Oprah Winfrey– “If a man wants you, nothing can keep him away. If he doesn’t want you, nothing can make him stay. Stop making excuses for a man and his behavior. Allow your intuition (or spirit) to save you from heartache.” —“Stop trying to change yourself for a relationship that’s not meant to be.” Oprah Winfrey– “Slower is better. Never live your life for a man before you find what makes you truly happy.” Oprah Winfrey– “If you feel like he is stringing you along, then he probably is. Don’t stay because you think ‘it will get better.’

A saying that you’ve probably heard a lot in business, in sports, and human performance in general is controlling the controllable. What does that actually mean? I wanted to take this concept of controlling the controllable, which is actually really good advice by the way, and take it out of the realm of being a cliché and into the realm of something that we can actually do. In our workshops we’ll use something called the CIA Model to help students gain understanding of this concept and reduce stress in their own lives.
All of our senses - sight, sound, touch, taste and smell, gather information and send this information for processing to our brains. Our brains receive thousands of pieces of information every second. This is where your reticular activating system (RAS) comes in, your RAS is a small group of cells at the base of your brain stem. Its function is to act like a sorting office, evaluating the incoming information and prioritising that information in the form of messages that need

I was driving around last week listening to a guy named Andy Andrews in my car, and he said something that hit me right between the eyes. Mr. Andrews (author of the book The Traveler’s Gift) was saying that if he was allowed only 1 minute on stage and one thing to say that would change someone’s life, it would be an easy decision for him to know what to cover. He said his advice would be to: SMILE WHILE YOU TALK That’s it- crazy, huh? Seems so simple, but it’s such a common denominator.
Clarity will increase your desire and move you in the direction of your goals and dreams. Legendary motivator Jim Rohn said, “It’s not the direction of the wind, but the setting of the sails that really matters.” I want to remind you that you were born to win, but to be the winner you were born to be, you have to have a clear plan to get there. This means having specific goals that you are shooting for. I once heard of a book called I’d Rather Eat Nails tha Set Goals. I nev
Vision boards have transformed the lives of celebrities like A old Schwarzenegger and Oprah Winfrey – and they have the power to transform your life too. They are a modern manifestation method combining concepts taken from creative hobbies like scrapbooking with motivational mind-mapping and brand development techniques used by marketeers. A vision board is quite literally a collage of pictures, phrases, poems and quotes visually represent what you would like to experience mo
I’m no philosopher but I am a good observer. And in my 15-years as a Feng Shui consultant, I have met many clients anxious to find their soul mate. When I ask what approach they have taken, I get the usual answer. “My friends try to play Cupid for me.” “I joined an internet dating site.” “I have been in singles group activities.” And when I ask their experience or success with these approach, I usually receive the same reaction…loss of eye contact as they look at their feet in silence!
Let's keep this simple. As simple as can be. What do you want? More money? A new house? A nice luxury car? A holiday in France? A new boyfriend or girlfriend? An athletic body? Whatever it is, it is a physical result, is it not? Physicality. Why? For what feeling? So you can feel secure? Happy? Fulfilled? Whatever the reason is, it so that you can feel good, feel free, and experience satisfaction of some kind. It is to enjoy your self one way or the other. Feeling. So how
Sometimes we get frustrated because things do not move fast enough or we are too close to the situation that we cannot see any progress, even if we know that things do not just happen ove ight. We have to concentrate on building a good solid and strong foundation and learn as you go. Life is about learning our lessons and growing as a person. I am very guilty of this; sometimes I become impatient with myself. Not sure if it is just human nature that wants instant gratificati
Feng Shui applied to retail businesses is the practice of looking at how a retail space is organized and how its current condition affects different aspects the business. Feng Shui has been used for centuries for businesses in China and other Eastern countries and it’s now a popular trend in domestic retail businesses.
(1.) They take time to determine what they truly want and how to get it. Any sensible and mature person has his own idea of what he wants most out of life. People who set goals hold mental pictures of what they would like to materialize before their very eyes. For example, an obese or overweight man might plan to submit himself to a diet-and-exercise program in order to regain his health. A high school student who wants to put herself through college will study hard to win a scholarship.
Ever since my tour of duty in the Marine Corps, I have always aspired to be part of a great team. I have spent most of my career, regardless of what industry I was in, developing teams to help accomplish goals. Even if you work alone, you are still part of a team. Your vendors, clients, and support personnel all make up your team. And every team needs a leader. If you’re not leading your team, who is?
If you live in fear of forgetting prospects' names, sometimes within mere seconds of being introduced to them, you're not alone. Surveys show that 83% of the population worries about their inability to recall people's names. Ironically, while most of us hate having our names forgotten or mispronounced, the majority of us claim we just "aren't good at remembering names" or putting faces together with names when we meet people again.
With each new day we find that the world has changed a little; on some days it’s changed a lot. Often that change creates uncertainty; a subtle discomfort that comes from not knowing what’s going to happen next. During times like these the greatest confidence builder available to you is having a written goal. A written goal has the power to transcend the mixed emotions that are triggered by change and it gives you a stable point on which to focus.
I believe that everyone reading this understands that no matter what business you are in- Real Estate, Financial Services, Teaching, Auto Sales, or any other profession, we are all in the PEOPLE BUSINESS. It’s been said that fully 85% of your success in life is directly related to your ability to effectively work with people. So I wanted to pass on a little tip that will make all your dealings with clients or co-workers much more effective. It is laid out extremely well in Dale Carnegie’s all time best selling book How to Win Friends & Influence People (definitely recommended reading).

Eleven Hints for Life 1. It hurts to love someone and not be loved in return. But what is more painful is to love someone and never find the courage to let that person know how you feel. 2. A sad thing in life is when you meet someone who means a lot to you, only to find out in the end that it was never meant to be and you just have to let go. 3. The best kind of friend is the kind you can sit on a porch swing with, never say a word, and then walk away feeling like it was the best conversation you’ve ever had.
Success is a positive result of the fulfilment of our goals. The measure of success is a subjective view of success. Success for me as an individual, personal success, success for my family, success for my company, a state, success for humanity, success for history and success for the future ...
I’ve been thinking a lot about what I believe to be the central challenge facing our clients right now, along with the rest of our society. It’s not an original concept by any means, but more and more I come to believe that it is the key to unlocking every success principle in existence. Discipline. I see the results of real discipline every day. I also see the results of the lack of discipline every day.
I recently spent some time in Door County, Wisconsin on a relaxing little weekend getaway. On my last day there, I set out with a girlfriend to explore Peninsula State Park, a beautiful nature preserve located on a bluff high above the waters of Green Bay. As we went through the park, we stumbled upon Eagle Tower. Eagle Tower is a 75 foot wooden tower built in 1914 that sits on a cliff above Green Bay, exactly 250 feet above the water. For whatever reason, I was attracted to the tower. I quickly assessed it and decided to climb it.
Can You Create a New Habit in 21 Days? "Fake it 'til you make it." We've all heard the cliche for approaching something that seems out of reach. There may be some method to the madness of that approach. But have you ever given much thought to what it takes to bridge the gap between where you are now and where you want to be when it comes to eliminating old habits and forming new ones? Success is habitual. We have all witnessed those who seemingly achieve amazing feats over and over. Think of Tiger Woods, Michael Phelps, Michael Jordan.
Gratitude is the heart's memory "Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow."rn~ Melody Beattie submitted by John Moser " Gratitude is the vision that seeks the gift and recognizes how gifted we are. This vision has always been recognized as a core experience of spirituality
Kicked Out Of Bed! MY CRIME? SNORING! (This is a true story. The names have been changed to protect the snorer and his wife.) I love sleeping next to my wife, but she just kicked me out of our bed! I can’t imagine what I possibly could have done that would cause her to take such a drastic action. I knew I hadn’t cheated on her. I knew I was a pretty good lover. I knew I paid all our bills on time. What could have possibly led her to throw me out of my own bedroom, and onto -- you guessed it -- the couch?
I want to discuss a defining characteristic of successful people that I’ve met worldwide. I’ve found that successful and joyous people are usually very skilled at counting their blessings. They focus on what’s right about their life instead of what’s wrong. Why is this important? It goes back to the incredibly simple but undeniably profound thought expressed in Earl Nightingale’s great album The Strangest Secret. He said that “you become what you think about all day long.” If you think about that, you’ll realize it’s true.
What’s scarier to most Americans than spiders, heights, or even death? There hasn’t been a horror movie made about it yet, but more than 75% of Americans surveyed report that they suffer from “glossophobia,” a debilitating fear of public speaking. Statistically, far more of us claim that we would prefer death to giving a speech; even comedia Jerry Seinfeld used to joke that at a funeral, most people would rather be lying in the casket than delivering the eulogy. Why is the prospect of trying to communicate information in front of even one person so horrifying?
What do I mean by “Leadership with a small l”? I wrote about Leadership with a Big L for SelfGrowth.com http://www.selfgrowth.com/articles/Leadership_with_a_Big_L_-_4_Keys_to_Leading_When_it_is_Your_Job.html - that is being a leader when that is your job and responsibility to set objectives, map a course of action and get results from a group of people. This usually shows up in your job title. For instance, you could be a manager, a coach, a director etc.

I love talking with people about what they are working on and what they want from life. I'm always amazed at just how close many of us are standing to the thing that we want and don't even realize it. True, nothing is given to you unless you put forth the effort and take the steps to attain it, but attainment is a reality when you consistently move in the direction of that which you desire.
Blood Pressurer Blood pressure bullets • Eating less sugar leads to steadier blood sugar levels and that turns off the high blood pressure gene. A great analogy that helps to understand self-discipline is that it is like a muscle. The more you exercise it, the stronger it becomes. You must push your limits in order to make it stronger. Just like with working out, if you lift weights that are too light, you won’t make any progress. At the same time, if you try to lift a weight that is far beyond your current capability, you will fail miserably. Imagine starting a marathon running as fast as you can. Obviously you won’t
In 1953, researchers at Yale University polled the graduating class and found that 3% of the graduates had a set of clearly defined written goals. Twenty years later, in 1973, these researchers went back and visited the class of '53 and found that the 3% of the graduates with these written goals had amassed a net worth that was greater than the other 97% combined. This is powerful indication that goal setting is critical for success. We see goal setting as a process. We ar
Many of the most successful and famous people in the world have one thing in common - they have spent time every day writing down their thoughts and goals! Learn how writing down your goals will increase your ability to be successful. Recently a book came out in my country about the early life of one of our most famous political leaders. I found the reviews of this book very interesting, because as a very young teenager, this boy who later became a famous prime minister, used
As a reader of SelfGrowth.com, you’ve likely given some thought to the whole idea of your “attitude.” Some offices I've been to usally have a corny but helpful poster with some pithy saying about “attitude” right? Some of the more popular ones: “Attitude is everything!” “It’s your attitude, not your aptitude that determines your altitude” “Attitude is contagious- is yours worth catching?” Or pick your favorite. There are lots of options, and I think that’s great- in fact I have some of those very posters!
It is exciting to see a fast growing number of people creating a personal Vision Board, as this is such an effective way to apply “The Law of Attraction” as seen in “The Secret”. However, a lot of people don't know exactly how to create a Vision Board, so I thought I'd ...
HAPPINESS The truth is that our finest moments are most likely to occur when we are feeling deeply uncomfortable, unhappy, or unfulfilled. For it is only in such moments, propelled by our discomfort, that we are likely to step out of our ruts and start searching for different ways or truer answers.rn—M. Scott Peckr
It is hard to believe that it’s November already and Thanksgiving is just around the corner. This is a special time of year that transcends cultures and religions – A time when we all give thanks.
I recently was made aware of two comparative statistics that I thought you might find extremely valuable. I learned that the average American reads less than 2 books per year, one and a half to be exact, with almost two thirds of those going unfinished. On the whole, Americans have lost the habit of reading good books. There is a notable exception, however. CEO’s of Fortune 500 companies read, on average, roughly FOUR BOOKS PER WEEK!
Every single day, and I mean literally everyday, there are some decisions that you have to make. Actually, we are all required to make them regardless of our professional position in life. I am going to discuss two of these decisions from a list of seven that I have discovered. When we make these decisions, we have to choose either/or. There is no third option to pick from and there is no such thing as not deciding.

“Enter into thine inner chamber… and shut thy door.” –Matthew 6:6 (King James Version) How Prayer Has Affected My Life This message is the result of being asked to deliver a “timely speech” for the Monumental Baptist Church’s Women’s Monthly Prayer Breakfast in Memphis, TN. Their scripture theme was 2 Corinthians 5:17: “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation: old things have passed away; behold all things have become new.” I was asked to share “How Prayer has Affected My Life.” First, prayer in my life has been a direct communion to God the Father, thru Chri
Daily OM When you remember that you are the author of your own life story, you are free to create a masterpiece. We all have our own life story. It is filled with relationships and events that help shape who we are and what we believe to be true about the world. The 5th Step to Accomplishing Your Goals GOALS - REASONS - EXPECTATIONS - ACTIONS - TRACKING Your goals are too important to just “wing-it.” Because you, your goals, and your life mean so much, you’ve put a great amount of effort to get to this point. Transforming your goals into greatness is like making a fine meal. The only way to cook it is to apply the right amount of heat. Greatness rarely happens at room temperature! There is only one component remaining to effectively Think GREAT - Tracking.

The market is flooded with articles on goal-setting. What about goal achieving? Isn’t that what goals are all about?
Once you’ve decided to jumpstart the process of getting rid of a negative habit, let me give you two words – just two very powerful words – that will help you tremendously: I can. We human beings are a strange lot. We sign up for college courses in order to build careers. We reduce our food intake and exercise to lose weight. We doll ourselves up in order to attract the man or woman of our dreams.
As we move into January many of us start making resolutions for the New Year ahead, but only a very small percentage of them are ever kept. This is because resolutions are often made based on things we think we should do, rather than from our heartfelt desires. Resolutions tend to be fuelled with negative energy. We load them up with guilt, disappointment and fear, then use them to beat ourselves up about all the things we feel we’ve failed at or should have done better with.
If you’re a reader of this article, there are a few things I know about you. You are likely more knowledgeable about goals than most. I’d guess that you and most of your peers would describe you as “goal oriented” in the most positive sense of the word.
While home with the flu this past year, I had the rare occasion to play couch potato. Momentarily sapped of my energy, I subjected myself to hours of daytime television, slipping in and out of consciousness as I endured chills and body aches. At one point, I awoke to Oprah and a show dedicated to common people struggling with the recession. One after another, audience members confessed their unique tale of woe.
"Writing down specific goals is an essential part of getting better. You have to write your goals down every day in a certain, very specific, way. Feel free to change your goals at any time if you want. They are flexible. The more goals you write each day the more you will accomplish. Write your goals in the first person and in the present tense. They can be as ambitious as you want, although you have to believe that they are possible. Aim to write at least 10-15 goals half a
A sales professional without desire is like an engine without fuel. Even the best engine will fail to perform when it is lacking the necessary fuel. An idle engine creates no momentum. Your sales efforts need momentum, not only to get things started but to keep things moving. Desire is your secret ingredient. Deeper desires create more powerful fuel.
Mind Mapping, also called concept mapping is a useful technique for developing and documenting any thought process. It can be used for planning, studying, problem solving and of course, goal setting. A mind map for goal setting is a great technique for brainstorming your dreams and desires. To do a Mind Map for goal setting, all you need is a large piece of clean paper. Make sure there are no lines on it as that will impose a ‘structure’ on your thinking, which you don’t want. Or if there are lines, turn the page so that the lines are vertical.

If you believe that accelerated loss of your mental acuity is inevitable with age, and that the loss of your competitive edge is certain to accompany that memory loss, you're not alone. But you are wrong. Age does have some effect on memory, but it's not an especially significant factor. Nonetheless, people tend to use their age as an excuse for poor or weakened performance. In fact, the opposite is true: For most people in business, the prime earning years are their 40s and 50s because they have invaluable maturity and experience.
Are you a student of success? I'm guessing since you are reading this, you probably are. I have been a student of success for as long as I can remember. For decades I have asked the question, "What makes one person succeed and another person struggle?" Even in my childhood I was a virtual sponge.
Your palms begin to sweat and you avoid eye contact with someone you know is a client, but you just can't remember his name. Your heart sinks as you hang up the phone after a phone call with a furious prospect; you forgot you'd made an appointment with her. You pound your forehead in frustration as you realize, too late, what you should have told a customer that would have made the sale. Have you ever thought, "If only I'd been born with a better memory, I'd be better at sales?" Unfortunately, no one is inherently talented at instant memory recall; scientists have been unable to prov

There’s a timeless principle that successful people live by, that I realized can be used as an immediate and powerful boost to your self-esteem and your emotions. Volumes have been written and spoken about this principle over the millennia, but I still see people not understanding or misunderstanding it all the time, and the result is a major amount of unnecessary stress. The principle I’m referring to is what we call Be, Do, Have. I definitely did not invent this terminology, but it IS descriptive.
âLife is either a daring adventure or nothing.â âHelen Keller Throughout my journalism career thus far, I have been fortunate to meet fascinating, inspiring, daring people on a daily basis who tell me about their lives and passions. Encounters like these have encouraged me to further uncover my own talents and goals, and not on

You might say â as Arnold often does about life â itâs â
Leadership with a big L is the kind of leadership that comes with a title: Manager, Vice President, Director, CEO etc. It is when you are responsible for a group of people and providing direction to a predetermined result in a business, church, school or family. I’m going to share 4 keys that apply to anyone who’s in charge of anything involving more than one person. Is that you? I bet it is….. These 4 keys come from an incredible book I read last year called The Four Obsessions of an Extraordinary Executive, by Patrick Lencioni.
Can you really achieve your money, health, relationship and other goals effortlessly or do you have to struggle? Can move in a way that guarantees that your goals are achieved, or are you at the mercy of luck? Yes, you can achieve your goals effortlessly. As much as your logical mind may tell you that effortless goal achievement is impossible, that is still a conditioned belief. For evidence, look to nature. How do you suppose a tiny seed grows into a giant tree with no con
Many people ask me if I think the real estate market has bottomed out. I don't know. However, for a lot of people, now is the time to buy. Look at the numbers. Every situation is different. My mother is a great example. She was renting a 2 bedroom, 2 bath condo for about $1300 per month. In 2007, she bought a 3 bedroom, 2 bath house. Her payment is about the same as the rent. Her annual cash flow has improved because the interest is deductible and she saves on income tax. Although the value of her house has declined, it has declined by less than she would have paid in rent.
What are your goals? Do you want to quit smoking, lose weight, run a marathon, or raise money for a local charity? Whatever your goals may be, you need to ask yourself, how am I going to achieve them? Many of us say, some day I want to go to Hawaii or Monday I will start eating better; but we rarely start working towards the thing we want in our lives. Maybe it is because we donât know where to start or do not have the support to push us forward.nnWhether you have goals stu

Affirmations are a powerful tool for change. If you recite them with great feeling and generate the emotions you would feel if those affirmations were 100 percent true, they can alter your life dramatically. When you experience the feeling of being in a committed relationship with the perfect soul mate, or having a deeply rewarding job, you're able to attract and create these situations. But while feeling strong, positive emotions while reciting your affirmations is crucial, it is not enough to make affirmations work for you.
Are you ready for a Spiritual and Personal Transformation? “There I say unto you. What things so ever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that yernreceive them, and ye shall have them.” Romans 8:26 (KJV) You are wondering what a spiritual and personal transformation is. Then you may ask does this apply to me? No matter what our ages are, we all face crossroads while traveling on our runways of our lives.
Here are five limiting beliefs about personal goal setting that I discovered last Sunday when a passerby overheard my Irish friends and me talking while he was taking some photos. He came over to chat to us. He is just finishing up his final year in Sydney and unfortunately he couldn't get another visa and has to go back to Ireland. I identified 5 limiting beliefs that he better lose quick smart: 1.Quit the Blame Gamer
Today I thank Dad he gave me life and he gave me reasons to live What I learned from Dad has brought me to places I never knew I could reach. He gave me the belief that given the desire and the willingness I can achieve almost anything. Dad believed that in his heart and it got into my heart. I do not live my life as my dad envisioned but I do live my life by this guiding principle. We do not know how far we can go. So keep working at what you want Tuchy Ever grateful Son of Phil Some words from the book ‘Phil In His Own Words” On life
The greatest gift you can give another human being is not your love, but rather your acceptance of them as they are. If you tell someone you love them, but you consistently show them that you do not accept them, as they are, then your love becomes a burden to you both. Love without acceptance is conditional to both. Love without acceptance is disappointing to both. Love without acceptance is confusing to both. Love without acceptance is frustrating to both. Love without acceptance is painful to both.

BETTER It is better to conquer yourself than to win a thousand battles. Then the victory is yours. It cannot be taken from you, not by angels or by demons, heaven or hell. —Buddha Don’t be afraid to give your best to what seemingly are small jobs. Every time you conquer one it makes you that much stronger. If you do the little jobs well, the big ones will tend to take care of themselves. Some rocks are better polished and some rocks are better rough. It’s not about being the best; it is about doing your best.r
