going to die but it is not death that actually scares us so much, it is the premature death that we fear, dying before our time.

Awareness the key to Enlightenment
Awareness is probably the most powerful tool that you have to progress in your quest for understanding. Awareness is primarily the tool of the unconscious and the universe, and the ego can also use this tool. Simply put, awareness is just being aware, that’s all. Too often we bypass awareness and presume, criticize, judge and apply meaning and when we do this, we create an artificial reality, an illusion. In fact most of our lives are illusions. Awareness is staying still in the moment and when we become aware of something. Stop and stay there. Stay in awareness.

Rejection, go a different Direction.
As a baby we have one fear, we fear being separated. This is a survival mechanism, for if we are separated from our mother - we will perish. Though this is not necessarily so today, in our civilized world, this fear of separation is still inherited from our past. While we are attached to an outer object (mother) and while we are in the womb, we are protected and safe. When we enter the world and are free from our safe womb, we still need the attachment of this same outer object. For we have changed little from being in the womb, we can breathe air but we are even more vulnerable.

How to Heal Cancer?
When one asks how to heal cancer? This is a big question and healing cancer is not as difficult as many perceive, but there is a problem or dilemma. The problem is one of a lack of correct information and a plethora of misinformation. The view of the questioner who asks “How to heal cancer” is important. If they are in the majority then they probably see cancer as something foreign to them and then they want something to fight, kill and destroy the enemy (the cancer).

Can the mind Heal cancer?
Can you cure cancer using the mind? The answer is yes, but first we need to understand what cancer is. Cancer is a word or a label and when we use it, we recall our thoughts, beliefs and perceptions about cancer and what it is. It is easy to think when you are talking to another person about cancer, that we both know what cancer is and we both have the same perceptions. We can see that cancer is a disease and it can lead to death, now this statement is true but it leaves out much vital information and this information is necessary to heal cancer and be cancer free and healthy.

Of Cancer and Healing
The human being is certainly a complex animal, all animals bodies are highly complex organisms, even a single cell is unfathomably complex and we each have 50 trillion of them. When we consider the mind and consciousness then we add more layers to the complexity. Yes it can be overwhelming to try and know about our complexity. I mean, we know very little about ourselves and if we exclude the physical workings of the body for a moment, though it can be recognised that we can investigate and measure the anatomy and physiology of the body, what do we know about why we behave the way we do?

What is Reality?
What is reality, we may say that there are many different levels or dimensions of reality and whatever level of reality you are in that is okay. Actors in a TV series are displaying story lines of characters that script writers have written. They come together in a studio and play out their roles. As viewers what do we see, we see a TV screen, a rather small object, and we watch the unfolding drama. We laugh, we cry, we get angry and we can empathise and identify with the lives on that screen.

This makes it even more important to learn good communication skills and to learn how to communicate in a way that will truly help the child.

REFRAMING NEGATIVE BEHAVIOR IN YOUR NAUGHTY CHILD
The best thing to do when your child has a negative behavior that needs to be changed is: 1. Assume good intent. If you assume he meant to do something bad, then he might end up continuing on with the negative behavior and/or becoming defensive. It is better to assume positive intent and then lead them from there. 2. If the behavior needs a reframing of content, then you can find out what that positive intention is, and you can work with your child to find a different behavior that would meet the same need.

How to Coach Naughty Kids to Positive Behavior
Consider some things, good or bad, that people do. Putting a seatbelt on every time you get into a car is necessary for your safety, and that is why you started doing it, but it has also become a habit and now you don't even think of it when you get into a car. You just do it. Checking for people behind you when going through a store door is polite, but it has also become a habit. You check without even thinking. This may also be true of your child's negative behavior. Even though she wants to change it, it is difficult to even remember to do so because she is so used to doing it.

Being Positive Helps Create Positive Children
Your mindset determines how you see the world. It determines your perception of the world, and this perception is like a filter. The great thing about filters is that they can be adjusted. Take a water filter. Maybe it is set to filter out only chlorine, but it also lets all the other yucky stuff through. What if it were adjusted to also filter out heavy metals and other harmful chemicals? That would be better, wouldn't it? Well, your perception can be adjusted too.

Yes Don't Mean a Thing, If You Can't Say NO
What does saying yes have to do with saying no? After all, they are opposite statements, meaning diametrically opposing things. We are “supposed” to say yes to friends, family, loved ones and especially...the Universe! Isn't that the secret behind the Secret? And we should say no to things like drugs, smoking and requests from our teenagers begging to go to wild parties. Why are most of us so wishy-washy when it comes to making commitments? Just look at the divorce rate as an example.

Why You Can’t Go Back To The Future
It started before the election returns were even coming in, much less votes being cast. Scared to Life (vs. Scared to Death)
It’s kind of a funny thing, that expression “It scared me to death.” [Recently discussed by Geoff at Debbie LaChusa's Money Success Happiness blog at www.moneysuccesshappiness.com] In my work with people, and in my own personal life, one of the biggest components of happiness, success, obstacles, or challenges always seems to boil down to one thing: FEAR. Now, you may think you know what fear means… you certainly know what it feels like… but let me paraphrase a definitio I like a lot: Forgetting Everything’s All Right.r

Where Does Self Esteem Come From?
We all want an abundance of self esteem. And why not? Self esteem equates to confidence, being attractive (without having to fake it), and being a magnet for success, wealth, popularity, and a whole host of other goodies. The Law Of Attraction requires a genuine core of self esteem before it swings into action, bringing whatever we desire to us without our having to lift a finger. We don't have to earn what comes to us when we have lots of self esteem. It comes to us as a cosmic gift. But if we don't already have that core, can we generate it by positive thinking? Not really!

Right Use of Anger
Often we hear anger called a negative emotion. Like the creator made a mistake in the original design of humanity—the kind of mistake typical of humans. Maybe it was just a slip of the spoon when adding ingredients, or inadvertent reactiveness between two benign components (like barbiturates and alcohol). Before we blame the cosmos for anger issues, it might be useful to step back and take a look at what we label anger. For one thing, anger has very different flavors. The first kind we all experienced was infant anger about not being cared for adequately.

How Good is our Thinking about Thinking
With the current interest in secrets about the power of thought, it might be useful to take a look at some other factors. Certainly, thoughts are powerful as a locomotive. But emotions are the fuel to get the train out of the station and down the tracks. Another element that often gets overlooked is quality of thinking. True power within our thoughts derives directly from quality of our consciousness.

Why Motivation Doesn't Work (Sometimes)
It's like the story about the horse pulling a heavy cart with the proverbial carrot dangling in front and a whip at the ready behind. He turns to the driver and asks, “Tell me again. What's my motivation here?” How motivation usually works is like when we were kids and mom would tell us to clean our rooms. We had two options, for the most part—compliance or defiance. Either way, who had the motivation about our rooms being cleaned? Us or our moms? Fast forward to the present. How much has changed? Not much.

Love Entanglements
If we were to diagram most adult relationships as stick figure art, we would have a confusion of interlocking lines. Even if different colors were used for each person, arms and leg lines would show a lot of confusion, struggle and oppositional positioning. That's because for the most part we continue to deal with adult love relations much as we did in our original families. And we have secondary lines of confusion with our children, larger families, close friends, and, of course, worst enemies.

Most problems we face as adults are not adult problems
They are unfinished business from childhood. In several decades of working in the mental health field, I've learned that when people look for help, the most common areas are: relationships, career, and personal performance. Specifically, they are issues like self-esteem, fears of being abandoned, insecurities, dependencies, being controlled by others, and never getting to the point of deciding who we want to be when we grow up. What I've found most useful is to look at the groupings of client issues as related to specific challenges we all began facing in childhood.

Is It Time To Stop Sleeping In?
Three years ago, a young 22-year-old man my son knew was walking along a local overpass that is one of the busiest traffic corridors in the Boulder area. For some reasons that we’ll never really know, this young man – deeply loved by his family and his friends – made a decision; one that ignited ripples of impact across the lives of so many other people. He decided to follow through with a choice he must have made before even getting to the overpass. He went to the railing, hiked one leg and then the other over the railing, and made the last decision of his life when he jumped.

Ok, if you’re not a Pink Floyd fan – and/or haven’t listened to the Dark Side Of The Moon album (it’s been pointed out to me recently, by the way, how badly I’m dating myself by even using the term “album”) – this article may take you a bit more time to get in the groove of. There’s a song on the Dark Side album called “Speak To Me/Breathe.” The first verse contains the following lyrics: Breathe, breathe in the airr Don’t be afraid to carer Leave but don’t leave mer Look around, choose your own groundr For long you live and high you flyr

Not Any Farther Than I Can Throw You!
Do you have trust issues with your partner (and/or someone you’re not romantically involved with)? If you don’t, you’re a rarity. With so many couples I work with, it looks like communication’s a major issue (which it is), but more often than not, the more fundamental issue you’re dealing with is what you trust and what you don’t with your partner. If you’re in this dilemma, odds are that your willingness to mend your heart, and get majorly re-connected with your partner has become inextricably linked with your mind demanding that the other person prove to you that they’re trustworthy.

Who Is The Name You Give Yourself?
Traveling across the southweste states, I've visited a hundred archeological sites built by pueblo peoples. One curious fact has to do with names given to them. Toozigoot, a ruin near Sedona, Arizona, is a Comanche word meaning “crooked waters.” Nearby is Montezuma's Castle and Montezuma's Well, attributing Aztec origins to ruins that pueblo peoples constructed. In New Mexico, Santa Clara Pueblo is the name given by Spanish invaders and Coronado State Park is dedicated to the village that conquistador's expedition camped at for a winter, eating all their precious stores of grain.

Barbie's For Boys....Why Not?
I can still recall fondly my childhood. Years spent playing with my assorted dolls and their accessories. Creating imaginary worlds of glamor and adventure. My dolls were an outlet-as for most little girls the opportunity to forage into the social realm with the proverbial security blanket. A 12 ” blonde- haired perfectly proportioned piece of perfection. Gaggles of girls would flock together with their representations of themselves in tow. These dolls provided the opportunity to socialize and play in a group setting.

What's Your Relationship with Food?
A relationship is when both parties participate into the communication. Well when you ‘feel’ you want to eat to go eat the food speaks to you by the triggers you already have installed in your body. These triggers fires up the times when you ‘feel’ you want to eat. Most of the times these triggers are in your sub-conscience and you simply re-act to them to satisfy your-self - eating. Do you know how much food do you need to satisfy your appetite? Do you have food compulsions?
